1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Travelling with your dolls: issues/ideas/etc. Part I

Aug 20, 2004

    1. I only take my BJDs on carry on and have never had an issue even after the whole liquid ban last year.

    2. just get a nice/secure/padded carrying bag and u'll be fine :DDDDD

    3. I just flew to a few different countries in the UK a couple weeks ago (am still on holiday, actually) and I've had absolutely no problems. I just carry him like I would a toy, and sometimes they don't even make me put him through the scanner. Dolls won't be considered an extra piece of baggage or anything, so don't worry.

      PS - I do usually carry him on the plane in his bunny bag from domuya though, because it's a lot smaller than a carry case (which I believe would be considered baggage), and it still protects him and looks cute.

    4. Okay, bringing up going to Florida an all again. So I'm thinking about ruling out Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios to bring Larue to, but do you guys think it might be okay to bring him to Epcot and Seaworld? I really love the sights at Epcot and I want to take nice photos. Maybe whenever I get on a ride I can store him in my bag, but when we're outside I can take pictures? Same with Seaworld, any good photo spot I take a pic and then if I go to a really wet are or something I can store him back in my bag...^^' Does it sound like a plan? Oh, and since my family is going to be in a condo, no maids of any kind will fool with our stuff...^^'

    5. bump. anyone? I would love to hear opinions from those who've travelled with their dolls like this. ^^'

    6. Well..on wednesdya i'm going to maryland and newyhork for vacation and i'm taking macmac with me ^^ I plan on taking him to new york and everything. I think you're plan sounds fine Deathfire :) Just watch your bags!

    7. Personally I would advise against bringing SDs to any place crowded and with kids :sweat That's just my opinion though, SDs being so big. Tinies should be okay, and maybe even MSDs, but SDs are just so big.. you'd get tired from carrying him around too.
      And most likely you'll probably be too busy enjoying the theme park to really take photoshoots XD;;;

    8. I agree with intermission. Forgot to mention in my previous post that when I was visiting SF I carried Rain (DoT Sha) in his travel bag all day, while walking around town, getting on and off cars & the bart. By dinner time my shoulder and arms were ready to fall off. lol It was a nice workout though! ^^; In contrast MSD and Yo-SDs would definately be perfectly OK to lug around all day long w/out the muscle cramps. :) Another thing, I think it would make a world of difference if your carrier is vertical instead of a horizonal bag for long term carrying. It would be easier to move around in a crowd - no wacking little kids heads, smacking ppl in the side, etc- and the weight would be more evenly distributed. Hope this helps!

    9. I swear if I took my doll on holiday with me my partner would slap me lol. However I would take her on as hand luggage.... I dont trust those bag handlers (no offense to anyone if they are one) :D

    10. I'm wondering how hard it would be to transport 3 MSDs to Malaysia, via airplane. They're definitely becoming hand luggage, I would think. <.<;

      What do you guys think of putting them in their original boxes, packing those on top of each other in a soft bag, and bringing it on board? Safe?

    11. Oh god, I'm so nervous about this. I'm travelling to Ireland next year to study for a year and I have no clue what to do. Send or take on with me. I really want to but it's hard because they limit carry on luggage to do much...I'd probably have to ship everything else as a result...urgh.

    12. Oh gosh! I never thought about that! I'll be going to China next year for study abroad, and my dolls will definitely be here by then. Oh...I think I would be really scared of shipping them or packing them away...

      Perhaps a dollsitter?

    13. A doll sitter for a year? Heck, no! D8

      I'd miss the little resin people so much~ ;.;

      ...And no one I actually know would want to care for them. <.<;

    14. Back when I only had one doll and no carrier I used to just...well carry him when I went somewhere. I'd just sit him on my lap when I was on the bus or train. Of course I got a lot of comments about him on the way. In June I will have to take a plane to go to an anime convention. I'm taking both my dolls. I don't want them to count as a carry on since I am taking a lot of stuff. I guess the same method would work. Hmm I guess I'll sort it out when the time comes.

    15. I have been going on both short and long trips with Casilda, my CP 05-Juri. We'we been abroad on holiday, we'we done photoshoots around town and been on daytrips in the car.

      Tomorrow we are going to Tromsø to see the midnight sun, we are going by plane and as I don't have a doll-carrier for her, she'll just be sitting in my totebag, peeping over the top if I have a smallish bag, or nicely tucked inside the bag if it is a bigger one. This is our usual arrangement whenever we go somewhere together, and I have never had any problems carrying her on as carryon like this. On the plain I usually keep her on my lap, or in the bag under the seat in front of me.

    16. i was in korea, it took me 6 to 7 hours to fly...... i was with my doll KISS,i let him sit on my lap on the plane too...... no one look at me weird, those who think that people look at you weird ..... may be you think too much.

      i carry my doll every way i go, in korea and malaysia...... i also bring him to work every day, i carry him in my arm like my pet and i dont care what ever they say.

    17. If you are traveling abroad and plan to take your doll with you, I would suggest you take them in your carry on. I would not put them in the checked luggage. It is often handled pretty carelessly. I've traveled to Korea twice, and the only way to ensure breakables will arrive safely is to carry them with you. One of my new suitcases was nearly ripped in two the last trip I took last year in May. Anything that I valued highly went with me, or I left it at home.
      If you are traveling to Asia, for study abroad, you might actually get the opportunity to visit some of the doll companies. You could purchase a doll while there and not have to worry about the shipping fees. In that case, you might be better off not taking your doll, so it would be easier to bring one back. When I go again, I plan to shop at the doll companies in Seoul. I've contacted a few of them and they said they would be more than glad to have our students visit when we're there again for study abroad. So, keep that open as an option.

    18. I will be taking Ryu on a plane with me too Disneyland and I know what to do with him there but, I would need to take him on the cruise with me. What should I do for the cruise? I would be keeping him in my bag with me always except for when I go to my room on the cruise I would hide him away in my suit case.

      Has anyone ever brought there doll on a cruise?

    19. Gothicwings1366: I would hardly reccommend simply stashing your doll in a room if others have free access to it. Carry her around with you, and maybe get a dollie-raincoat or something to protect her from sea-spray and the like.

    20. Okay, I have decided. Since there was a meetup at Epcot...I think it's safe to bring Larue there X3;...now it all depends on if my dad will let me bring him...I really haven't been in his favor with dolls...I really hope he let's me bring him though...;_; (my dad yelled at me for bringing Larue to church and he yelled at me to put away the sewing machine, b/c I was making clothes for Larue...;_; geez...)
