1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks Super Dollfie Midi Discussion part 1

Feb 7, 2013

    1. I didn't know that! Thanks! I will definitely check them out.

    2. @ginarolo thanks so much, your comparisons were very useful to me. My Sunlight F-20 arrived a few weeks back and she is lovely but she still doesn't have a faceup so I've not taken any photos of her yet. The faceup artist that was going to do her is not answering my messages, so I've not sent her head off yet as I don't think it's a good sign before she even has the head!! I will hopefully get her done locally instead. She's a great girl though, a lovely size and shape and in my humble opinion, a big improvement on the original Volks MSD body.

    3. After my post yesterday I made a decision today that I'd try giving my new F-20 a faceup myself, saving a bit of money in the meantime! So today I started work on my new girl and I'm very happy with how she has turned out. The only thing I struggled with was making the little teeth white, or at least showing up as being white, because they are white but you just can't see them!!!
Her applied eyelashes will eventually need changing, I only had light brown ones in doll sized lashes, these ones are human false lashes cut down!!! And of course they're not perfect, but I'm happy enough for now. Outfit is from Tree Design.

All I need to do now is find out what her name is!!! More photos can be found on my Flickr account, link below...

    4. She looks great, the natural faceup is very cute!

    5. Thank you very much @kuro , I'm really happy with how she turned out :)

    6. @dambuster01 Your F20 sunlight is so sweet! Her natural face up feels perfect for the look you've styled for her. F20 in sunlight has been on my list for ages, it's so nice to see one here.

    7. Hello! I’m a newb, so I’m not so sure how to use DOA yet:) So please understand if I make mistakes... I try to research it by myself but can’t find it.

I have F33 girl and I got her some 16mm eyes, they looked fine on her but just curious if you guys use 14mm eyes for F33 head.

If you have photos please share :)

Also how can I insert images in a thread?

      Thank you so much!

    8. I think my F33 Theodosia has 16mm eyes, too but I'll double-check. She was a coordinate model, so it should be on her certificate. I prefer larger eyes, so I haven't tried 14mm in my Volks MSD/SDM dolls. If I have time today, I'll try to get a photo, though.

To insert images in a thread, press the image button (just to the right of the smiley face button), and it will give you a cue to add a link. Copy and paste your link into that box. If you use Flickr, they have an option for BBCode directly--just click the share button (the arrow) and they'll give you options for sharing a pic (link, embed, email, BBCode). Copy and paste the BBCode onto your entry and it should work.

There is a preview option when you make a post, so you can check to see if the image is loading correctly. Hope this helps.

    9. Oh wow, thank you so much Reynardine!
:) it helped a lot! I will have to make a Flicker account soon. Almost everything is new to me, even taking good photo of my girls are not so easy for me. I do love large eyes too, but I was just curious about how she would look with 14mm eyes.

I found a really nice eyes but the only size available is 14mm with that color. So I was debating to wait 3 month to get 16mm (pre-order) or just make a purchase for 14mm.

Anyways, thank you so much again! I would love to see your girl Theodosia, but no obligation! :)

    10. I'm fairly new to the BJD universe. Does Volks offer MSD sizing anymore? I'm having a hard time navigating the site.

    11. Hi there, and welcome. ^_^

Yes, Volks still has MSD sized dolls. They are called SDMs (SD Midi) now.

Mako/Dai are their standard release SDMs, currently available for purchase year-round. If you want a different head sculpt, you'll have to look second-hand or wait for a free choice event. :3

Super Dollfie® :: SD Standard Model :: Super Dollfie® Midi (SDM)

      There ya go! ^_^

Oh, and that's from the Volks USA website, but I don't really know what country you are from, so the shipping might come out better from the Japan Volks site for you if you are not in North America. :o Be sure to check!

    12. Hi everyone! Happy new year :) Here's a photo of Sparrow (F43). This photo reminds me of how cute the SDM body is! 10 years ago I said I'd never get a MSD again, so thank goodness Volks came out with SDM ;)

    13. What a beautiful girl @kuro I love seeing these girls in a natural environment, they just fit in so well. And I really like her outfit too :)

    14. @kuro your Sparrow is so well styled. Very pretty outfit. Can you tell me what kind of boots you are using?
They look perfect on your girl.

    15. She is lovely!!! Sunlight skin( am I right) and dark hair matches perfectly:) lovely setting too. I agree, SDM body is so cute.
      Happy New Year!

Hi All, Here's my f-33 girl, Madeleine.
Still need to practice face-up a lot I guess, but pretty content with my first attempt. Want to get a nice photo booth and some props for her... :)

      Happy belated New Year!

    17. @wherethelilacsbloom

Lily is beautiful! I love her color ways, too. Very elegant but cute at the same time. :)
I have a hard time to pose my girls, it's impressive how well she stands! two thumbs up!

    18. It was very difficult to pose her body this way, unfortunately :o And I am a bit obsessed with posing. So most of my SDM girls are hybrids ^_^ SDM heads on different bodies. Lily is getting her new body in another 2 months or so. :o

    19. Oh wow Haha, but still so great that you manage the pose! :) I’m sure that lily will be happy with her new body. Hybrid sounds like a good idea^^
