So, I wasn't quite sure if this was the right place to put this, but I am seriously wondering. What is the difference between mobility type thighs and just general thighs? (This is more so speaking directly towards Iplehouse.) Also, which is better? To help understand the difference, pictures would be very very helpful. I've looked at a few online, but I'm still a little confused at exactly where the difference lies. Thanks all. Edit: I can now visually see the difference. I'd still like to know which is better and what the difference is when it comes to posing dolls.
I've got an Iple with mobility joints. I think they don't make a huge difference... but I tend to go for more options if possible, so I get them. I'd probably be happy without the joint, too. This view may vary depending on how you like posing your dolls. That's probably why the reviews are confusing. I don't think there's a huge consensus on it. Some people will think it's worth the extra money and some won't.
Has a long history. ^^ http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?104425-Iplehouse-quot-mobility-joints-quot-Opinions
@ April, Thank you. :] I just wasn't sure if one really was actually better or not. I mean I think I could live without them. I'm not sue I'd be doing any CRAZY posing and such. @Loaky, oh goodness! I'm glad you found that. Thank you. I couldn't find anything else, but I assume the database for things is so massive. xD Thank you guys.
I'm not sure on iplehouse's version of the mobility joint, but all 3 of my dolls have them and they are quite useful to make them pose more naturally. Of note is that there are 2 types of mobility joints, one that is only a swivel and helps the leg move a little so the knees can point in other directions other than just straight ahead. The other kind of joint is shaped like a cone with a slit through the front and it slips into the upper leg part. This kind of joints are used so the doll can sit and raise it's legs, so for example you can have the doll sitting on the floor and hug it's own legs, or have them cross one leg over the other when sitting. The slit on the front of the joint is what makes it possible, because the elastics can slide through the slit and allow the doll to raise its leg much higher than the normal joints would. Take a look at the little elva boy body, the first large pic shows the kind of poses this 2nd type of joints can create: http://www.ddollshop.com/shop/step1.php?number=781
