1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Weird things your parents/roommates have said...

Aug 9, 2010

1. That's hilarious!

I totally didn't tell anyone and sort of revealed it later, but then I didn't talk about "the kids" to non-doll people much anyway

2. My dad told me that my doll looks like Micheal Jackson =_= (It's a Dollzone Fei so of course not even the slightest resemblance)

3. When I tried to explain to my brother a few years ago the appeal of bjd's for me, I left out all the parts about creating characters and personalities and storylines...Just went with what I figured would be slightly more acceptable with them as Art objects. I told him how I liked to customize them, to paint their faces and bodies and that eventually when I have my own place I'd like to get framed shelves on my walls to display them. He asked "So they're like More art projects to you?" I said yes, I figured he could wrap his head around that... His response?

"Well why don't you just hack the feet off a goat and attatch them to Barbies. That's more like art".....granted my favoured dolls are Soom monthlies and they all have hooves but....honestly?

And this christmas he gave me a wooden toy goat with "here's a goat, feel free to remove hooves and attatch to dolls" on it.

4. When my mom saw that my first boy doll (Bobobie Apollo) came with no clothes, full detailed body blush, and had a was anatomically correct she took one look at him and handed me her credit card so I could buy him boxers , and then she wouldn't let me take him out of the box until they arrived:(.
When I got my second boy (soulkid Maillo) she kept calling him a girl, and then when she saw his wig (a long purple wig from BlueBlood).
Mom: So you got another gay doll (she thinks the faceup is girly)
Me: :Yes
Mom: At least this one came with clothes
Me: Actually I bought him something else *Pulls out the Nine9style shorts from a small envelope*
Mom:...His eyes are nice

5. Me:Their anatomically correct...

Me:Has a ding dong...
Mom:O.o...what,Why?NO,wait,let me see!

6. My mother is really something, when winter comes she always complains about my dolls being dressed with light clothes adding: "What if they are cold?" or "They make me feel cold... Put a sweater on them!" LOL

7. My parents and friends sort of tolerate how doll-crazy I am. From time to time my mom saves me little things she thinks might be useful for my dolls. The fact that she thinks about my dolls like that makes me happy. But hoo boy, I have no idea what my friends and family would say if they knew Noah--the only boy--was anatomically correct. XD My brother also said the typical: "They're gonna get you while you sleep."

8. mom: your dolls look like religious idols
me: o_O

9. well...
my sister has only referred to them as "those creatures with dead eyes" since I got my first doll a year ago and refuses to call them by any other name. She's not nearly as bad as her boyfriend though; he once saw me looking at a modding tutorial online and screamed at it, and I mean like a scream scream.
Other then that, for some reason when two of my guy friend found out my doll's are anatomically correct, their first reaction was something along the lines of "Prove it" but that seems like a pretty normal experience in this hobby.

10. When I first opened my Dollfie Dream Aoi, my mother noticed her boob size and told me "she's blessed."

11. Mom: Is that...A penis?

Me: *cringing* Y-yes...

Mom:...That is so..COOL! 8D

Me: Hey mom...Can I buy Haruka (my first doll) some underwear?

Mom: Honey I think that's a necessity. (The poor gal went without undies for almost a month. It was out of pity...)

12. ha ha I love this thread! My cousin has a boy and girl doll and she had taken them to school with her, her fashion teacher held her Ai like a baby the whole class and referred to her as my cuz daughter! ^_^ The really funny reaction was from my grandma though, I believe it was something along the line of "look he has family jewels!!" Then showing everyone in the family.

For me I brought my girl to my grandmas to show her the dress I made her. My dad picks her up and I'm thinking "no way! My dads interested in her!" he immediately looks up her skirt and comments on her lack of underwear "shes not wearing panties! She's a prostitute!" "Dad! Shes too classy to be a prostitute!" "Then shes a prevert! she has no underwear on!" Oy... it didnt fit under the dress without showing on the back.... lol!

13. I just bought my first "Big Bucks" doll (for me anyways, as a high school student without a job $658 is a LOT of money) recently, and though he's not my first (I have one other), he was the first my mom made fuss about XD;;; He's my first boy so my mom asked if he was coming with clothes, and I told her no, she said: "Oh no, you can't have that boy hanging around out in your room with his bits on display." i laughed a little but agreed because my dad would probably not approve (what she doesn't know though, is that once he arrives i'm going to make him wear my smaller girl's sock dress like a mini skirt until i get him pants XD)

what i find amusing though is that most of these stories are about guy doll's parts XD;;;

14. I recently got a Doll Chateau Alberta and my mom was like, "Why didn't you get her in brown? She is an animal she should be brown, and where is her tail? You should make her some kind of fur skirt and tail." XD
I am happy though, I was afraid she would hate her because she is not a typical doll, but she said she was cute! She is very open about which dolls she likes and dislikes, like my leekeworld ariana she always says she is ugly and weird looking. >_<
Now that she mentioned it, I do wish that alberta came in tan though.

15. When I was getting my first doll (a boy doll), my mom was talking to me about it and she said she was worried that I would stop liking the doll as much when I got a boyfriend. I definitely proved her wrong. I've had spurts of interacting more and less with them but having a boyfriend didn't really correlate with those times. Just when I'm busy or preoccupied with forwarding myself in school or career.

16. I brought my Luna Tamer Chimera to work (I work in electrical maintanence with all guys in a nuclear fuel factory. I am the only female.) They were COMPLETELY uninterested until I pulled her out of her pillow bag. She had on a long red wig, a black "leather" cat suit and a black silk robe. They all stopped talking and stared at her with their mouths open. One of them said "Dammmmn. That cat girl is sexy!" then got all apologetic like I would be pissed or something because everything here is so politically correct. I just laughed and they all got red in the face and ran off.

17. My mom wanted to see my doll, so when we went to the parents' for xmas I took her along. As I don't have a doll carrier yet I borrowed a wicker basket off my boyfriend ... so while we're packing the car he asks me "got your Moses?"

18. I got one from my friend's dad today: "Well, I'll say this about collecting dolls...it's better than collecting guns."

19. I remember this!! lol Admittedly I did the same thing too. :sweat
I'm so used to seeing those barbie 3d panties in doll molds. It does come as a bit of a shock at first, but in a way it's pretty awesome how life like they can be in some ways.

20. I was sitting in my family room floor surrounded by little 4 inch dolls being boxed for their new homes when my 20y/o son came into the room & stood staring at me strangely. I told him I had a new one on layaway so all these were leaving. He said over his shoulder as he walked away, “What happens when they all come together?”
