1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things That You'd Never Do Again

Jun 15, 2013

    1. Never buying another mohair wig - from my experiences, they just so easily acquire flyaway strands and I'm such a perfecionist about hair so I get driven insane by the random flyaways I see, whether on a straight or curly mohair wig.

    2. *stupid,stupid,stupid I really know better but...*
Use fine tipped metal tweezers to adjust/move glass eyes. OnO" Scraped Nicky's eye all up. >n<" *head desk*

Restring without gloves...xD The s-hooks are feisty buggers...and pinched fingers are not fun, either.

    3. Me too. Now I have to find something stronger to take the old face up off. I also won't buy from a certain etsy seller ever again. Took months and had gotten lost in the mail and it was all for one shirt.

    4. I will never again trim the bangs on a wig whilst said wig is on a doll. One little slip and I made a scratch on the faceup. Its only tiny but I know it's there! I also bought a stupid to long wig that just tangled constantly. Oh well live and learn.

    5. painting facup when I have no direction on what I want... or getting distracted. I like 'winging' it and this ends up great with making outfits but faceups I end up wiping or with a faceup I am not happy with for ages (due to the hassle and wiping/starting again) I currently have at least 3 faceups which I really need to redo and get alittle twitchy looking at >_> the one where I got distracted, the eyebrows became rather bushy ... luckily the wig intended had a low fringe which hides them :doh (happy with the rest of the faceup though)

    6. It's sad that so many of these are from buying from someone where something got screwed up! I'm going to try and learn from other's mistakes. No curly wigs, planned face-ups, and no metal objects near my little resin buddies. :)

    7. I have a floor-length wig for a 60 cm doll, and it has come out of its package for pics twice in three years. I am SO AFRAID of snarls. I also always get really long wigs as "random wigs" with purchases, and that makes me cross.

I will never again buy "SD" sized outfits that do not have measurements available. My busty girls (who really aren't very) can't fit into the fantasy or traditional outfits I bought for them, so that's money that I might as well have set fire to.

    8. Count me in for no more curly wigs. I have a beautiful one from Leeke, and the doll it was intended for never uses it because it is such a mess. I plan to either sell it, swap it, or cut it short.

    9. By curiosity, why? Did you had a bad experience with them?

As for myself, never buy items that I want quickly from Alicescollection. It was my first time buying from them and I only bought small things, eyes and boots, but they took forever to arrive! I had no idea most of their stuff was made after orders, even for simple things like what I bought.

    10. I'm never using a magic earaser on a faceuped bjd ever again. I still don't know why I did that :doh

    11. My new baby's wig (tanned Latches elf :) Lati White ) came in (finally!) but it was too puffy looking. O I'll just trim the top a little . . DoH!! note to self. Trim in small increments from the bottom/underneath!! I cut a big chunk off of the top and its really obvious. At least it was a fairly cheap wig but now I have to find another one. :(

    12. I remember when my first doll arrived (dreamofdoll petsha, msd), I showed her to several of my friends, and one of them said something like "her stringing is rather tight". So when I went home I thought "oh well, I'll just re-string her!"

...it was a nightmare in many ways x'D Thankfully, I learned to do it correctly now (altho the doll ended up much tigter than she was in the beginning but as long as she's standing firmly again I won't complain).

But still, in the future, I'll only re-string my dolls if I really REALLY have to.

      P.S. I'm praying that I'll never have to re-string my 10cm dolls x_X

    13. I will never take photographs of my dollie with my cat unless she is totally comfortable with it, last time my little lady received a ninja kick from her!

      • x 1
    14. Never again:

-Use craft acrylics on a faceup (they looked clumpy or bled out)
-Buy a doll because it's cheap (because I'll end up wasting money to reshell it later, or sell it at a loss)
-Settle for the wrong sculpt because the right one is hard to find (REGRET!!)
-Buy from Bobobie (broken doll, bad customer service)

    15. I will never again buy cheap wigs from ebay- they are cheap for a reason, I have about 10 and none of them look right. Leeke world from now on. Its just a shame parcel force delivered my first ever link wig to the wrong house, now sat here waiting for next door to get back so I can get my wig from them

    16. Curly wigs! When I first got my DD Yukino, I bought her a lovely light pink/blonde wavy wig but it was such a pain to deal with. It was so messy all the time, and nothing made it any better. My IslandDoll Amy came with a wavy blond wig that I still put on her, but since it's not a thick it's at least decently easy to deal with.
Also, vinyl dolls. I'm never buying a Dollfie Dream again. They stain so easily and I don't like how they pose.

    17. Never again will I buy a cheaper body for a floating head. I find most less expensive body options unattractive and poorly engineered, which means that in the long run I won't enjoy my doll at all. I hate floating heads, but float they shall until I've saved enough to buy them proper bodies!

    18. Oh my. It seems like this whole hobby is quite a learning experience. I have a quite a few things to add to my "Don't try this" list. Aside from curly wigs and long wigs, there's now a couple of companies that I'll watch out for...

    19. This!! My CP El has a little red slash on him from my nailpolish while I was restringing him. To add to that, I will NEVER try to remove a faceup again while wearing nailpolish!! You want to talk about a disaster, try getting a neon yellow streak on a doll's face that's REALLY hard to remove, even with Windsor & Newton! Certainly learned from that one.

    20. This would be mine XD Kadan has several small marks from different random objects that I used in attempt to restring him (as did my hands for a good week >_>)
So... restringing is what I loathe the most.
