1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Things your family cannot stand about BJDs

Jan 27, 2015

    1. My family hate the amount of money I spend on the hobby. I think they are creeped out by the boy dolls as well.

    2. How much money I spend/want to spend.....

    3. The money. "Why do they cost so much?", "Why is the clothing prized like human sized clothing?" That is like what my mom or dad are saying. xD
Me and my sister tries to explain it to them, but they dont really understand but we like the dolls and they accept it. ^^

    4. My husband loves my doll because he knows it makes me happy. He does not love finding her "staring" at him at night. I laugh when I find her tucked away somewhere or face down on a table. We take it as good fun. :)

    5. My brother is creeped out by them. He says they look too realistic. My parents hate when I spend money on anything, especially since I'm into lolita fashion and video games too. My hobbies are all expensive haha.

    6. The price mainly.
My boyfriend thinks that they are pointless and not worth the money. He doesn't really see that fascination with them at all. :(

    7. 1. The aesthetic. I'm really into bishounen and have been for...ever. I have a fascination with gentle miens on a canvas usually unfit for them, and I love long, luscious locks. Everyone who isn't super close to me always ends up asking, "is that a girl?"
      2. The genitalia and body detail. After affirming that my dolls are, indeed, male (though one seems to genuinely want otherwise), they always wanna see the D. I show them, and the incredulity is suffocating.
      3. The price. I think everyone has gotten this at some point.
      4. The fascination. Not a single person around me genuinely is happy to see me own, show interest in, or talk about my dolls. Most of them tolerate it (my mom likes the same aesthetic as I and was tickled by him), but everyone noticeably glazes over as soon as I say something. I mean, I don't expect them to throw their disposable income at resin bishies, but still.

    8. The price is the biggest problem my family has with BJDs
even if I'm not planning to buy a certain doll, if I tell my grandma about it she asks the price and then starts telling me how I can't be spending so much money on something like a doll (even when I told her that I had no intention of buying it, or any other doll, at least at the moment); its even worse if I tell her that I am thinking about buying though
      My grandma loves Nadeko though
My brother thinks they're creepy but he thinks that about dolls in general

    9. The biggest thing my family cannot stand about my dolls is the price of them. And that I can't leave things like s hooks, feet and hand, eyeballs and etc out on my work table because my nephew will get a hold of it somewhat and swallow it I don't want to go the the hospital and explain to them what happened, what there made of and all the problems that come with it.

    10. It's also the price for me. My family thinks it's nothing but a waste of money because I basically spent all that money for 'just a doll that sits around in a shelf' so they call me crazy haha...
Of course nobody's psyched about me playing with dolls at my age either - but then again my family is kind of simple-minded, my mother does not even have hobbies of her own, and they are all really not creative people so I feel lost with them no matter what hobby it is about (because I am a very creative person).

My s.o. thinks they're creepy. However back when he saw them they had no eyes and were only partially clothed (cause I didn't have anything else yet) so maybe that was the reason?

    11. Like most i think it's how pricey this hobby is, clothes are $30 at the least and the dolls are 200+ plus they are aware that there's more than just the doll theres shoes, face up, wigs and more

    12. My husband worries about the price but he spends just as much on games and computer parts and even though my girl isn't here yet him and his friends found them really creepy until I showed them there were other dolls to be more scared of but other then that my family is pretty ok with it it's just another quirk of mine :P

    13. My Mom is ok with them she is the only one in my family who actually takes an interest at the moment she is trying really hard to memorize all their names she has even volunteered to help me take a few photos! :D My Dad doesn't care I don't think he knows I have bjds...
My twin is the real problem she flat out hates them!!! She will go out of her way to constantly insult them....but hey haters gonna hate

    14. I am very lucky to have a very understanding (and awesome) family who don't think I'm weird because I like bjd's, and even though they don't really like them my mum and sometimes other members of my family still ask me questions about them. Which is really sweet and nice and I love my mum and my family! Though, my mum does get annoyed when I constantly show her pictures of bjd's and I get sad because she has nothing to say because she doesn't actually like bjd's. :XD: Oh, and she thinks mostly all boy dolls are weird (IT IS MY ULTIMATE GOAL TO FIND A MALE BJD THAT SHE DOESN'T MIND THE LOOK OF). HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHSHJSHDJGSKIFUSEJ\G,DJ

    15. When I bought my first doll, her husband and family be played. But gradually they were also charmed by the charisma and beauty of bjd. now my husband has his own doll - dollshe Saint.:) He looks with it football, hockey and considers its mascot. Of course, change, my, look after, take pictures and take care of the doll husband and I, but that's okay. the main thing is that my husband now knows that the best gift for me a new doll.:)

    16. I'm very lucky because my husband is VERY supportive, and is happy that my doll habit makes ME happy. The most common remarks I get are to the effect that they are "spooky", or "I can't stand how they look at me" (mainly from daughters). I was a bit defensive about it at first, but now I don't care. For me they're works of art and I wouldn't be called names if I collected pottery figures or antique cricket bats or anything else that floated my boat. WHY is it (apparently) weird for adult women to like dolls???

    17. My dad seemed to think that dolls were only meant for little girls at the time. He forgot that he still collects train sets and his sister, my aunt is a doll collector. He finally started showing some interest when I started photographing my dolls as if they were alive. He thought that was pretty cool. He teases me about my love for dolls but I always have a comeback for his trains and buses. Gets him every time. The rest of my family I've told about BJDs are fine with it and actually give me advice from time to time.

    18. My dad HATES that my doll has no eyes, I'm waiting for my next paycheck to get Cole some really pretty eyes but until then he currently has no eyes. My dad never comes into my room because of this lol

    19. My mom doesn't like to see my dolls dismembered, especially if I have the head off. So if I'm doing something with my doll that requires the head to be off; I'm mindful of how uncomfortable it makes her and just give her a little warning. But she other wise adores all of my dolls.

    20. I think I'm a bit lucky cuz I don't think my family hates anything about my bjds.

My sister screws around with them and likes to push them around LOL and she is very vocal about how I dress them and wants me to dress one "normal" instead of just them wearing all black, maybe one day I will so she stops nagging me, so I guess she just not into my sense of fashion! My mom loves them and likes to see what I do with them all the time, she specially likes the girls because she likes how pretty their long hair looks, she specially loves their shoes though she finds them adorable, but she does complain a bit about the price although she doesn't really mind it that much because she loves purses just like me and we are used to paying around $300-400 for a GOOD purse, so there is not much room to talk. Although she did find it weird that they had a vagina and a dick, she figured it would be like a barbie or something along those lines so she was a bit disturbed about that. My dad screws around with them as well but the thing he has talked about is the fact that he doesn't understand why they wear make up, I had to explain to him it wasn't really make up but the hues and colors we have on our faces, except it is more obvious on dolls, like the black is not meant to be eye shadow but exaggerated dark circles and such, after I explained that to him he understand and thought it made sense.
