The One. (AKA it just clicked!)

Jun 20, 2011

    1. Ringdolls Rebecca. With the original french resin. She's so... other worldly and slender. Poses like a dream and her outfit! She's one doll that I will NEVER take the face-up off of. I could never do her justice. If she ever goes ugly green or anything I think I'd cry not being able to get a new one. XD;;;
      She's my favorite, she doesn't fit in really with Any of the others and I don't care. She's perfect.

    2. Beatrice was like that from the moment I pulled her out of the box. When I saw her on the Mandarake website I thought she was cute and the price was right. I also thought if it didn't work out I could put her up on the MP. All that went out the window when she finally got here. She's not the most graceful poser and finding clothes that fit her bottom can be a pain but every time I look in those big green eyes I just want to pick her up and give her a cuddle.

    3. Luts SDF Harmony. When I saw her I just knew she was the one for me. Her sad face is just calling out to me haha xD later on I started pointing out things that I don't like about her... mostly her body, but I actually like her body, compared to many others. I think it was just me trying to talk myself out of it cause I can't afford her D: I'll have her one day though, I'm sure ^^

    4. When Migidoll Shion first came out, I thought he would make a lovely girl and I figured that her character would be revealed when she arrived here.

      Well, she did arrive, and insisted rather adamantly that she was a boy, and the girly wigs I tried on her emphasized how very boyish she was *_*

      Then a couple of weeks later I decided to change her eye colour, and it was a eureka! moment that really startled me because the character that I'd been planning to shell on a Fairyland Feeple Rona was suddenly standing right before me.

      And just to make sure of it, I tried on the girly wigs I put on Shion before and they showed just how very much she was that character that Rona was supposed to be, and all it took was a change of eye colour :o -- it worked out for the best as Fairyland decided to discontinue their Feeple70 line and now I have that character anyway ^^

    5. I've actually had this happen with both my boy dolls. When I first got them, I wasn't sure and just couldn't get them right. Rai, my DZ Wing-2, especially bothered me at first, so much so I made a vid lamenting about it. I was afraid I had made a huge mistake and just wanted to jump into the hobby and was buying the first doll that even reminded me of my character without putting any real thought or research into it. Fortunately, though, I took a deep breath and got inspired one day. I actually put the mohair wig on him that I had bought him way back before I got him and that I had tried on him and thought was awful. I was unaware when I first tried it on him, that mohair needs worked with and tamed just a little. I did this and he CLICKED! He WAS Rai and no arguing with it. It only got better when I got his new eyes.

      Same with Vi, my tan B&G Sky. His resin threw me off, his faceup threw me off, etc. It was only till recently, when I put him in a too-large sweater, changed his eyes, added eyelashes, and threw on his initial black fur wig that he clicked as Vi and I became happy I bought him.

      Luckily my girls just clicked and are still clicking. So far, I've been luckily. I'm hoping to never have a doll that just never ever clicks with me. That would make me unfortunately upset.

    6. Yes! Both online and in real life. When I was first entering the hobby, I was browsing the Luts site, enraptured with the beautiful dolls I saw, an wondering if I'd ever be able to settle for just one. But when I saw Kid Delf Cherry, I was sold. Anyway, she arrived a week late and Luts had sprung some hidden charge on me, but I still love them. When I saw my dolly in real life, her name and personality just clicked and right then, it was all worth it.

    7. I think that's how most people should find their first doll. When I first saw Aiden, it was in a group picture and none of the scuplts where named, I searched far and wide until I could put a name to the scuplt. I also had a similar moment when I first got Chase on a body, it was a kind of 'i can't believe I own something this beautiful' moment. I love all my children and I have them because upon see them I had a 'your perfect' moment.

    8. I try to get only the dolls that I find like this, because they're so expensive, XD;;

      I was clicking my way through the LUTS shop, and was kinda happy since they seemed to have dolls that looked good, but I just couldn't find one that actually seemed appealing to me, since almost all of them were scowling or just generally looking not-happy. Then I saw the Pine model.

      It looked almost exactly like a 1970's shoujo character. I think those comics are really pretty, so of course it just went "ping" and I had decided. He's so cute, I'm glad that I got him.

