1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks Super Dollfie Midi Discussion part 1

Feb 7, 2013

    1. I saw this yesterday. Any idea how much it typically costs?

    2. A year ago, my Midi boy and girl each cost $512.00 before shipping costs; this was with face-up (which includes eyes) and an extra pair of hands. Hopefully the price won't have changed much :)

    3. Oh, gosh! I might be able to swing that! Thank you for the info! :D

    4. IIRC the SDMidi with no faceup and extra services costs $374.00 without tax (if you happen to be in CA) and shipping.

    5. Oh man, yay for SDM FCS coming in May!! I can't wait to see the head options. I really, really want a girl body with medium bust and longer legs. That's what I have for my F-38 and I love the body!!

    6. I'm really excited about the FCS coming. Is there a database anywhere of all of the different options, especially heads? I'd love a girl with a more mature looking body, but I'll just be happy to get a choice from a selection of heads.

In other news, my Mako came home yesterday, and gosh, do I love her.

Her name is Midori and she's a little fox girl.

This was one of those occasions where I opened her box and immediately knew her name and also that she'll be staying here forever. I had an SD10 before, and though I loved her face I didn't really bond with her at all. I absolutely LOVE the SDM size and how well they pose! I think I may stick with the default wig since it's so nice and seems to fit her well.

    7. She is adorable. I love her ears. May ask where you got them or did you make them yourself? I'm hoping to do an FCS sometime this summer I've been wanting to adopt a little sister for my Charlotte.

    8. Her ears are from Sparrowsshop. I need to make her a tail and may make her some fur ears at the same time to match. :)

I definitely want to participate in the FCS ordering period this time. I expect the wait time for your doll is several months after ordering?

    9. Omg I'm hoping I might be able to get in on the May FCS <3 Probably not though ;>.> I just got my first midi secondhand at a con.
They're an FCS-30 on the male body in white skin ~ apparently the face-up is a custom by Volks

    10. CindyG’s SDM Ryotaro Kataoka has joined my Volks tribe. He hasn't picked his name yet but he did raid the clothing stash right away and wanted to be photographed in this outfit first.

    11. @TheBodyVolcanic, your F30 boy is so cute -- and looks like he wants you to order a friend for him on the online FCS. ;)

@passionasfashion, congrats on your Ryotaro acquisition; doncha love his perfectly boyish face? I have one too, and think of him as a child version of SD17 Ryoma <3

    12. Is anyone ordering a FCS doll this month? I'm planning on doing my first FCS order ever, I have narrowed down to two sculpts. :daisy

    13. I was hoping for new sculpts this time. :( I already have the F-20 and F-31 (which were my favorites among the ones offered). Oh well, I guess some other time?

    14. I hear you guls207 :( I was so hoping for at least one of my most wanted heads, but not this time. I am very disappointed.

Ryotaro looks fantastc passionasfashion!! He really is one of the best looking SDM boys ever. So happy to see you are enjoying him.

    15. Thank you ♡♡♡ and yes he does xD I'm really really hoping I can get the money together in time... I want a sunlight skin F-31 on the M-bust girl body :D I have it all set up waiting on my computer:vein

    16. Hello! I am just in love with the F-20 girl on the FCS this time, but I can't really get her at the moment, as I didn't plan financially for it :o

When Volks does more FCS releases, is it likely that she will be offered again?

      Thanks!

    17. Yes, it was love at first sight. Haven't seen him in the company of a Ryoma.

Thanks. He really does it for me.

    18. How well do you guys find the midi does at posing?

    19. Personally I really like the posing of mine! It's fairly simple though, the one thing I wish they would add is a mobility thigh joint so the dolls could rotate their legs. The arms and legs have a nice double joint and I find the arms super smooth and easy to pose. The legs take a bit more of a push but they then kind of "lock in" so the doll can sit on their knees very stably.
I like his posing a lot better than my SDCute, who has double jointed arms but they are pretty fiddly and dont bend as far as I'd like.
The midi also has better neck, wrist, and ankle motion. Mine can bend his hands and feet pretty far and has a good range of motion for his head, while my SDCute has barely any, unfortunately! (But she is too cute to ever get rid of...)
Anyway my dolls arent sueded at all so I'd be interested to hear others' opinions on sueded midis!
EDIT - I thought I'd add some pictures ! Having trouble accessing flickr on my phone right now, so I'm just gonna share Instagram links Dx

Anyway, actually of my current dolls, I think my Midi would have to be my favorite one to pose.

    20. Sorry for the late reply, @Pantalaimon !
Congratulations on your Mako! She's adorable :love
I, too, fell in love with her helplessly even though I had never planned on getting her, like, ever!
There's something about her sculpt that just makes me so happy every time I see her :)

I'm sure you've already found out, but Mako's head size isn't much on the smaller side of MSD's.
She can handle 7-8, but definitely can't handle 6-7 even if it's stretchy.

@captainkyo I also like my SDM bodies' posing very much.
Volks did a fascinating job with them, much better than any other body (SDM/SDC combined) they have released.
I did notice their necks are harder to pose for some reason, but this might be a head issue (I might be able to find out some time soon).
Volks bodies generally don't pose as well as some of the other companies' bodies, but the current SDM bodies are definitely the best 1/4 size within the company so far.
In addition to standing and sitting well, the new arms pose and hold in the air very well.
      Hope this helps!
