1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Weird things non-BJD owners say

Dec 18, 2012

    1. This is the best story, I can't stop laughing, ^//o//^.

    2. From my dad:
"Your eyes are in Flushing (New York)!" And I misheard that as a toilet joke. :P
*Looks at two boy dolls together* "Is that a YAH WAY (yaoi) THING?!"
And telling me he'll dress or undress my boy doll because he doesn't want me to see "dollie nudity."

    3. I was chatting with my cousin's daughter, and one of my BJDs was on the table. The causin's daughter suddenly turned to the doll and started talking to her: "Stop starring at me!"

    4. That is too adorable. My boyfriend whispered to me once that my doll's "eyes follow him around the room... she's always watching". Glass eyes can look like they are staring right at you!

    5. My mom was looking at a Realpuki Aki since we both decided if we ever can afford it she's getting a BJD of her own too and she said: "It's cute but it's creepy...I like but I'm afraid to leave it in my room when I sleep. It might kill me!" XD It was so funny...She said it looked like a baby vampire.

Might have to get a Soso for her or a Tyni.

    6. My BF said this about my Lian the other day because I haven't got her her proper wig yet. She's been wearing a beanie cap I knitted for an off topic doll, so she doesn't look so... unfinished.

    7. Whenever I whine about being bored to one of my friends he usually says something like: "Go ask the dolls if they need anything!"
And, as we all know here, dolls can be quite demanding. So that is pretty good advice. A few times I actually went into my sewing room (where I also keep the dolls) and ask one of the dolls to point something out that it likes from my stash of fabrics and tell me what chlothes it wants.

    8. LOL these are too funny....I have to admit, when I was reading about all the lingo with the dolls or my MIL would say she bought new hands, replaced the head, needs a new face up, I was deeply confused and concerned! (jk) But now when I mentioned things like this to my hubs, he gives me a very strange look....then looks confused...shakes his head and doesn't even bother trying to fully comprehend it!! lol

    9. When my BBB Apollo showed up, the first thing my mom said when she saw him was, "His thing is small, you should send him back and ask for a bigger one."

      No, Mom....just...no XD

    10. My little brother once said "Why are you still playing with dolls? I mean you're this OLD!"
man you don't know what you did ;)

    11. This is totally hilarious. I will laugh about the voodoo comment forever. Thanks for sharing!!!

    12. I have a few 1/4 Angel of Dream BJD's, 1 female, 2 old body males, and 2 new body males.
(I also have two floating heads and a girl body... kind of creeps non-bjd people out to have "spare parts" around)

      1. My Grandma says "They all look like girls to me".

      2. I took Melfina and Gene to the American Girl doll store in Houston & non-bjd people had things to say:
"Check out those BOOBS!", "That's not an American Girl doll!", "How much are those?" etc.

      2. My brother in law and his girlfriend were surprised how... "Detailed" my dolls are.
(They were helping me sew clothes, naked dolly's happen)

      4. My husband, "How many dolls do you have, and WHY do you want more?!"

      5. When my doll Harry arrived on a female body, and I had to wait for the male body to be mailed home:
Me, on the phone: "Harry's body is in the mail!" (I was excited he wouldn't be a girl anymore!)
My twin sister, "You have a harry body in the mail... what?!"

      6. When Harry's body arrived, I had Melfina in my arms and went to meet my mail carrier in the driveway:
My mail carrier "Is this the body you were waiting for?"
      Me "Yes, thank you!"
Mail carrier "So, how many do you have now?"
Me, handing Melfina to the mail carrier, so I can sign for Harry's body "This was my first one, she's Melfina. I have two boys inside, but one has a girl body, and he's been waiting for his body to arrive!"
Mail carrier, looking Melfina over, "She's cute"

      My favorite story:
My young son was with me on my first photo shoot. (Out in the yard)
I was in a hurry, grabbed my dolls, their wigs, & clothes and dressed them outside in the shade, with my son in his stroller, next to me.
      He asked, "Bath?"
He was asking if they had a bath (Why else would they be naked, right?)
I said something like "Yeah, sure, they had a bath, now they need to get dressed"
      He asked "Together?"
      I had a boy and a girl...
I said "Uh... yeah.... yes they did... OK almost dressed!"
Then when I was getting the wigs he asked, "Hats?"
I said, "No, not hats... hair. They can take their hair off and get new haircuts"
He really, really liked the idea.

My son is getting older, and sees my dolls more.
He's held one a couple of times, on the carpet, next to me.
In fact, we did a little photo shoot today, and he played with some of the props.
It's just a part of our everyday life, and part of what Mama likes to do.

My husband supports me, helps with my projects, and gives me ideas; but he gives me a hard time about it.
In fact, I wouldn't have jumped into this hobby without his support/if it weren't for him.
He helped me pick out the right sculpts, in the right size, and helped me pick my first BJD.

    13. First time I went to a doll meet, at a non-bjd doll convention, a lady there called me closer and asked in a creepy whisper "Does he have a d-ck?" It took me off guard but I was like "um, yes, he's anatomically correct." >_>;

I have had various family members and a couple friends comment that they are creepy. But I saw an interesting discussion here about this regarding "normal" looking dolls creeping people out more. My dolls are very stylish but they are otherwise quite "normal" and very realistic looking with exception to my yosd which looks more "doll" like but anywho...

Recently when I got my 68cm Loongsoul boy body in the mail, I was being very careful and a bit secretive when opening his box. My family was home and I knew the doll was coming with some other magnetic "parts" and my didn't want my family to get the wrong idea. So I kept my door shut and blamed it on not wanting the cat to jump in the box or otherwise get in the way. I quickly hid away the extra "parts" but at one point my brother came in and saw him without any part attached so only a magnet was visible. And he commented jokingly "I like the magnetic weener" or something to that extent. Later my dad made a crude comment asking, again jokingly, "Is that like one of those blow up dolls" to which my mom quickly scolded him for his crudeness. I told him he was disgusting and later he apologized lol.

I wish I had more friends into the hobby. I do know some people but not anyone that I see or talk to daily. I've had some really negative comments from a couple extended family members thrown at me regarding "playing with dolls" instead of doing things they think I should be doing instead. But I don't really take it too personally. I think they are jealous because I've gone to college, graduated, I'm a full-time teacher, and because I still live at home, I can afford to travel abroad and spend money on my hobbies. I'm a very productive person and if they knew me better, they wouldn't criticize me so much. Picking on my doll hobby is an easy target and in my opinion they're just sad people if that's all they can criticize me for. Family should be happy for you and I'm very thankful that despite some one ignorant comment from my Dad, my immediate family is very supportive of me. I even got my brother to go with me to a doll meet. He'll probably NEVER go to another one but I appreciate that he came to one for me. :)

    14. There are a few of my friends who calls my BJD a Barbie lol
