1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

The Hobby or A hobby?

Sep 17, 2012

    1. In this order: Ballet, Cello, Dolls. I don't get super involved by making stuff and sewing, but in the future it would be fun to learn how.

    2. BJDs are definitely not my only hobby, but right now, it is the biggest, most expensive, and my favorite. Since I've been into BJDs, I tend to relate my other hobbies (sewing, jewelry making, general craftiness, etc) to BJDs by making things for them using my other abilities. Pretty much everything I purchase is dolly related or very severely weighed against what I could possibly get for my dolls instead of something for myself. lol I think even if I lost interest in BJDs, I would keep most of them (maybe part with some of them) but they are a muse for so many other hobbies that I think they will always be a part of my life.

My other hobbies would be computer games, reading, making jewelry, sewing or crafting something, playing piano, and I'm always learning about a new hobby. ^^

    3. I have several hobbies, BJDs are a new hobby for me & thoroughly enjoying them

    4. Its just another hobby to me. It's there to keep me busy and give me creative inspiration. After all, I'm sure the doll won't mind staying in pose while I'm drawing lol unlike some other people

    5. If got more than one hobby. So BJD is one of them. Sometimes I can mix my BJD hobby with others like cosplay.

    6. I have other hobbies so it's just one of my hobbies :)

    7. BJDs are my newest hobby and the most expensive. I also Bellydance, watercolour paint, draw, make dance costumes, bake cakes, have a large collection of china/resin horses, am mad on computer game, read many many books and collect anime

    8. For me it's the other way around when it comes to BJDs. The dolls didn't get me into another hobby; they are the side-hobby to several of my other interests; mainly my model building but also to a lesser extent photography, sewing etc.

Let me explain :). I've build model kits for several years by now, many of them resin kits (my avatar is one example) with more or less heavy modifications so when I was told about the BJDs and got to know they were made of resin I felt that this was something familiar, but different enough to be interesting and allowing me to try new things.

To me the dolls are important and I greatly care for them. But I do in many ways view them as a type of model (they're really not that different). So yeah, for me the dolls aren't my main hobby, they are something I got interested in because of other interests/hobbies I already had.

    9. BJD are not my main hobby, but it probably take part in my hobby of 'collecting items'. I have a collection of video games, music CDs, gem stones, dragon statue, manga, books and novelty item from tv show/movie(stuff like trueblood bottles...).
I love to do art and it one of the reason I got into the BJD hobby. I would love to do my own face up or learn to sew clothes for them someday.

    10. It's really only a hobby of mine when the monthly local BJD meets or other events are coming up. From time to time I'll sew something, or take photos of my dollfies, but I'm mostly devoted to other interests, and being a fujoshi.

    11. I have several other hobbies such as books (reading and writing) and gaming. I guess next to bjd those are the two that takes up most of my time (and money) :)

    12. My main hobby is probably reading. ^.^ I'd hardly even count dolls as a hobby for me. I don't do much of anything with them, they're just very pretty. ♥ They mainly relate to my other hobbies of drawing/writing, all of them are my characters.

    13. They're THE hobby to me and a culmination of just about every other hobby I used to have. Everything I've ever liked doing but didn't have a purpose for I can now do for my dolls without feeling guilty I'm not into in after a few weeks anymore. Embroidery, sewing, knitting, crafts, photography and even shopping all centre around my dolls now. They come and go, but the dolls stay. Even my main hobby since I was twelve, writing, now revolves around my dolls as I shell OC's into dolls and create characters around other ones. And where I used to watch TV series constantly, I now still watch them (doll on lap if given the chance), but I watch BJD video's on YouTube a whole lot more! I have no shame in saying that I'm utterly addicted to my dolls and this hobby in general :D

    14. I can't afford another hobby LOL

    15. It is the hobby. It's perfect for me, and also very expensive. I can't really afford much else. (I do draw and write, but those don't really cost me anything.) It took me several tries to find the perfect hobby. I tried cosplay, Lolita, and a few other odds and ends. All of those bit the dust when I got into this. I don't mind it being my only hobby though. This hobby is very important to me, and I love it. I've always loved dolls, so finding these ultimate dolls was absolutely fantastic. My three dolls all carry sentimental value, and I adore all of the things that you can do with them. They are comforting and so cool.

    16. I kind of wish dolls were my only hobby; I have a lot of expensive hobbies!

Dolls didn't directly get me into another hobby, but the things I learned in this hobby made me confident to pick up customizing other toys and that eventually lead me back to bjds when I got out of the hobby for awhile. Thought that was interesting.

    17. BJDs are one of my hobbies, but definitely is the one I spend most of my money on. My other current hobbies are sewing and painting. A time ago I was into dollhouses but my little house kind of collapsed into itself and make me fell so sad that I left it. Maybe some day when I have more space in my house I will return to the dollhouse hobbie.

    18. Dolls are definitely my main hobby. I cosplay and love Lolita fashion, collect Lucky Cats, etc etc but none of those ever take the position above dolls for me. Spare funds almost always end up going to BJD layaway/clothing/eyes/wigs/accessories, while I rarely buy new cosplay or other things I collect unless I'm particularly fond of something and foresee a chance to use it soon or possibly being discontinued.

    19. It's my only hobby. I'm supper happy with it, it does take up a good chunk of my time. If I had another I'd have to cut my doll time in half. I really don't want to do that. ;)

    20. It is one of my hobbies. I can't choose only one hobby because I enjoy everything that I do in my free time. I love dolls, but my other hobbies (drawing, reading, learning foreign languages and so on) are also very important to me.
