1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Wait times. . .the sands of time. . .

Jul 3, 2008

    1. For me it really depends on the circumstances surrounding the doll and company.
For example I am currently waiting on Glot and Glati from Soom. These little ones are made to order (ie: they take orders and then make only that amount ordered) and they are limited. I expect them to take more time as they are "special" items, and Sooms situation with their MD's is well known.
On the other hand I am also waiting on a Choa from customhouse. She was ordered during a big sale event in December. I am now approaching 4 months wait and still have no idea when she will arrive. The difference with this one is she is a standard line, suposedly always available at any time of the year. I feel if they are going to have such a big sale then they should have some stock beforehand to back it up. A lot of people are now cancelling their orders. The thing with this order is there has been very little comunication from the company explaining the delay. If anyone messages them they are given a cut and copy reply. I personally am patient and will wait, but I think if they (or any company that experience long delays) would just post why the delay and keep their customers informed then it would not be so bad.

    2. I'm a visual artist, so I understand how crazy painstaking it can be to produce pieces. It takes me forever just to finish the detailing on a painting, so I'm pretty patient when it comes to receiving dolls. I never feel the rush especially if it's a rarer item or something produced by an arthouse. My dealings with companies have always been cordial and I've yet to encounter any serious issues.

    3. i am willing to wait for 3 months no longer, if it takes more time than that i will stress out!

    4. Three months is my time limit as well.

    5. As long as I'm given a ballpark time before I place an order, I don't mind waiting however long for what I'm buying. I'm currently involved in an FCS split for a wig, and have been for a few months now. The order hasn't taken place yet, but the person running it warned me that the order could be delayed until she has the funds together, so I'm not bothered by the wait. 83

As long as I'm informed of a delay, I don't really see any reason to panic as long as I consider the reason to be legit. If I'm waiting on a customizer, or someone who is producing their own sculpts, a part of me is aware that there could be delays for various reasons; same with a company. What if the weather is awful, and a batch of something turns out crappy? I'd rather wait for the weather to change than get something that's been rushed and ruined. What if there's been an illness, or a bad storm has wrecked part of a studio or house? That's nobody's fault, so I'd try to be understanding. I will admit to getting antsy, particularly if I'm excited about the arrival of something in particular, but there are some things that just can't be forseen, and you have to take them as they come.

That being said, I do expect a certain level of professionalism if an order needs to be delayed - both from small-time customizers and sculpters, and from larger companies. It's one thing if you were physically unable to do something, but it's another thing ENTIRELY if you just didn't feel like doing it. If you didn't want to do what I've paid you to do, why did you take the job? I could've given it to someone else, and it would've saved us both the trouble.

    6. I waited about two months for my Mimi. She passed AOD's 4-week mark, so I sent an e-mail asking about her, they said she would be shipped soon...and she was, she arrived on the fifth week. I was really anxious and could hardly contain my excitement, but hey, I'm glad it takes them so long to make, so I know that I'm getting what I paid for :D

    7. The longest wait time Ive had waiting for a BJD was, I think at the most, one month (I have been fortunate here).

The longest wait time I have ever had purchasing in general from a BJD company, was while waiting for a DZ clothing set. DZ was behind in their orders to Featherfall and it took almost 3 months for them to ship the set out to Canada.

    8. My girlfriend and I are having quite a time waiting for our very first BJDs to arrive from DZ. Of course it's no secret by now that DZ is backed up to hell with orders. Originally it was going to take 20-30 days to ship ((because of faceups)), but unfortunately it's now at an estimated 70 days. So we probably won't be getting the dolls til late June, if all goes as well as it can. We were told we could cancel our order if we wanted, but since they're the dolls we've got our hearts set on, we figured a little patience wouldn't do us any harm.

It's disappointing, but finally having them here is going to make it even more incredible after such a wait. We dealt with jeeryama through eBay and she's been very kind to us from the start and most often prompt with her replies. Still ... ohhh, the wait~!

    9. I will wait for ages! The two longest dolls to arrive were my two tan Latis which clocked in at something like 4 four months, and my Sard who was on layaway for 5 months then took another two before actually shipping out.

Rarely to I get impatient. I ordered the Glamourous Bust Eva Louise from Dollmore and have been waiting a month or more. I'm DYING to get my hands on that body so the wait has been annoying, but I'll live.

    10. I have been very spoiled in the past, and am suddenly being pulled up short!

My first doll arrived three days after I made payment, my second arrived four days after payment, this trend continued for a while, all from different companies, the longest wait I had from a company was a week. Buying off the marketplace took longer, funny, all my long waits came from Canada, maybe coincidence, but who knows. The companies involved include Luts, Domuya, Dollmore (they get the prize for fastest) and Dollzone. I never ordered faceups, but all but one orders were placed during special events, limited sales, christmas events, major sale events, the Perenniel release.

