i also wonder, will there be any way to know what the LA volks store has in stock without actually living in LA? a random trip to LA isn't really possible for an illinois girl such as myself... would i have to get a friend in LA to check for me? sorry, i bet the answer to this is obvious XD but i'm curious!!
Ah okay, I took the SD to mean just the big dolls and didn't think that it was talking about the TYPE (resin) and meant they exclude the 1/6. ^_^;
I think you would have to actually go to the store to see what they had. Maybe you could also call and see if they had what you need in stock...?
Volks Stores that carry any SD stuff carry stuff for the entire Super Dollfie line, including MSD, SD13, SD, SDC cute, etc. When they say they carry SD, it means that they carry Super Dollfie of all sizes and stuff for all of them... using SD as a blanket word for Volks' line of ABJD. Does that make sense? So, while stock may be low (like sometimes SDC stuff is hard to find.... ) they carry stuff for each of the size ranges, etc. So don't worry about that. I hope that they carry 1/6 dollfie, DD, WTG and model kits too (like the akihabara store... pardon my spelling please) There is no way to know exactly what is in stock in a Volks store, other than, say, calling the Volks store, I guess. Though you can take a pretty good guess by knowing what Volks has recently released on their website, or on the last Dolpa, etc. You'd have to have a friend in LA check for you to see what they have in stock.
I hope they do too. It seems like it's getting harder and harder to find the right 1/6 doll bodies I want without having to pay an inflated price for it. It would be nice just to be able to walk into a store and pick whatever you want off the racks. :grin: Plus, after I order my FCS doll from there, I'm going to make her a Dollfie Plus so she can have her own "Super Dollfie". It would be great to get them both at once! PS: And I've always wanted to see a DD body up close. :grin:
I'm hoping a lot of people who live in LA would share information and photos with us when the store opens. That would be a very long thread! I couldn't even get to sleep last night, I was so excited. I figured I would be thirty by the time I could finally buy my own SD, since I want to be there to recieve it. Now, I might only have to wait a year or two. Still, a long time, but totally worth it! Too bad it won't be a Sato, though. I love the Sato exclusive heads for MSDs.
Hi~ I got a response from volks about the VS memberships >w< I'd asked about those who own 2nd hand dolls that still have their papers and stuff (or 2nd hand in general) and they said they are still working out the membership thing.. so likely they may take that into account when they announce how to do their memberships. Yay!
Having a Volks so close (okay across the continent but better than half a world away!) is such great news. I wonder how one could get hired? I know I'd personally move if it meant I got to work with BJD's!
I'm hoping they are lenient with second-hand owners who may not even have paperwork, since the options for getting Volks dolls have been very limited for a lot of us in the past (ie: finally finding the limted head mold you wanted on Y!J, then having to acquire a Volks body elsewhere, etc.) For example: if we BRING IN THE DOLL to prove we have it, hopefully they would allow a registration...
This was mentioned on the ex-thread, but I can't remember if it was confirmed or not: the Volks online store will be selling to customers living in the US. True? If so: Yay! :grin:
http://www.volks.co.jp/en/index.aspx To answer the question about the Volks on-line store selling to people in the US, it already does. No info has been given as to whether shipping costs will change once the retail store opens. Will have to wait and see what Volks does. Since they manufacture their items in Japan, I will not be suprised if shipping remains as it is. Just have to wait for the next announcement from Volks I guess.
my guess is that shipping will stay the same, as my guess is that it will still come from Japan, but who knows. ^_^
but we won't need to worry about that any more, 'cause I'm sure our good friends in or near LA will be more than happy to do the occasional shopping service for us all. :wink: [/silly]
I was just imaginning my self asking my father to buy a doll for me as he goes in buisness trips in LA often, so fun just to imagine the look on his face
do you think the prices for the dolls at the store might be higher, because the store would have already payed to ship the dolls from japan? they would still cost less in the end though, because shipping in bulk by a company is much cheaper. i think it will be so nice to go to a store and pick things out and pay at a register and get your items right away. and i bet the staff will be so nice! maybe i can go to california on christmas vacation....and get away from the snow too.
I think so too! Just the thought of being surrounded by Super Dollfies and SD accessories makes me want to both sing and drool at the same time (just don't do both, it gets messy. ops: ) It'll be so cool to talk to the staff there, I bet they will be so nice. :grin: I wonder if they will be surprised by how many Americans know about Super Dollfies? Either way, I hope they have a good time in America and get lots of polite customers.
...I think I'll have to see about getting myself to LA in the somewhat near future. lol But plane tickets are expensiiiiiive. lol I still wonder if they might have an exclusive FCS head or two...certainly hope so anyway.
It would be so cool if they made heads that you could only get at the LA shop! That would make my day! :grin:
