1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I usually have mine just slightly off to the side, like they're looking right past you. If not that, then tilted up to one side in thought.

Either way, the eyes have to be synced. I can't stand wonky eyes or eyes that are dead-looking.

    2. I think it's important to remember that we almost never see the entire round iris or the entire round pupil in a person's eyes and that the top of them are generally cut off by the eyelids. People who don't keep this in mind end up with the "MY EYES CAN SEE FOREVER" dead doll stare.

I prefer to position my dolls' eyes up and slightly to the left because they all tend to be little smirky jerks.

    3. MCPO_J117, would you mind posting the link you had originally been searching for? That sounds like a very interesting read!

    4. I am soo bad at positioning eyes ;.; I have to have my friend do it for me.

    5. I put mine looking slightly upward -- not to the point that they look like they're rolling their eyes, but just enough that the pupils aren't perfectly dead ahead centered. Being that tiny bit off center keeps them from getting the glazed stare thing happening.

    6. Right into my soul!

    7. It really depends on the mold and the character of the doll. Some of my dolls have their eyes up and look straight ahead, so that they'll have that 'I'm going to kill you'- glare. Others are positioned just slightly ooff to the side, because I think this makes them look a little more introspective.

    8. I prefer centered eyes most of the time, but my dollzone fox eyes positioned to left - he looks sly that way )

    9. I usually have my boy's eyes looking straight ahead, but I'll reposition them to look off to the side from time to time. He looks more curious that way. :)

    10. I think I answered this before, but currently most of my dolls have a center gaze, though I have one gal who nearly always looks to her right, and a couple I usually set so they are looking up more. Though it also depends on the eyes I have in the doll and what placement best suits the eyes.

    11. Most of my dolls glance left or right, up or down, anything that suits their personality better; very rarely do I position their eyes to be looking up front as it makes them appear a little blank at times in my opinion. On the other hand I reposition eyes a whole lot so it's always subject to change.

    12. I prefer to have them look towards the front so it's easier to turn them to "look" at something but their positions in the front depends on their personalities. One of mine looks up a little with narrowed eyes and the other, who also has narrow eyes, looks much gentler when the eyes are placed in the middle.

    13. I usually have them looking straight ahead, but I'll angle them for photo shoots sometimes. For some reason, to me, dolls looking straight ahead tend to look cuter, while dolls looking off to one side look a little cooler. So, it just depends on my mood or what outfit I have my boy in.

    14. Mine look straight forward. I specifically requested that Dollmore and Iplehouse install the eyes that way when I got my dolls from them. Dollfie Dreams come with forward-looking eyes by default :)

I have a bunch of Momoko dolls that look to the side, but I prefer forward-looking dolls because it makes for easier photos in my opinion.

    15. I think the eye position depends largely on the expression we want to give the doll. Depending on how the matching, it looks different. I have a little bit of everything. In front, to the side... depends on the personality and what we want to show every time ^ ^

    16. I copied the way that the face up artist Gothland did it for my dolls which is slightly up and centred so that the whites show left and right and a tiny bit underneath. I feel that it looks more natural that way.

    17. I think the direction a doll looks says a lot about their personality. For a doll that looks center, they may be spacey and thoughtful, never really focused on the hear or now. Dolls that look off to the side are always worried or concerned about something. If they look up, they're never happy with where they are, wish they were somewhere else. Looking down means they're shy, timid, and probably low self esteem.

    18. Most of my dolls eyes are centered as their natural position, but I really like having one of my dolls eyes off to the side. It makes him look a bit more moody, so it suits his character more with his eyes looking off to the side, like he's so over it, haha. And my other dolls only look around if a picture calls for it, otherwise they look straight ahead.

    19. In general, I position my doll's eyes in the center, looking up a tiny bit. That prevents them from giving anyone the creepy doll stare. Sometimes I'll put their eyes off to one side but I like being able to know where they're looking depending on which way their head is facing.

    20. I usually have the eyes face forward on my dolls :ablink:. For me it's a bit of a "deafult" mode for the eyes until I know how the doll will look with clothes, setup (if he or she will be placed together with another doll) and such. I think most of my dolls will end up having their eyes facing in other directions than straight forward as time goes by and they become more and more complete :apirate:.
