1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Thoughts about 3D printed dolls

Mar 6, 2015

    1. Sweetdolls have a 3D printed fairy. It's incredibly sturdy and is strung. Donn at Bishonen house uses a 3D printer for his prototypes, then finishes them to use as a master for his molds used for resin.

    2. Those Eve cats are adorable! Wish I could afford one for Aoife and Tadzio.

    3. I am currently in a Robert Downey Jr minimee GO. The initial head was designed by the person running the group and then 3D printed. The head is now at Mirodoll who are going to cast it in resin for us. I think 3D printing is going to become bigger in this hobby as artists could design their doll on a computer in 3D. I think there will be a mixture of both 3D printed dolls as well as ones cast from artist sculpted molds. I think 3D will be great for making accessories like weapons, armour and even furniture. The cost will be fairly high to begin with but as the technology and printable materials become more accessible prices should come down. I think there will be many new laws needed so it is not abused (eg: for making recasts) which is why I don't think selling a pattern for a doll head as such would be that common. I assume you could print as many as you like once you have the pattern. It is an interesting topic with many possibilities and I am sure this new technology will have effects on the bjd community.

    4. That will be amazing I think, and every doll may have even face.
Some time the handmade doll with uneven face bother me a lot.

    5. Eve Studios, Makies, and the Silverbeam dolls are off topic for Den of Angels and may not be discussed here. As this thread focuses on 3D printed dolls as finished products, this thread is being closed.
