1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Wait times. . .the sands of time. . .

Jul 3, 2008

    1. Well I am waiting for my first doll and it take 6-7 weeks for her to be made and then another week to be shipped and a few more days added for mail traffic and all.

Im not one for waiting, I hate it and always have! So waiting is a killer thing for me but well worth it.

I have my eyes set on another doll that takes only 35-45 days to be made then shipped! sometimes some of the waiting times seem to be outrageous but then again not @_@ I cant see how people can stand to wait over 2 months or even that...

    2. I waited 50 days for my first doll, and even if it was 50 days of torture, I wouldn't be angry to wait this long for a doll I know I'll love forever *touche du bois*.
And I think it's a part of the industry. I the doll would be already done before you click the order button, it wouldn't be the same thing, no? Now they do them only for you, they create the doll just for you, I think 2-3 months are worth it.

I think that... 8 months is a lot, though.

    3. Although I've not ordered any dolls as of yet, I have been known to wait for things for a pretty extended period. I figure that something that takes so much work is going to take time, and I'm willing to wait. I do keep tabs on how long it takes, in case the actual time is vastly different from the estimated time.

    4. dont buy from soom then lol. i have nothing against them there so worth the wait but if u hate waiting then i wouldnt recomend.. waiting since september for mine ^^

    5. I just heard that my company that I had orded from is really backed up due to their Limited dolls being ordered and sent out first DX So I probably wont be getting mine untill Somewhere in Jan. To mid Feb. I really think that the companies should post something about this, and if they did...then post it somewhere better to where people can see it.

    6. JinMay, the company you're talking about wouldn't happen to be DOD would it?

    7. Yeah it is lol

    8. I see it as a part of industry. I really don't mind long waits. BJDs now are big part of my life - but not the whole of it! I mean I have a lot of things going at once, so can easily fit there one or two expectations in and not to give them any excessive attention. And I never order for any specific date ("oh, if only doll comes for my birthday), so I have no reason to count days.
I'm more impatient about things I personally can change - like earn more money quickly and order sooner. I just can't wait to make my next planned order! LOL

    9. I don't mind waiting. I'm the type who will wait for a month before even thinking to ask the company a question. It's when I'm waiting for far past one month for no apparent reason at all that irks me... There is so much mystery behind the doll-making process that makes me wonder what's exactly happening when a doll takes longer than advertised to ship out. We hear about delays, but what causes the delays when the company keeps tight-lipped about it?

Also, why do doll companies (like Soom!!) release new doll after new doll when there are lots of previous customers waiting months for theirs to be shipped? Maybe it's because they need the money made from the new orders to order resin, silicone and what not...

What I wouldn't give to have a tour into a doll factory! Or even to experience what it's like to produce so many dolls on a day to day basis!

    10. JinMay, you're right, I've been waiting for a month and I know I wont get Konrard for a while just because of the limiteds and now DOD is going to be releasing another limited on top of that! 0.0

    11. But... in the case of a company getting backed up with production, I imagine that in many cases the casting of the dolls is likely done off site. So if that's the case, then the company itself really has no control over the wait time since they are not directly doing the production. It's probably a hindrance to them, too.

So, why should they wait to release another doll? I would assume there are many factors that go into the time it takes to produce a doll, and those factors would vary by company to company. Some dolls are cast directly by the company, others are sent away for casting (I'm saying this based on what I have witnessed with artists sculpts and background knowledge I've gathered while in other hobbies that include resin casting). The people casting the doll may not be the people who sculpt and concept, especially within larger companies... And if those two positions are not related, it doesn't make sense to halt the team that is designing, working on prototypes, and releasing new dolls just because the people doing the actual production offsite have run into a few setbacks.

True, companies could complete the final prototype, send it away for mold making and casting, wait for the first batch to be made and not list and sell them until they are in hand, but that doesn't seem like the best option since you can never really predict how well a doll will sell once its released... Building the hype through teasers while the finishing stages are being finalized just seems wiser, when looking at it from the point of view of the company. That would also give potential buyers time to secure the funds for the new doll.

