1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Warm Bodies

Feb 14, 2010

    1. hmm, I think it would be a little weird to have a warm doll. Too lifelike. I have a slight fear of inanimate objects coming to life.

    2. If it didn't damage the resin, and it was just the extra materials inside, sure I'd love it if resin retained more heat. It'd be kinda cool.

    3. I wouldn't want one due to fear it would increase yellowing or warp the resin, but... I have cats. I have three fuzzy little shameless heat leeches with fur and whiskers. I have been lucky thus far that they've kept clear of my dolls (other than sitting across one of the Denebs' laps, expectantly waiting to be petted, which was pretty dang adorable). If the dolls were warm, their 'must sit on the warm thing' impulse would be activated and I wouldn't trust them so much.

      Sunbeams? Sprawl.
Me? Oh hey, you weren't trying to sleep there were you?
The space heater? (aka 'portable sunbeam') Their bestest friend. (One of them actually squeaks at it when it stops coming on in the spring. "Why are you quiet, friend? I miss you!")
The heating vents? YAY SUNBEAM EVEN IN THE DARK! SCORE!

...ahem. You can see why I mightn't be eager to add the dolls to the list here, right? ;) I am also quickly realizing why I don't ascribe random behaviors to the dolls so much... the cats catch it all in this house.

    4. I had one of those! Water babies or something they were called. When I saw the commercials I wanted one so bad, but after I got one... It was too much work to always fill with warm water, so it was pretty much always cold and floppy. And since I never refilled it, it would sorta...not a detectable leak, but over time maybe it could evaporate through the rubber somehow? So it would sloooooowly deflate and get floppier...

I had a hard vinyl baby doll that I vastly preferred for my baby doll needs. (And I think that's the strangest sentence I've ever typed, LOL)

Edit: Oh yeah, the actual subject of the thread... I think body heat is plenty. And my cat likes to sleep in doll laps, so she tends to warm them up too...

Edit #2: OMG they still make them

    5. I don't have much physical contact with my dolls to begin with but in the rare cases when I do hold them etc., I actually enjoy the cool resin and how it only warms up slowly.
If I want a tiny heater I can hold and cuddle with, I stick to my kitties.