Now I recently ordered from luts, and waited a month, no event period, no notified backlog. It nearly killed me! I know that the wait time was acceptable,a nd advised on the site (this has always been the case) but I really was spoiled by early experience. I guess with the hobby growing companies have to keep up with demand, so wait times start getting longer.

    11. I've waited for about 6 months for a doll. The only reason it took so long was because he was a pre-order. The waiting was ok until the final weeks.
The wait- no matter how long- is always worth it in the end.

    12. For me, it's not a matter of how long I'm willing to wait because I cannot make the artist work faster just because I want them to. I understand that there are orders coming form lots of people, all around the world and that it takes time to process each individual order, make sure they get everything right, and not mess up. I'm a fairly impatient person, but I understand that these dolls take time to make. I always expect, at minimum, a month of waiting time, no matter if I ordered a face up or not. Should they happen to send out a doll early, I'll of course be happy, but I'm not going to expect the same thing to occur every time I order a doll. I might ask a question regarding the status of my order after about a month and a half, but I'll generally just wait for them to send me an e-mail. However when there is an event going on I won't write at all because that's usually when they have a massive amount of orders coming in and I know that they need extra time to fill them all. As for waiting more than three months, like for a D.O.D. or Unoa, I would find other ways to occupy myself during these extreme wait times because it seems as if the wait for these two companies has always been that long and will not change just because I'm tired of waiting.

    13. It depends. I waited on a DoD for like................ever, omg, since the company takes forever to ship. The wait time was annoying, but that's the most exciting thing about getting a doll... so once it was over, I kind of missed the anticipation. I think as long as I've built myself up beforehand and KNOW how long it's going to take, I can wait a while. Over two months seems... too much... but it depends on the doll. I'd probably try to find other means to acquire it (like through DOA) if the wait was ridiculous.

    14. I'm currently on my 4th MD from Soom so waiting a month for a doll doesn't seem too bad any longer. After 3 months, I start getting antsy as I really feel that's the maximum a company should take. After 3 months, maybe they should stop taking orders and focus on getting the dolls out.

I would make an exception for someone like Anu from Tensiya where she had health problems - Asthma that made it difficult for her to work on the dolls and slowed up production. I think if companies were more honest about the delays and problems they faced, it may make a difference to people's patience as well. But I'm not willing to wait indefinitely for a doll because there have been instances where companies have sent out a faulty/inferior product after the person has waited months and turned around and used the it's handmade, it's ok excuse. I don't think mottled/marbled/bubbled resin is acceptable when the company can produce perfect dolls but doesn't because they're racing through orders.

    15. I will wait as long as I have to, but I start to get impatient after about a week or two. I think I find the wait with BJDs harder than with say fashion dolls where you normally have a set release date. I find it's easier for me to wait if I know a doll will be released on the 5th of the month and delivered within a week, than a vague it will take a month or two.

    16. I can be both patience and impatient.

When I ordered my first doll, she took three months to come and she did not have a face-up. This is very unusual for Souldoll, who normally take about 5-7 weeks for a doll with a face-up. I read every single entry of the waitlist thread (the old one) and only one person prior to me had reported waiting three months for their doll.

I was pretty good about waiting the first two months, but the last three weeks of waiting were very frustrating. This is also because Adelheid was my first doll which made the wait that much worse.

However, when she came and after I got her all fixed up, she was very much worth the wait.

The second doll I ordered is from Luts. I clicked the button not four days ago and I am not impatient at all. As long as she comes a few weeks before school starts, I'm happy.

Waiting a month or two doesn't seem so bad really. I'd have to really adore a doll to wait three months again.

    17. The way that is seems to work is a month seems to be the standard time. I believe that the companies seems to keep their customers informed of what's going on, so I wouldn't be too worried until about five or six weeks passes and my doll still hadn't arrived. Then I would contact the company and find out what's up.

    18. I'll wait during the time period they say it would take. Mine is expected to be a 10-12 week wait and I'm in my 7th week of waiting, which went by pretty fast if I do say so myself. x3 But yes, I would prefer the company to at least warn me ahead of time if there will be any sort of delay with my doll. I'm actually hoping that my doll will appear during the time they said it would but if the 12th week appears and I don't hear anything, not even a notice that my doll has been shipped to them and I will be notified when it arrives and shipped to me (which I asked them to keep me informed in that way), then there will be some emails sent out asking why there is a delay or why I haven't heard anything from them and if there was a delay. I'm a pretty patient person and I found ways to also help with my patience, like ordering things I need for my doll one by one so that way I'm not stuck with everything and then thinking about when she'll arrive, not to mention my cosplay and life keeps me busy. But as long as I'm aware of how long of a wait it would be, then I'm fine.