    12. I'm a very patient person. All I ask is that the company/artist gives a reasonable estimate of the waiting time, and I can wait for months if I need to ^^

    13. I'm rather patient person, usually. When its not about my money, and someone's responsibility.
But when I see people waiting for a dolls (or any other orders) for more then several months, I'm petrified. I'm kind of used to get things I order fast, like 1-2 weeks max. Surely, if it is said beforehead, that waiting time is 30-45 days, I will wait, since I have no any other choice. But if it was mentioned that waiting time is 30-45, and I will be forced to wait for 60-90 days. I will ask for a refund and cancel order. Nevermind I wanted it. Its just not how bussines is done. If I pay a sertain, rather big sum of money, I expect to receive things I want on terms I was promissed.

After reading about all those waiting problems, I'm already affraid to order something.

    14. This right here. When Soom releases a new limited and you go to the doll's comment board, there are always tons of comments praising how wonderful the doll is, but then there are always those one or two comments just going apeshit about "How DARE you release a new doll when you haven't even sent mine out that I've been waiting on for blah blah blah months!?!?!?!?". It always slays me, because by this point, anyone who has been paying attention to Soom KNOWS that the wait times are long, sometimes other people's dolls get sent out a little bit before others, things like that. When they release a really popular limited and they get busy, I'm sure it's hard to keep everything in the precise order the customer thinks it should be in. They are a fairly new company and I don't think they expected the big rage that would be started by their monthlies.

From all the people who have gotten Soom monthlies though, the only thing I've heard them complain about was the wait time. The doll is just as spectacular and true to the pictures. I waited almost 3 months for mine, and he was totally worth it. We all get a little anxious when it finally comes time for that doll you've been waiting on to be shipped, but getting so bent out of shape about it doesn't make any sense to me.

    15. I don't mind waiting for things, if I know there's a wait. I expect small online etailers to give an estimated turnaround time, and to communicate with customers if there is anything prolonging that time. I'd expect doll companies to do the same, and many of them do seem to have estimates on their sites. I do totally understand the frustration of seeing a new limited released when you know that there's still a back-up from the previous limited - that's the sort of thing that if it's done repeatedly can eventually cause serious problems for a company.

I know in reality once I've actually placed an order, I'll be impatient!

    16. Second what Amy said. Also, my anxiousness doesn't just come from omgwanthimhome. If an order takes longer I begin to worry. Did the company lose my order? Did the doll get lost in transit?

I order stuff from different companies all the time. BJDs are the only things I can think of where the wait time seems to not be communicated properly. Is it really so hard to put up a notice saying "Hey, we're really busy right now. You might be getting your doll later." Or even "Hey, we're doing really well this month! Your dolls should ship early!"

    17. My first doll - 4 weeks, with faceup, and a leeke wig.
My second doll - Soom Onyx. One of the first to order her. Also one of the first to sell her because I figured it'd take 1 or 2 months, no one knew how bad the backorder from beryl and sard was then. Was only early June.

It took 4 months for me to get her, and I ordered her right away.
      Four. Months.
Not acceptable when they first said expect it this time, then this time, etc and so on, they kept putting it off, saying another date, later.
      Week after week.

I thought DoD would be better, they began shipping the first dolls on time, but mine is quite a bit later then expected, the 6-7 weeks total they said (5 weeks not including weekends.) Noooo.. My Delphine will take forever. She hasn't even gone in for her faceup yet.

    18. pft I'm such a newbie. it hasn't even been a week since I ordered and I'm feeling very antsy. I'd be afraid to order from companies known for long waiting periods because I'd go crazy! >o<;; But it's in my nature I guess, I'm terribly impatient >__>

    19. i've been waiting a little over 2 months for my first doll.... it was a bad and great idea to order from soom >_< I know I'll love her the moment she arrives but i keep getting all angsty and impatient because I want to have her home
hopefully they stick with their schedule of shipping out this friday :) that would make me happy

    20. I placed the order for my first two dolls last week. One on uh... Like, Monday and the other on Wednesday. The payment for the one on Wednesday's gone through, so I guess she's being manufactured. The girl I ordered on Monday's payment is yet to go through...

I know I'm going to love them both once they get here, but I'm REALLY impatient, so... I've made a count-down calendar to when I'm expecting to get them (Mid to late January). Looking for places to do photoshoots is fun, too. There's lots of nice parks around where I live.
