1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Weird things non-BJD owners say

Dec 18, 2012

    1. So glad you like it! It's just a fun hobby all around haha :)

    2. It certainly is! :)

    3. Everybody who knows me knows that
      I am a little .. uhm .. weird? ... sometimes :D

I had this happen that a customer ( I am a tattoo artist ) came into the
studio and put my Bobobie Sprite aside from the chair she sat on with the words

"Why is that THING taking a whole chair for itself?"
      and
      I was like
"She is not a THING, her name is Oonagh and its HER seat"

The guy was a little .. uhm ..irritated :D

I always take at least one doll with me, where ever I go ..
and I get asked " Aren't you afraid they come alive and take your soul?"
      quite often.
But it looses the funny aspect the more often you hear it .. *sigh*

      I have a friend, her mother is a puppet-player.
She always greets all my dolls with their names when she comes to visit :D

      She's like
"Hey Lucy, hey Tess, hey Tula, hey Elphie .." and so on ...
She doesn't find me weird in the least :D

    4. My sister (she's 20) doesn't really like my dolls, she finds their eyes creepy. But when I do a good job on customizing I always want to show her. Well, I had done some work on my Rumplestiltskin and I wanted her opinion so I showed her. I then offered that she could hold him and she grabbed him by the legs, causing him to fall forward towards her. I was like "dude, you know he has joints, hold him on the torso", so she did. She then stared at him and just said "I feel like I am holding a small child" lol. It was great because she looked almost disturbed, but that is my favorite part of my dolls: their weight and realistic feeling.

    5. Man, I wish I could remember more of the things people have said to me about my dolls. The only things I can remember right now come from my Mom, who gets barraged with photos from me all the time.

When I got my EID Chase, I sent her a picture. She said: "I like him! He looks like a man!"
It was pretty funny, for some reason. I don't know why she never considered my SID Storm "manly" though, lol

Then there was the rainbow wig I got for my DoT E-an, Lilith. Her response was "That's some wig."

So, I suppose not as funny as it could be, but it gave me a chuckle. I need to take my dolls out more often and record the responses/reactions I get. XD

    6. At the airport I brought my doll to New York and someone said that my doll is like Barbie...o_0

i want to bring her to my workplace so I can get questions and compliments on her cause I have an ego like that, but I'm afraid that she will get hurt in my workplace (I work at a pawn store)

    7. Yeah .. lol .. my Mums first reaction on my Bobobie Sprite was

"She looks like a oversized Barbie doll - you paid HOW MUCH for that ?"

    8. When my mom first saw my Lusion the first words out of her mouth were "that's the closest to a grandchild I'm going to get isn't it?" and ever since has referred to her as her "resin grandchild".

    9. *friends come in room and see doll on dresser*
      "omg he is so pretty!"
      "wow"
      *5 minutes of staring*
"wow he is like, seriously good looking"
another time i had one friend who completely ignored me while i was talking to her and she just stared at my doll and secretly took photos of him. another friend just got a nose job and she kept complementing my dolls nose and complaining that she should have done hers like that :S my family always says "you want to marry your doll don't you?" um..while he may be gorgeous, no thank you.. haha

    10. Dad: *points to dolls boobs* That's her ass.

Me: *flips doll over* No. THIS is the ass.

My dad was being a joker but then he realized my girl was...Anatomically correct and got this disturbed look on his face..Hehe

    11. I unpacked my doll downstairs, and my mother comes up behind me to see what I got in the mail, and the first thing she does is comment that he has a peen. Then told me I couldn't have him downstairs unless he was covered up- which is one reason he wears underwear now.

    12. I always get people saying "Omg! She (even if it's a he), looks JUST LIKE YOU!" ... no.. no they don't :l They all can't look just like me, lol.

My mum isn't a doll person, but I tell her a lot... she tried to explain to a lady what my doll was made of and I don't remember what my mum said, but I heard the lady say "She's made of bone?" .. lol

My boss said tonight while checking my stuff, "So, did your doll steal anything? I'll call the cops on her!" and all I said was "Just souls" and she agreed. lol

    13. My mom asked if my doll was cold... you can guess why.

    14. When a friend's family had their treasured old oriental dolls stolen I told her I would keep an eye online for sales of those dolls. She still talks about "the Dollie sting!" and the fact that I talk online about dolls.

    15. I'll have a friend of mine at work, once in a while ask me if I have gotten any more of those "creepy dolls". He insists on saying that my pongpong, Kiki, talks and says "murder" lol.

    16. The first time I brought my girl to my work, my boss, who is a middle-aged Korean man, looked under her dress and asked "How come she no wear panties?"

And his wife asked, "Why she no have brazier?"

And every time I bring in a different girl doll, it's one of the first things they ask, haha.

    17. One time I brought my SD girl Goldwyn with me to a social for my local sci-fi/fantasy group, and one girl found her gorgeous. We started talking, and then I let the girl hold Goldwyn, and then the girl asked me how much she cost. I said close to $400 - and she handed the doll right back to me! LOL, she was so scared of breaking Goldwyn it amused me.

I also have a 27cm Obitsu (off-topic here, I know, but this story is funny), and until I finish her outfit I have planned for her I have her in this plain brown dress that I'm borrowing from one of my old wooden dolls. She also lacked a wig for quite a while, and before I got her a wig, one of my roommates said she looked like a Puritan cancer victim. XD

    18. Hahahahaha!!! that's terrible! but funny regardless lol

    19. One time, my Iplehouse EID Akando got macked-on by a whole gaggle of Northern California Art Ladies en masse. "Cutie!" "Is he single?" "Oh wow, that's my next boyfriend, right there." And so on. Many photo requests, and a couple gropings of large resin shoulders. I think were even a few wolf-whistles. Well, it was after a reception at the Petaluma Arts Council, so the free wine had already started flowing, and Northern California Art Ladies are always lots of fun when they get juiced.

    20. I can still remember the first time I hooked up with a fellow doll buddy. I walked into her dining room and she had several rows of doll body parts all lined up on the table. It just really cracked me up. I had not started swapping parts out yet so it was a big surprise.
