1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What are some of your favourite individual artist/small company dolls?

Jul 8, 2021

    1. Sleepy Sheepy dolls are simply gorgeous! :fangirl: Their Pishu sculpt is adorable, and I wish I could get my hands on one, but they sell out lightning fast!

    2. Huge fan of the Broken Maiden dolls.

    3. I usually prefer more mature looking dolls, but there's something magical about MaskcatDoll's girls.
Also recently discovered Eslynsdolls and fell in love.

    4. I thought I was over yosd size since 1/8 size has been dominating my collection but I have been seeing some really beautiful yosd I want from Harucasting.

    5. I got a Mayfair sweet second hand and the dolls from the artist are so cool. They are made to look like they have a super corsetted waist, and I think they look super cool and are really elegant.

    6. Replying so I can be in on this list! I'm learning that I love the artistry of smaller designers. Thanks so much for this thread!

    7. I'm getting a Black Box Mochi soon. (I mean, I've already bought it, just waiting for it to ship...)
What I love about the little guy is just how posable he can be and how life-like he is. There's even a .gif out there with him running and the movement is so fluid. I don't think I've seen that kind of movement in any "big name" companies.

    8. Big fan of Rosettadoll. :D

    9. I'm a fan of Eslyndoll, I really like popovy sisters dolls, and I'm also Pashogolik ( PashaPasha)

    10. I am a SUCKER for unique-looking, rare dollies. I find that a lot of artist made dolls have this look.
What is your favorite not-so-well-known company or artist maker?
I'm a big fan of Rumpeldoll, I own a Morfeo. I also own a SimplyDevine-- I'm a big fan of artist dolls. I'm looking to find more companies that make really fun dolls!

    11. Not sure how rare vs well know she is, but Faewoodsdolls is a favorite of mine as of late. Hand cast dolls and she does a lot of neat things with resin mixing and resin tattoos.

    12. Smaller, less known artist dolls are my favorite, most of my crew consists of them.
      In no particular order:

Seed Arts, Little Rebel, Meeksdoll, Dolly Smith (no longer have any dolls from them but theyre still a favorite maker), Solar Wind Dolls, K Doll, Rugged Realism, Bonelace--

There are just so many incredible, lesser known doll artisans out there, and I feel so honored and privileged to be able to have dolls from these makers in my collection!

    13. I’m a huge fan of Birdcube’s sculpts! I’m waiting on a head from them now, they have such neat and unique concepts!

    14. Hoblods is one of my favorites. They have facial features not common in BJD. Also Sweetdolls for their bodies! And Element Doll for cute child-like expressive heads!

    15. I'm an absolute sucker and diehard stan for LuuusiQ/Echo Town! I have two of her Photosynthetic girls and they are my favorite dolls I've ever owned! I also love Amadiz's big girls - I used to own a Yolande and she was the best poser I ever owned, and I still measure a doll's posability by putting them through the "Yolande Test". I also love Rainman's sculpts, I own a Su and she's my grail head.

    16. I've always been a big fan of BlueBlood Doll. They're defunct now, but the sculptor and faceup artist is Medusa, she also sold dolls by Jie Doll - another defunct and obscure one I loved! BBD and Jie Doll did some collabs too, where Medusa made the heads and Jie Doll made the bodies. They were called Gen X Dolls. The majority of these dolls were 1/3, though there were some 1/4 Jie Dolls. BlueBlood Doll Phoenix was Medusa's first head ever produced, was handcast and only 2-3 were ever sold. He's my #1 grail. I've managed to track down one of them, but he's been modded and not for sale. Considering he was made more than a decade ago, I feel like my chance of ever owning one is zero.

I also love Little Rebel, though I'm not sure if they'd be considered obscure or not. The sculptor/owner, Carmen, is rather well known as far as independent artists go, but her dolls have a very unique aesthetic that fill a niche more than appeal to the majority. Her newer sculpts are more realistic and more detailed than her old ones, but I love both! Most of the heads are 1/3 scale and heads only, though she recently released a full 1/4 doll, Angel, and has also had a couple other 1/4 heads and some tiny dolls.

Another is OfButterfliesNThings by Arwen. She mostly makes plus size girls. I own a Paulette and I adore her for actually being a plus size girl, not just thicker hourglass or extreme pear shape. She's 57cm, but her neck is 13cm, and her thighs are bigger than my ResinSoul Mi's waist. Loooooove her! Arwen also included patterns to sew for her, which I thought was really awesome, as she can't wear anything readily made. She can, however, wear regular SD girl shoes, so I was very thankful for that!

    17. Meeksdoll makes some fun sculpts and I have several Modoll celebrity heads. I have also owned some Little Rebel. I
Like that you posted this, I also enjoy what I Call “artist” dolls. I also have a Dreamland Miki.

    18. I looked this sculptor/sculpt up and I'm really seeing what you mean! Lots of 'curvy' dolls still have tiny little waists. A breath of fresh air!

I recently saw Amadiz because of a purple girl they were selling-- my heart would have bought her if my pocket was heavier! <3 They truly are an awesome company.

I'm enjoying looking up all of these companies even if I dont respond directly-- curiosity gets the better of me and I love finding new doll makers.

    19. I have quite a few from smaller companies, and I love them all! Daisy Dayes, Dream High Studio, Mushroom Peddler, Faewoods; among others.

    20. I've never heard of the first three!!
I can tell what your aesthetic is from these companies! I have a similar one. Lots of little forest creatures. x3 Good choices.
