1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

USA Volks Store?...It might happen!

Feb 21, 2005

    1. It was a joke.. ha ha? :oops:

      And no offense, but I'd imagine that the chances of Volks placing their first major US venture in a city that's pretty inconvenient to them is, well, nil.

      I have yet to see a doll shop in any Chinatown in the world, if you've found one I'd love to see picture! :D

    2. ++

      I KNOW it was a joke, but it was still rather out of place, you know? :(

      As for our Chinatown - Boston has a LOT of neat stuff there, you just have to go into every store, instead of skipping past the 'scary' ones. ^_^ I actually was getting hit on by a Chinese man who owned one of the stores, and I was really embarrassed, but I found this gorgeous tea set there. ^_^ None of the stores in Chinatown foxus on one thing, anyways. There are even stores there that sell fish, toys, and DVDs all in the same little 25 foot x 25 foot space. o.O

    3. Oh, LA, hmm?? Any ideas when they're plannning to install it?

      *checks 2007 calendar for Senior trip* :D

    4. shop in us? :grin: :grin: YAAAAAAYYYYY. sorry, wave of emotion. does this mean no hasseling with high shipping problems, no more customs, easy access to volks bjd, greatness, oooo i'm soo happy!i!i!i!i! LA huh. all the way across the country from where i am. that may present a problem. but still totally cool. will they maybe be able to send dolls from there instead of japan to east coast? i live in PA. still soooooooo happy!!! :oops: :|

    5. I don't really think she was trying to put down Boston XP Just like, there are anime stores here in Houston and a fairly large grouping that goes to A-kon, but it wouldn't compare to setting up shop in New York or LA. From Volks' stand point, LA would be the most convienient, as will it have the most likely demographic appeal. As much as I would love to see a Volks outlet in Houston, Boston, or Chicago, I think their first US shop would have to be coastal, and LA has the chance of picking up the largest audience.

      No matter how you look at it, a US shop, no matter where it is, will always be easier to get to than a Japan shop. Yes, it'll be expensive if it's not in your home town, but it won't be near as bad as hopping on a plane to Japan.

    6. I really... don't see this happening. I know people have compared it to anime, and anime IS expensive, but it's not anywhere near as expensive as Dollfies are. Yes, ipods are expensive and everyone has one, but I don't see parents buying their children $300+ dolls just because they want one. And that's only considering MSDs. All the others are even more expensive.

      I think, at most, more doll collectors will have them. And maybe more people at anime conventions. But I don't think it's going to become a problem...

      Besides, if you only like them for the rarity, well... I'm not going to say anything about that, cause I don't think I can be nice. I would LOVE for more people to have dollfies, as I like sharing my hobby with people around me. But it's a nitch market and I don't see it growing too substantally, just because of a store in the US.

    7. Nope, I wouldn't care. If anything, it would lower the price, so it wouldn't cost me $1500 everytime I want a doll.

    8. These are $1000 dolls we're talking about here. I don't think many people would be that willing to shell out that much cash for a mere fad.
