1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks Mini Super Dollfie discussion Part 2

May 19, 2014

    1. Hey guys, I have an older MSD that's using the old system where the string attaches to the headcap and that's what holds the whole thing together. I've been wanting to modify her to use a donut ring but I'm having a bit of trouble finding one that'd fit the MSD. Admittedly I only frequent a few webshops. I was was wondering if anyone whose done this before has suggestions as far as where to buy one?

    2. Hi Revien,

I have some older msd that uses a rubber band to attached head cap to S hook. But I haven't seen a Volks MSd ever strung with elastic going through body all the way to head cap.

I have seen some very old Msd that had rubber pellets that attached head cap/to head. But I don't remember how they were strung.

If you have elastic string going all the way through body to head cap. I would restring elastic just to body/neck. Get a metal washer at hardware store to put at neck and to hold S hook in place. VolksUSA sells Msd S hooks if you need more. I would then get small rubber band and attached head cap to S hook.

If you can please show us some photos.

    3. Yeahhh, I'd rather not stick anything metal to rest against the neck, especially not in this particular doll and even if I inserted a kip under it. I've noticed even s hooks leave little indents outside of the pre-made ones. I'll keep looking. I thought Luts sold some but I only see SD sized donuts.

    4. Cool Cat has MSD sized ones http://us.sk-coolcat.com/front/bin/ptdetail.phtml?Part=other_26

    5. Hi Revien,

VolksUSa used to sell some resin pieces that went into old heads. I can't find it right now but maybe Volks Japan might have it on their website.

    6. Volks resin is nice. Like, really reaaaaally reeaaaaaally nice. It's crisp and solid. :)

    7. Are you thinking of the attachment set? I don't believe they've ever sold an MSD version, unless the SD version can also fit MSDs.

Anyway, my Volks Ian just had her faceup finished by the artist, figured I'd share a photo

They did an amazing job working with all the sculpted parts on the face.

    8. Hi Revien,

Yes, the attachment set. That's it. I don't know if it fits old Msd as well as SD. It's worth asking. I didn't know you had a Ian. Wonderful face-up on a very special doll.

Here's a link to a box opening of member Roterwolkenvogel Ian. So everyone can see the kit of the first Msd Volks made ever.

I also have a friend who owns one. I'll ask her about head attachment issues.

    9. Oooh, what a wonderful face-up! It's so exciting to see another Ian! Ours - Roterwolkenvogel's and mine, we bought it together - is just getting her face-up done.

As for the head-issue, for the time being we just used an S-hook and tied the headcap to it. Vogel will look into it again once she's got Ian back from the face-up artist. I'm sure she'll find a good way to do it, she's really good at restringing and sueding and that kind of stuff. :)

    10. Does the s-hook not dissapear into the body? Though i guess sine its tied to the headcap probably not. I've already modded the wrists and such to be one-touch to make it easier on myself, but since her head has been away I've been really lazy as far as looking into it. At this point the only thing i know for sure is that i'll likely make the cap magnatized. I just like changing eyes too much to keep it as is.

    11. We used a really, huuuge s-hook to hold the head in place. That's why we still need to find a better option. We'll probably go along with a neck donut - either buy one or I can make one myself with Milliput. Still got about half a ton of that stuff. :)

    12. Giggy I love this sculpt! One of my all time favs! So happy someone else loves her too.

Oh Revien your Ian is just stunning! I have an Ian that was strung by Volks. I will look in her head to see if they put the hook in there. I've always thought that hook was SD sized, but I will look.

    13. That is a beautiful faceup on Ian there Revien.

    14. I have a Volks MSD Mihmi who I love very much <3 I'm in the process of changing her character and I'm having a hard time deciding on her name. :/ I was thinking Karen or Yukari. I was leaning more towards Karen.

    15. Hi folks. Just returning to the hobby after a long break and thought it was about time I introduced Laika, my old, old MSD Mika.:)
