1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

The Government Dolls - What do you do with YOUR Tax Return?

Jan 25, 2012

    1. Exactly! I mean, I pay for all of my mature adult stuff...I can spend a little on dolls too, lol. But I'm also very paranoid and worrisome in general so I have the same thoughts, what if something happens, what if I end up needing the money unexpectedly...but I guess you can't always be prepared for everything all of the time.

You should! I think as long as you're still taking care of yourself and not spending irresponsibly it's okay to buy yourself something nice. And I'm in the same naked doll boat... I got my doll, a wig, and some eyes, but he'll either be naked or in some home made threads for awhile, hahah!

    2. It is sooo tempting but I promised myself I would put the money toward my credit card, which is as run up as it is because I put two really expensive dolls on it at the end of the year last year. And I'm not breaking my promise to myself unless one of my two dream dolls (in my sig) pops up for sale on DoA.

    3. Because of the way I do my withholding, I get close to a zero refund come tax time. That leaves me with more money in every paycheck during the year, so I can save up for a doll or clothing items that I like with that.

If I did get a big refund check though, I'd probably send it straight to savings.. and then still buy items throughout the year on an as-wanted basis. I value the flexibility to purchase limited items when they come available for sale, for instance.

    4. My taxes are going mostly to a doll but also to a tattoo. I spend all my other money on bills and living so I feel no guilt in getting myself a little pick me up with my taxes. My Federal return should actually be here in about 2 days and I'm hoping I can use it to get my favorite doll back, the one I've always truly regretted selling, my Migidoll Ryu. =]

    5. "Government Dolls," how funny! Yes, I have used a portion of my tax return for a doll before. I've only done it once though, for my Doll Family-H Duanyu, Quinn. His price was already quite low compared to most dolls his size, but when he went on sale for around $300, I couldn't resist! I didn't feel guilty at all, but that was probably because I got him for such a great price. I can't say how I would have felt if I spent say, $1000 of my tax return on a doll! Something tells me I'd regret it then. :sweat

    6. I don't know how much I will be getting back yet, but my husband and I have come to an agreement about our return- we're going to pay off a couple of things first, and then split the money in two to do what we want with the remainder. He's planning on getting a new camera, and I'm planning on getting some more dolls. I don't feel guilty because I know that we will be taking care of first things first, and will be saving the luxury items for later.

That having been said, the only thing I've been feeling slightly guilty about is that I'm planning to get a MNF- with only 2 Resinsoul dolls as part of my collection thus far, it's kind of hard for me to take the plunge into getting a doll that costs more than twice what was paid for the other 2. :P

    7. I did my taxes and was excited to find out the amount and decided I was going to buy a doll, especially since I would be getting it during an event to save money! I originally planned to use it and get two but of course my laptop busted so I'll be saving for that for a while but I don't care cause I'm finally getting a DoD Ducan that I've been wanting for years! >W< I pay off my bills with every paycheck and leave a little bit to spend, not even close enough to buy a doll, so no, no guilty conscience. :)

    8. Mine has helped me on paying Dolly Layaways >w<;

    9. I used my tax money last year buying a MNF Chloe (the girl on my avatar). Did i felt guilty? No. This year though I am feeling a little guilty so I have a $250 budget.

    10. I normally end up paying my bills with my tax return.:...(

    11. After bills, I put a little aside for my doll hobby. My husband gets a little for whatever he wants it for (right now he is saving up for a new fancy gaming computer). We also put a little in savings for our son and buy him a new toy.

    12. I have used part of my tax return to help buy a doll or two over the years. I do not feel guilty about it. I work darned hard for my money. And it is money the government owes me. My money. At the least I have used some of the return on extra wigs, clothes and shoes that my crew needed. But mostly I save 20 bucks every two weeks for doll funds that builds up over time. Hopefully this tax return I can get my floating head girl's body if Luts starts restocking them once more. That is my plan this year.

    13. Yep, my tax return money is mostly going to fund dolly stuff :P

    14. I used my tax return last year to supplement my saved funds to get the most expensive doll I ever bought, and in 2008 it went toward getting my boy. No guilt, it was my money. This year, my only debt at present would be my college loan and the last little bit of Christmas spending that needs to be wiped off the plastic, but I don't think I'll be getting much money back, so I don't intend to put it toward dolls.

    15. i bought a doll and a half with part of my tax return this year. ^^ my dollshe saint, and half of my dz wing.

    16. After I put a down payment on a car and stuff away a bit for a future vacation I'm thinking about going ahead and getting a Kid Delf Litchi buuuuut I'm not certain yet. I guess we'll see how much I get back and how much I need for grown up stuff. I will at least put some in my dolly fund though :)

    17. I don't have to file my taxes yet. But Ive bought EVERYTHING in this hobby so far with my financial aid returns

    18. Part of my tax return this year gave me the last boost I needed to get a Homme Krill and accessories/clothing ordered for him. I'd already had all but the last $170 or so saved for him. The other half...went to pay for a new couch. >3> So all around, I was unresponsible, and my Krill will be at least a partial government doll. XD

    19. Like others said, tax returns means you have overpaid the government in taxes. This is YOUR money, not the government's money. Therefore, I don't see anything wrong with buying whatever pleases you, or paying for more bills if need be. If you have the extra cash now and can spend it on a doll, why not? I sure would ;)

    20. I bought my first Uncle Sam dollie this year and she's coming in the mail now! It feels oh so good baby!
