1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

U-noa 1.5 Lusis and Sist pre-order info 2011

Jan 22, 2008

    1. grrroooan. . . is there any way to go around the CS fees?

    2. I´m so tempted to buy a Sist to my Dahlia (Lusis) as a friend but I really want to save the money to buy a Chibi Unoa as a little sister to Dahlia instead! GAH! Where is that moneytree when you need one? XD

    3. No, unfortunately. But I think that's it worth it though because they take care of everything for you.

      I never have money when they do a Unoa Pre-Order, to bad they don't offer layaway. ;-;

    4. Innocentia - Heeh, great minds think alike! I'm buying a Lusis this preorder and saving money to get her a litte sister in Lilin.

    5. To order Direct from alchemic Lab you need a Japanese Address and be able to pay by postal wire transfer. The Having a japanese address is easy to get around but the payment by postal transfer/bank transfer is not. I have not found a way to get past that method of payment other than having a friend in Japan do it for me.

    6. ..I need to do a lot more saving... Like I have around $553 BUT I want to get all the faceplates. So I think I have to wait a bit longer.. unless I win the money Lotto- then I'll buy lusis, sist, and those adorable boys. (along with many other dolls :) )

    7. For me last year my total was a little over $600. And since I do no do face ups, it was going to cost me around $650. Of course, I didn't save up enough in time, but I put my addie into crescent and that was the cost with shipping plus the cost of who was doing the face up. I will say this, once I did get her I got her in kit form....and they really are in kit form with pieces of resin you have to cut and sand off (not seams, actual resin chunks that had to be removed to fit the pieces together) and you had to glue some of the pieces on and then you were able to assemble and string her. So be prepared for the kit! I tell you what, it is a bit of work, but I would do it again for a unoa boy <3

    8. The faceplates will not be in this pre-order. It is only for the girls and the large bust part.

Faceplate pre-order for 2009 was back in March. You will have to wait until next year for one to come up again. Or go 2nd hand.

    9. I got a Unoa via Cresent's from the 2007 preorder and she cost me $420 (without large bust) + $35 EMS shipping to the US. And since the exchange rate back then was about $1 = 120JPY, the retail price would have been about $332. So I agree, I'd also expect a markup of around $100 this preorder.

I sold my Unoa before I even assembled her and I wish I hadn't 'cause I love Unoa and they certainly haven't gotten any cheaper or easier to obtain! The exchange rate is discouraging, but I figure (and hope!) a large bust Unoa kit with shipping shouldn't be too much more than $600. Better than the second hand market, but still . . . ouch. *shakes fist at economy*

I wish we knew how soon the Chibi kits would be available for preorder, I'm not sure which I should get.

    10. Dolly I agree with you! Its kind of like which do you want more.. the Regular or the Chibi.. such a hard decision @_@

    11. Whoa.. the chibis cost $795 without shipping and customs.. I'm so definitely out. Anyone want my spot? @_@

    12. Count me out--- I am not that much in love with the Chibis. For $795 plus $45 shipping-- does that include all the extra faceplates or is it the one default in the pic?

    13. I just got my emails from Crescent Shop today so I am way behind on the news. I skimmed through most of this thread. And forgive my ignorance, but what is a "Chibi"? Are they like the regular Unoas - Sist and Lusis?

I have 3 Unoas I did from kits that I bought second hand. Big mistake as I way overpaid. The painted ones being offered, what are they? Do they come with sanded seams? Are they worth it?

Thank you and again, sorry if I missed the information in the thread. I love my Unoas but just never get to them. They sit quietly on their sofa looking bored!

    14. The chibis are so expensive! But, I guess that is 'cause they're assembled and painted by the artist himself, and there are only a few available anyway. Oh, and anyone wondering, this is Roron's order info from Crescent, you can see it yourself on the ordering page after you log in (Lilin's is same but with her wig & eyes instead):

      Face: Painted Default type

      Body: Assembled Unpainted
      * The body on the photo is painted.
But you will receive unpainted one.

      Hands: Unpainted Default type

      Eyes : 12mm Grey
      Acrylic eyes. Made in Japan

      Wig : Grey Brown (Original)
      Standard Unoa size

      Order Limit: 1 per person

I'd imagine that the kit versions will be comparable in price to other Unoa kits. I hope the Chibi kit preorder is announced soon after the 1.5 girls preorder! :aheartbea If anything I just want to know when it'll be so I can be sure to have the money ready.

    15. I've never been a huge Unoa fan, but quite like the Chibis - maybe something to do with the size and comical faces. It sounds like a lot of money when it doesn't include all the face plates.

Does anyone know why Alchemic lab haven't followed all the other BJD makers and opened a website offering international sales? Seems odd to me.

    16. I'm pretty sure it's just the one in the pics. And for $795 why on earth isn't the body painted..

    17. Gentaro Araki is a famous illustrator, animator, original modeller, columnist and much more. He has much more to do than u-noa. Not all BJD makers have international sales running and international website takes a lot of work.

Even the Japanese lottery dolls don't have painted bodies but the hands are painted unlike the crescent kits.

With no mention of it containg the extras the Japanese lottery dolls have the real question isnt "why isnt the body painted?" but "why is it $385 more than the retail price for the kit for only an assembled doll with a painted face?"

    18. Yea AENEAS I think you put it across better ^^;

    19. Akari Gentaro used to produce all the Unoas in his shop. They were limited in number and were not available outside Japan. A couple of years ago he contracted a third party shop to cast his kits so that enough kits could be produced for international sales, and Crescent Shop is the company (or one of the companies, there may be others) that take the international orders.

It is really much easier to get Alchemic Lab dolls now, but I don't think Akari is interested in doing international sales through his company.