    9. Most dolls from Iplehouse are THE ONE for me.... But the one that got me to surrender and start the outpour of money was Carina when she was released as the belly dancer. I saw her and it was that moment of... Well... She was the one :D
      Unfortunately the very work that I have been doing to afford such beautiful dolls has also been keeping me away from them >< Arvid had the same effect and I fear for my bank account that Claude has as well xD

    10. When I first decided to buy a doll my friend who is also in the hobby suggested LUTS. I went on the site, hit the 'Kid Delf' button and set my eyes on Bory. Well, I looked at all the other dolls, but I knew that I wanted him when I'd seen him ^^ I've had him for a while now.

      Same thing happened about a month ago, I discovered the Senior Delf Howl, planning on buying him in November/December. I just know, you know? That they're the dolls for me.

    11. I guess that my "The One" would be the only one I own! Very very long ago when I first discovered BJD, I saw DOD's Homme Ducan and thought for sure he would be The One....but, I looked at owner photos and was....disappointed. :/ That is when I decided to check out the MSD dolls, and...there! I saw the new release, DOC Homme Kirill and that's when it clicked! I knew it this time, because with every owner photo I saw, no matter if I disliked the wig or the face-up, I still loved him more and more. And whaddaya know, he's now my first BJD. :) It's not often that I come across a sculpt that I KNOW is "The One," so when I do come across one, I'm very serious about it.

    12. I haven't had the exact feeling of THE ONE, but while looking at ones for my wishlist I do see one's that speak to me. Ones that I have to get for my collection. It just happened for me the other day. I've had my eye on DZ Mo-3 and while looking at him I just knew I had to have him. It was the same way when I decided to buy Kaylynn my RS Mei. I HAD to have her and when I opened her box I was breathless when I saw her face in person for the first time. It was such a lovely feeling. I can't wait to get THE ONE when I find him/her.

    13. Yeah, the first time I saw the doll I ever wanted I had that feeling. I pretty much bond form the box, with some it's more of a stronger feeling than others, more instant, but I love tham all the same.

    14. Migidoll ryu. From the day I first saw one till the day I die, I KNEW he would be mine, and he is, and even before he had his wig, eyes, body, or a faceup (still waiting on that one after two years.... eheh...) I was (am) in love. Dear god this doll is perfect for me.

    15. i believe i was fourteen years old and i was surfing around the net when i stumbled across the DOD site. i scrolled through, looked around a bit and when i realized these were DOLLS, i was astonished. i came across Sha, and though he was androgynous, i fell absolutely in love. i looked at others and immersed myself in the doll world, trying to find a cheaper fit.
      i ended up finding my first doll, a DollFamily LingFeng, in that attempt. he fits my tastes and lifestyle to a T, and a year later i finally got that grail doll, DOD Sha. i suppose you could say that feeling of "This is the one" drove me to find BOTH dolls that were "the ones."

    16. I've always just clicked with Lux, even when he didn't look quite right. However, I was at a doll meet up recently (to collect some items from a group order I took part of) and for the first time, Lux accidentally ended up looking just so perfect, so right.:

      [IMG]

      So perfectly and rightly ghostly. He finally looked like the saucy, undead, scientist-muse I pictured in my head. Sometimes he looks too alive for his own good, even with the correct eyes, wig, clothes, and accessories on.

    17. I had wanted a Volks Luna for years, but had kind of given up hope as her market price just kept shooting up.

      I had been looking at Suiseiseki/Souseiseki for a little while and although I wasn't as in love with the sculpt as Luna, I thought she might be cute to have around for dressing and modeling clothes.

      I got a lucky break when a friend of mine knew someone who was selling a Suiseiseki for a really good price. She had gotten her thinking she was "the one" and it just hadn't worked out.

      I got her and as soon as I repainted her I knew. She was perfect.

      I adore her. She's way more spoiled than any of my other dolls and thankfully I no longer want Luna.

      But I would TOTALL get another Suiseiseki ^^;;;

    18. Dollzone LE50 Xi-Aleister with the clockwork extreme faceup. As soon as I saw him I knew that I wanted to collect dolls.
      Now I just have to save up money for him! <3

    19. A while ago, when Tensiya was still open, I was "clicked" by hound. But I was a poor student back then so... And a month ago it happened again - with Angelheim Raul. Gotta get him!

    20. As trite as it sounds, all the dolls I have are The One.

      I have prosopamenisa, which is a form of face-blindness, and if the dolls I buy don't look like I picture their characters in my head, I honestly won't recognize them. Mind you, this does help to keep the impulse buys to next to nothing, which certainly makes my wallet very happy.
