1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

The Hobby or A hobby?

Sep 17, 2012

    1. Isn't egg collecting illegal? At least here it is. O_o stick to dolls. I'd hate to see you arrested.

    2. It's a hobby. I'm a bit of a fashionista, play video games, and play the ukulele too. I get doll things every once in a while.. I would just call it another hobby though. I don't have a main hobby.

I do a lot of 'crafting' hobby type things too, but those tend to get sucked up into my actual job so they're not so much a hobby these days.

    3. A hobby. But it happens to tie in wih several others :). THE hobby is making my comic. The comic takes priority over all the rest. At times when I have to choose between getting a new page ready or working on a doll outfit, the page will win out - I have a posting schedule. But the dolls represent characters in my comic, and they inspire each other. Apart from drawing, I occasionally give myself over to sewing and knitting. Those get applied to the dolls too, so... Yes, dollies are perfect in the way they combine most things that I love doing.

    4. A hobby, but of the 30+ hobbies I've tried, only BJDs, hooping and the violin have endured, so its one of *the* hobbies.

    5. Definitely "a" hobby for me. I do love the hobby but sometimes it gets pushed to the back burner because I have many other ones... I love BJDs, videogames, photography, cosplay, anime (except I really never watch it often), as well as makeup, fashion, and cooking. I also like to read, hang out with friends and browse the internet (who doesn't), and I am also very big into keeping fit (especially running). Sometimes I think I have too many hobbies and can't fit them all into my life, but I think it's because I'm also a university student with a part-time job so I have very little time. When I don't need to worry about school or work, I can spend that much more time on hobbies.

I've actually had many recent thoughts about my hobbies and if I should rethink a lot of the ones I have and possibly phase out some... But I like them all too much! BJDs have been a hobby I've been in for a long time. So I really don't want to give that one up, even though it is a little bit more expensive compared to my other hobbies.

      >____> I kind of wrote a long post there, didn't I?

    6. I swear I replied to this before...
BJDs are A hobby...but the highlight of my over - all hobby...TOY COLLECTOR!!!
      Woooo-hoooo!!!
The rule the collection as they are much larger than all my action figures. BUT I did get a new Castle Grayskull that is as tall as they are.
I have a bunch of 1/6 action figures and a bunch of other scales.
My largest collection is He-Man/She-Ra. Then Walking Dead, Dr. Who, and now...GAME OF THORNES (If you haven't seen the new articulated action figures, not those dumb stactions, yer missing out). The only other dolls I have are Monster High...I'm proud of that one as I have every signature doll they have released.
Anyhow...I could go on and on, on toys...
My action figures where actually how I discovered ABJDs!

    7. Collecting fresh ones is,but those that meet a certain age requirement are fine. I wasn't talking about going out and getting them myself or buying any that were collected after the laws were passed.

    8. It's just one hobby, for me, but it's probably the most relaxing. I put a lot of pressure on myself to do well in my other hobbies... maybe it wouldn't be inaccurate to say that I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to them? But with BJDs, I actively try not to think about how well I'm doing or how good everyone else is or how this or that could be improved - it's strictly a hobby just for fun. ^^ Even though it is nice to get better at faceups, it's not something I'm actively practicing every day or something like that.

    9. This hobby is brand new to me and an extension of hobbies I've had my entire life, that of making costumes and writing fiction.

    10. This hobby is one of way too many hobbies I have :)

    11. It's "a" hobby for me, too~ Besides dolls, I knit and I collect My Little Pony toys.

    12. BJDs are just one hobby of mine! I have many other hobbies I prefer but this one is nice too ^^

    13. It's a hobby for me, the main one but besides dolls, I also doing Historic Cosplay, obviously sewing and many other creatives things ;)

    14. BJD's do take up a very big amount of my free time, but I am also a big comic con go-er and collect games and manga.
At the moment due to funds, I would say I'd prefer to spend my money on doll stuff. So I guess its what I'm most active in at the moment, would that make it THE hobby? x3

    15. This is a hobby in my case....I'm making art & comics a career for myself, so cosplay, role playing and BJDs have to remain a side hobby

    16. For me, when I find a new hobby, it becomes my main hobby and then it fades back. Mine rotate.

    17. The truth is, BJD isn't my only one hobby :( I write novel, draw, sew, take photos, do (science) experiments and create many kind of things when I'm interested. But doing experiment, BJD and writing novel are three main hobbies which I love and spend time for them the most :)

    18. It is definitely one of the many hobbies I have, though I will say it has become my main interest, but that's probably because I got my first doll 2 week ago. ^_^ I find that it has taken over my doll collecting hobby. I used save of money to buy new, non-BJD dolls, and now I'm just focused on BJDs. However, I have many other hobbies, but those are hobbies like singing, writing, sewing, minor crafting, etc. Hobbies that require little to no money, so they can still thrive even if I am focusing my spending money on BJDs. Also, the hobbies are very different from one another, and they fill different areas of my life, so I like maintaining as many as I can.

Vincent Van Gogh once said that to the key to a happy life is to love many things, so I have many hobbies that are filled with things I love. :)

    19. This is not my only hobby but more likely the main one. I create things for the installations (like clothes, accessories, small items etc) so that takes time. On the other hand I can say that I have some other hobbies which I really enjoy.

    20. I've had a lot of hobbies over the years before I got into BJDs. Except for my music and backpacking and bicycling hobbies, pretty much all the other hobbies have been applied to the newest hobby, BJDs. I think of it as A hobby, but it is a superset hobby.
