1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

To hide or not hide your BJD's when you are out of the house?

    1. My dolls are dotted around my bedroom in groups, often in their beds or sitting at their picnic table but as I also have a collection of Barbies I doubt any thief would know the difference. At the moment I take them with me (not the Barbies of course) if I go away for any length of time (not that I do). I would be more worried about my dog getting nicked or hurt. I leave an old dead laptop and iPad with nothing on it around for anyone who likes a challenge

    2. I hadn't quite thought of this angle but yes most of my friends and family do think my dolls are creepy so burglers probably would be no different.;)

Thanks to everyone for their replies. :love

I feel somewhat calmer reading them all. Think the cause of my anxiety is that I have been burgled twice and on one occasion they took things I really valued but as you all say dolls are not the top priority for thieves.

As always super impressed with the size and range of your collection Teddy. Yes hiding them all would be impossible.

Absolutely no one I know can quite believe how much they cost either.

I'm after a body from Switch for one of my spare heads and could not believe how much they had gone up both in cost and postage since the last time I ordered. So now these super expensive items are now hyper expensive.

So the message of the day is keep your authenticity separate from your dolls.

    3. I just realized fire would be something to worry about rather than a robbery. Be careful of fires especially if you live in a place where fires are more likely or flooding or any natural disaster. Sorry i didn't want to add to your worries, but I suddenly realized these natural disasters could ruin my dolls or worse my dogs could get hurt. I think I need a plan for these sort of things now of what to do for my dogs.

    4. I only have one doll currently that is of higher value (my others are monster high dolls) and I feel like I will put them away when I'm going out for a while but more so for fear of my cats than robbers. I have my sewing machine out in my room so if someone was looking to steal things they'd be struggling with that before going for my dolls I feel like. I can also see storing dolls when you're out just to make sure they aren't in the sun or if some accident happens, like an open window and it rains, they'll be safe.

I definitely understand being anxious about something you value being safe, I'm glad to hear that the replies here have helped! If it does continue to bother you maybe consider a locking display case, like other's said, burglars aren't normally after dolls so adding that extra layer of hassle for them to get to your dolls might be enough if the worst case does ever come about.

    5. I normally leave them out. When I went on vacation I put up my favorite.

    6. As I lamented today I personally like to keep all my important authenticity papers in a place so stupid and unrelated that even I couldn't find them! :XD: (I did find them eventually but it was unpleasant)

    7. I worry about my pets getting hurt or lost. Then electronics because of all the information that’s on them, so I tuck those away. But, if your doll is easy to hide, I don’t see any reason why not keep it out of sight too.

My collection would be hard to move when going out, but they aren’t exactly out in the open. I would be sad if something happened to them. They are somewhat replaceable, but I would always miss them. It’s so hard to think about.

    8. I read once that most burglars will totally skip a child’s room. In general, there’s just nothing very valuable in them.I am hopeful that all the dolls in mine would make anyone intent on robbing me think that no adults could possibly live in my bedroom.

    9. I don't hide my dolls when I go out because I do think robbers would have other priorities when it came to stuff in my house. Although I do sometimes think if a robber did get in my cat would trip him. The one time i did hide my dolls though was when I worked as a babysitter. Children will play with anything left out sometimes and that did include nearly tossing a few less delicate items. Much more worried about relatives children or even relatives then robbers LOL.
