1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Travelling with your dolls: issues/ideas/etc. Part I

Aug 20, 2004

    1. This one lady thought i was carrying a hamster when i was flying to NC for Christmas xD
I had a floating head (Alexander- SD) and all he has was a really fluffy wig and his eyes and seeing as he was so small
i thought I'd just carrying him with me
but this lady comes up saying, "Ma'am, I'm sorry but you really can't carry a Hamster on this plan without a cage....."
I was so confused till she pointed to his head xD and had to explain it was a doll not an animal

    2. That is hilarious! I wonder what she was thinking when she thought it was a hamster?

    3. Not TSA, but flying related. I flew from Atlanta to Orlando last night, and had my AoD Zi Yuan with me. While waiting for the flight to board, I was nearly assaulted by a group of guys. One insisted that someone my age (29) having a 'babydoll' sent the 'wrong message to little girls'. When I told him I didn't care about the 'message' I was sending, he told me rather aggressively that if his kids were there, I'd 'have to care'. Another informed me that I would be killed (KILLED?!) for having her in public in his country. Seriously, what the heck is wrong with people? Mind your own freaking business!

I just had to vent, because that was a serious "WTF?!" moment. Sadly, the plane started boarding before I could gather my wits enough to think about reporting those creeps for threatening me.

    4. Oh no... vent. That is horrible! Threatening people is just so stupid. And maybe they didn't realize there is a difference between BJDs and babydolls. I can understand the very realistic babydolls because someone once left one in the car and people thought the baby was going to die from the heat. Still not worth KILLING someone over. *rolls eyes*

It's like one news report talks about Pitt Bulls and now people are scared of any dog that even looks like one. However most people don't even know what pit bulls look like!

Dogs, dolls, whatever it is but people just generalize way too easily. Quite sad.

    5. Mmmhmmmm....... we hecho en Mexico....made in Mexico means we can suck the alcohol out of a deodorant stick and still have the need for more! =) now need to train my boys to take more than a thimble of Smirnoff before they pass out.....light weights.

    6. What??? That's utterly ridiculous. I don't understand why they even approached you let alone made that comment about being killed. What the heck country does he live in that people are killed for having a doll?!

    7. @Princess Aris, that's so dreadful to hear, and to think those people were aggressive! You should report to the airport about this harassment, perhaps to the guy in charge of boarding, or if those guys were on the same plane to you, to the stewardess or someone in similar position. I'd be really pissed if I were you!

I myself would love to bring my boys with me if I ever venture overseas, especially to Japan or Korea. :) And hopefully, I'd never have to face such rudeness!

    8. Hm, if I'd be able to think of it in a situation like that, I might end up saying something like "He's not a babydoll - he's a badass evil mage and if you don't stop this, he'll come alive and gouge out your eyes." Not very smart maybe but it might just weird them out enough to leave me alone ...

I'll be visiting a friend in the US next year. I don't think I'll take any of my dolls with me. Maybe little Loki - he's a Realpuki and can fit into my purse easily. Or my jacket-pocket. *gg*

    9. Just FYI. Next time in any airport if anyone BEGINS to harass you, scream and yell for the police.

Then when the police arrive, tell them tearfully that the man was trying to molest you.

Then get on your plane and let him try and deal with the consequences.

    10. Accusing him of harassing her would be good enough to get security to come to their aid. Just say the guy is threatening you (which he legitimately was), and they'll probably help you out.

    11. I decided to bump this thread instead of starting a new one. I have a quick question: when packing dolls for a move, is it okay to leave their clothes on? I can't think of any reason why they need to be stripped, but I wanted to be sure there isn't something I'm overlooking. I have a decent number of dolls, so it would be a huge hassle to undress/redress them.

    12. When I moved overseas to Japan I stripped my doll because I was worried that the being squished up in my carry-on would cause more rubbing than usual and his new black clothes might stain him. I also had 24 hours of travel/wait time so it could depend on how much travel you have ahead of you. If you're traveling by car you probably would be fine with them but if you're worried just take any clothes you think might stain.

Usually when I travel short distance (to an anime convention or something) I don't take their clothes off but I do take off their wigs (so they don't get frizzy), put face masks on them and remove jewelry that might scratch them.

    13. When I moved in '09 I had 3 MSDs at the time. I packed them up in my carry on, and they were just fine. They went with me from California (my original) to Buffalo, NY; then from there to Philli PA a couple months later, and followed after my final destination to where I am now, Floirda. Each time they came with me on my carry on. If I had more, I would have done the same thing. In all honesty, if I had a wholee bunch of dolls, I would have just put them all in a carry on, packed between clothes or what not, and only bring them with me. Everything else is expendable. XD

    14. I took my boy up to Colorado with me, I didn't have any problems granted I never did leave him alone. So I would recomend just keep him with you and have fun wherever it is you are off to!

    15. I just moved last month. I had all of them packed with their clothes on and I had them pack for a freigth truck move. Let's just say it was a big move from VA to CA and I had lots of stuff to move plus lots of doll which couldn't all join me during my roadtrip. It would have been too hot in the car for them. The freigth was tracked and I had them waiting for me at a warehouse. They all came home safe and sound. Oh and the guy who put them on the freight tray had the dolls placed in the middle and all othe boxes of stuff surrounding them to protect my babies.

    16. I'll be taking my boy with me to Reno for Hot August Nights. Although, I may not take him out of the hotel room...I am debating that because I am worried something would happen to him whil ewe look at all the cars and stuff.

    17. I usually go to France with my dolls, they stay with me, in cabin, but some ever traveled in my big luggage.
      No trouble for me.
My dolls are from Puki to Unoss.

I often carry my Yo or Littlefee/Puki with me in car, bus, train, airplane, leave in the hotel, put in the water, sand, trees etc
I just take care and got no trouble.
I carry them inside tower or in the littlefee cushion/bag.

    18. I try to keep my vacations as stress-free and streamlined as possible. That means my dogs go to a kennel or dog sitter. That means packing light... and BJD's don't fit into that equation.

Totally different if the purpose of my vacation is to go to a meet-up or something like that.

    19. I took Alice on a vacation/day-out twice already. So far, no problems. Though I kind of have a hard time carrying her in the train since she doesn't have a proper carrier yet. Safety precautions are taken though (large bag, tons of pillows...).

On the venue, I don't really put her down except for photo-ops. I also don't let strangers touch or carry her. I don't want any accidents to happen when others are carrying her. :o

One thing I don't like about bringing her is that she's heavy! And she gets heavier towards the end of the day (because I'm tired already). XD

    20. It depends on how long I will be gone. If it's for a good amount of time (like months at a time), I would take one or two with me :) Otherwise, I think it's better that they stay at home. It might be safer at home for them, too.
