1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Tracing a dolls history, creepy or cute?

Apr 22, 2014

    1. I find it interesting but I would never do it personally. I really don't wanna know what the doll was or how it was styled and so on, because even buying a doll/head second hand, when it arrives it's like a brand-new blank canvas to me and I wanna make something out of it without thinking about what it may have been before.

    2. I don't think it's weird, I like to do this if I have a pre owned dolly arriving. I guess it's just curiosity and it also kind of builds up the excitement of her arriving! :)

    3. I don't find it creepy, I find it very interesting. Someone referred to it as " doll genealogy", I think that is an interesting way to view it. I have three second hand dolls, I had not previously thought of researching their previous owners, it is an intriguing notion. I have never sold any of my dolls, but if I had, it would not bother me at all if another owner contacted me while researching a doll's provenance, I would think that was pretty cool actually. Art history has always been a fascination of mine, so why not doll history?! They are most certainly art!
