Yeah, I don't want them to revoke the FCS in LA because we have people buying for others...I also heard that they don't like it.
I don't think they would revoke FCS. I have heard tho they really prefer that people order their own dolls in person, that is why there is no internet FCS at this time. I have heard of one person who was given a hard time recently at the Sate FCS because they were ordering for someone else.
I'm not saying they would take it away if some people do it...but if we have it as most people do it like that or something.
I think that's a lot for a state with income tax o.O We're at nearly 9% here (and 9.-something for prepared food) because we refuse to legislate a state income tax. Sacramento's sales tax is 7.75% (or was when I moved away in 2001.) Everytime I hear I can buy doll stuff in the US, in person, I get really excited until I remember I'm not going to be paying the retail price -- I'm going to be paying retail plus tax which doesn't wind up being all that much cheaper than retail + shipping. If you bought, say, Link at $750, he'd be $812 after tax, versus $850 from Volks' site. That's all I meant. (And I'm still excited to be able to buy stuff in the US, of course, I just kinda wish I were from Oregon and could shop at Volks tax-free :P)
I'm sure you could ask somebody to do it, I just think that the US one will be more accessable and therefore more services for it thus bogging down Volks. But if you get somebody who is already going to go there or something. It's the services that make me worry. As for tax, I'd rather buy my doll in person than online so I don't mind paying for it.
I wouldn't mind lol. I'd fly up there, it can't be that much worse to go there than to go to LA for me...but either way it's in LA and that's the way the cookie crumbles eh?
Yep yep. i plan on going to the store in the future. i go down to LA once a year to visit relatives anyways unfortunatly this year ill be going next month in sept. just before the place opens
Regarding FCS: I just stated an interest because... although i'm sure its lovely for people in LA getting FCS... other people might be heartbroken to know that no one will off FCS there and may as well do it through a service anyway.
I was just posting here because it is a little early to know what will happen with the Los Angeles FCS, and too early for people in the area to know if they can help out with others FCS orders. So best for everyone to wait and see. I would bet that after this latest Dolpa is over Volks will be providing more info as to the store, registration and more. Think of it as waiting for Christmas!
I just walked in the door and my doorstep was the new issue of Volks News. On the back of the issue there is a list of all of the Volks shops, "The Showroom Network". On the bottom of the page... ...is news about the Los Angeles/Torrance store!!! There's a picture of the actual building??? It's a really nice Spanish-style place! They mark the opening month as October. They will have Tenshi no Sumika, a shop, something in kanji I can't read and a "labo". They'll also have a web shop based out of the store. There's something about Palos Verdes and an SD owner only salon???? Cursed kanji >_< If anyone received the Volks News and can read kanji better than I can -please- fill in blanks
information from Yuzuko: It says that their LA foothold will be in Torrance area, not only shop(of course it icontains Tenshi no Sumika) but also office and laboratory (I don't know what it means though) will be open there. They'll ship their items from LA to their web shoppers. It also says that in Palos Verdes they'll have special Guest House(salon) only for SD owners. Palos Verdes is pretty close to Torrance. Torrance has a lot of Japanese stores there, too. I'm going to start trying to research some hotels there this week, so that it will be easier for everyone. ^_^... if anyone gets more information, please let me know asap! I've edited the top post with all this info... so that we can keep track. ^_^
Interesting! Torrance is a Japanese neighborhood, roughly between Los Angeles and Long Beach. About 5 minutes away from each other in Torrance is the Mitsuwa Marketplace, on Western, and Marukai on Artesia. That Mitsuwa is the flagship store. It is a grocery store attached to a sort of mini-mall with 6 or 8 restaurants, a book store, stationary store, video store, and stores with various cute pens, cosmetics, and stuff. The grocery store usually have 5-10 varieties of Re-Ments! Marukai is a membership-based grocery store. You don't have to be a member to go in, but you get discounts if you are. There is also furniture, cosmetics, appliances, and tons of other stuff at Marukai. I would say these stores have about 90% Japanese patrons. I highly recommend them to anyone coming in for the SD store.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Sorry, I just lost it there. Oh My Gawd, I was so hoping they would be in Torrance. It's soooo close to me and a couple other people here. Spanish styled building, hum. Aimee, I can totally help out since Torrance is a hop, skip and a jump from me. If you need someone to stop by specific hotels let me know. As for anyone flying in, Torrance is in between LA International and Long Beach Airport, so either one will work just fine. Oh, I have shivvvvvverrrss  edited to ask if anyone can scan the photo of the new building? That would be really helpful.
*screams* and passes out. No! way..... Oh my gawd... that is bad... bad for me. That is absolutely shocking...... ooooh.. man. but how very Cool!! whoa... can you tell I'm freaking out here. Mitsuwa is about... 5 minutes from me, if that! Hmmm? I'm gonna go and investigate this spanish style building, hehe..... There's quite a few hotels & motels around here. Marriot, Super 8, Travelodge e.t.c too
Awesome!! If only could have a sample pic of the location the "Spanish Style Building" to see where it may be. I'm just curious where it will be located. Oh! Julie I just realized you got Sakaki! Isn't he *Beautiful*? I love his gentle and sweet expression.
How does one go about registering their SDollfies? Is it regularly done, even if you bought on the 2ndary market? Alex 8)
When I lived in Cerritos, we'd go to Torrance every week to hit Mitsuwa and Marukai.. Mitsuwa for books and lunch, Marukai for our actual groceries. Aauh~ I miss it~~ Mitsuwa has the best Lo Mein at one of their restaurants ; cheap chinese style.. SO GOOD. And of course, the sole remaining Asahiya bookstore in that area, IIRC... I wish I could go =w= You guys have fun, though!
