Volks LA Dolpa SD16 Release- Ruby and Garnet

I am really looking forward to seeing what other people do with them though, I never liked Olivia much until I saw what others had done with her, now I love her so much that I own one!

 

I think Ruby and Garnet are pretty stunning...but not as Volks dolls. I think the giant lips on Ruby's default pics from Volks kinda ruin the entire doll for me. Garnet is actually rather pretty. Makes me think of something that might come out if Dollmore and Dollshe joined forces to make a SD16-type BJD. XD

I'm just so used to seeing most Volks BJDs with more rounded faces that it's strange to see these two with such hollow cheeks and strong cheekbones. O_O

 

I placed an order for Ruby - and printed it. According to what I remember, VOLKS was going to charge our credit cards for the SD16 dolls on October 27th. I keep checking my credit card-online, but the charge isn't there.

Has anyone's credit card been charged for their doll?

Or (better yet) has anyone received an email confirmation from VOLKS confirming that all is well with their order?

Didn't mean to offend anyone! Don't get me wrong, naturally large lips are lovely and sexy - hello Angelina Jolie! - but there is a certain look that fake plumped up lips have (that kind of fish lip look) that both of the Volks girls seemed to have. Just my opinion, though.

 

I ordered a SD 16 girl Garnet. I haven't got anything from it yet ether no emails or charge yet. I am hoping there still going to make them for the people who payed since it seems not a lot of turn out for the dolls. Garnet grew on me, and since I love my Olivia sooooooooo much . She needs a best friend.

 

So you have to be at the Dolpa to order her?? IF I have the money I would order her, but alas I don't think I will. I really love the Ebony skin tone they are using, finally Volks has a doll I would love to own, but would be impossible to get

Thanks, I feel a little better. I just want to be sure my order goes through. I did email Volks this morning to see when they're processing the orders. Usually, they send an email receipt. I'll keep you posted.
I'm also hoping they open the ordering up to anyone who wants one.

Yes, the last I heard you had to attend the LA Dolpa to qualify to get one or both. However, if you have a friend going, they could always order it for you, if you really wanted one ... and had that cash - lol.
Runy is the one with ebony skin, I'm looking forward to seeing it in person. I like their sunlight resin and this is a little darker, I think.

One of the reasons I love Volks is their wide selection of sculpts. I have a few older ones and a few newer ones, some more animae, some more realistic. It's wonderful.
IMO - I think Volks think the U.S. market prefers a more western looking fashion doll. They made Olivia for us ... and now these. I personally prefer their boys, but that's just me.
Glad you're enjoying Masha, she's such a special doll.

Am, you're getting Ruby?? LUCKY! She looks a bit like Mieko Rye. She's absolutely stunning. I'm really starting to regret missing out on her. I hope she makes another appearance sometime. Maybe someone will stick her up on the Marketplace at a time when I am flush with cash... I can't wait to see what she looks like in person!

Out of curiousity, are you planning to keep her faceup, or are you thinking of redoing it?

She does resemble her a bit.
I'm not actually keeping her. I really wanted the outfit (for my Olivia) and a good friend of mine really wanted the doll, so we've agreed to split her. I can' wait to see that faceup in person though, that eye make up looks so dramatic. I'm not sure what my friend will do with make up, she's very creative so I'm hoping she adds her own personal touch to it.
And I would think a few will be in the Marketplace after the event's over - so you might get lucky.

Volks answered the email I sent about my Sd16 order - they processed it Monday (Oct. 29th), so all is well.

I got my confirmation email about my order for my girl. I can't wait to see her.

 

Got a confirmation today, also seemed on the DolpaLA page like they were implying they would have some extra Garnets and Rubys available on sale for people who didn't pre order.

 

I have decided that I love Ruby. She is straight up Beyonce! Gorgeous! She is now at the top of my wishlist!

 

I like Garnet very much! I think she has a lot of potentials! The only thing I don't like about her is her face up and clothes.

 

@darkangelxix: She does have a lot of potential! Being a Garnet owner, I love her more once I gave her a new faceup. The default one has its ups and downs, but that too can grow on you. =P

 

I actually liked both the default and how people have styled Ruby and Garnet, they are lovely girls RiaRia. You are so lucky, your Garnet is adorable.

 

I would so love to buy Garnet or Ruby, but that price would be like swallowing a pill the size of my fist, Garnet needs to be loved and would make just the perfect character, damn she would be the LAST doll that's for sure after Limwha's Eva gets here along with two heads.

 

Hmmm like they used a new skin tone...(hoping to see this color more often) BUT the dolls leave me cold. Very "Violet and Gabby" the new CED dolls to me.
