When I showed my friend a picture of my doll he asked if he was my boyfriend
Also many people say that my dolls are scary even though I don't think that way of them at all

One of my coworkers said dolls look creepy. She is used to American dolls.

 

Well, this wasn't a parent or roommate, but one time, I was in newbury comics, taking a picture of my SD13 looking at the comics, right? and some guys walk past me, then they do a double take and go "I thought that was a real kid!"

 

I was telling to my friend recently, that every doll has a sertificate of authority and she said "Wow, I thought they were just dolls!"
Well...They are just dolls! I didn't realy get, what's the difference between "just a doll" and "a doll with a sertificate". Does that make them more serious to her?

 

My roommate is creeped out by dolls in general, and it doesn't help that we just watched an episode of Supernatural where evil dolls kill people--I think I will generally have to keep my doll away from her when I get it.

 

My parents and sister basically said the same thing: they think my BJD will kill me in my sleep "Your creepy ass doll is going to kill you in your sleep!". And my mum said: "An evil spirit will enter the doll and kill you in your sleep."

 

My mom, with about a half-yard of purple floral print fabric in her hand (she sews, too): "Do you think Aura would like this for a dress?" I just thought it was cool. She thinks they're beautiful, BTW.

 

Yes, my grandmother came over and said in her little Italian voice "Your dolls have such nice breasts!" I couldn't stopping laughing.

 

My mom always tries to joke about how weird I am and how creepy my dolls are. I know shes doing it all in fun but its so funny to see her laugh at a joke that fails so miserably.

 

A few days ago, one of my sisters came over and I let her hold Key, as she hadn't actually seen him before. She kept making comments about how super floppy he is. After a little while, I commented, "Wow, I wasn't expecting you to get so attached to him!"
Her response? "Well, he needs something to attach him."

 

A few people have seen me excitedly typing in package tracking numbers and have asked me what I'm waiting for. As soon as I say the word "doll" they flip out and start yelling "Annabelle!", like that creepy movie (I haven't seen it or really heard anything about it besides the fact that it's a horror movie and has something to do with a doll.) Then they usually say "Oh wow, that is so creepy, I'm never coming to your room!" Or at the very least, "Ugh, that's so creepy!"

Except one girl down the hall asked me about it, and I told her how they are all different and you get wigs and clothes and eyes for them, and she said they sounded super cool and she wants to see the doll when he arrives~. So yaaaaay, one girl on my dorm floor doesn't think it's creepy~. It's a start.

My roommate still whispers 'Annabelle' whenever I walk past her though, but then we don't really like each other in general anyways soooooo....

 

My husband when I got new stuff for my new doll.
"Oh, she has nice soft hair... creepy eyes though, but nice soft hair. Why can't I have hair as soft as hers?"
I was just staring at him for a moment before I burst out in laughter

 

I think the weirdest think came from one of my friends that saw a picture :
He : "Sooooo you've bought a sex doll"
Me : "No!"
He : "It looks like one"
me : "Noooo, it's too small for that and you can't do anything with it"
He : "You can make anything into that"
Me : "But I'm not going to do that"
He : "Still... For that money you could've bought an actual sex doll instead of those rip-offs"
Me : *sigh*

 

I'm pretty lucky, my family excepts my interests most of the time. Though sometimes they like to joke about certain aspects. In this instance however, it was a total accident. XD
Talking to my little bro about faceups.
Me: I wonder if I'd be any good at faceups? The realistic ones look really tricky.
Bro: Well, what do you expect? I mean you've got all the lines here. * puckers lips and points * So I'd say facelifts are pretty hard.
Me: * giggling * Um, don't you mean faceups?

We both started laughing. It might not seem that funny, but the irony is that this conversation took place while I was reading this thread for the first time!

 

When my mum saw how anatomically correct my guy doll was:

"WAAAAAH! MY EYES! Put that thing away!"

My mum can be childish like that.

 

This is happening to me too. They're like "Annabelleeeeeee...."

It just dawned to me I've replied to this thread before. D'oh!

 

A guy i was dating earlier this year would freak out every time he saw my doll and scream "It's gonna kill me! Look at it, he's looking at me!"

 

I can't wait for fun stories to add to this thread. So far my family is pretty chill about the whole thing, though my mom thinks all the boy dolls I've shown her look like girls.
