1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

what are your favorite type/company of Eyes?

May 18, 2007

    1. I soon have to get my first Soom eyes but I'm sure I will love them. Ersa Flora eyes are absolutely stunning and Candy Kittens Emporium on etsy makes stunning eyes, too!

    2. I have acylics in all my dolls, since I am not looking for realism. I have all anime styled or fantasy dolls, so realism is right out. I don't really care about "depth", and anyway I don't see a huge amount of depth in a real person's eyes anyway. Or at least not as much as some glass eyes, which have so much depth the eyes look receded into the sockets to me. I'm not saying I'd never use glass. But they don't usually come in the super bright colors I'm attracted to. I like to be able to tell what color their eyes are from across the room (so, not looking for realism). I also hate paperweighted eyes and eyes with such high domes that they're pointy. I can never get them to look appropriately partly hidden by the eyelids. They always end up looking too "dolly stare" for me.

I got a pair of Eyeco soft glass eyes for one of my fantasy dolls. I think they're really pretty outside of her head, but in her head they lack the brightness of color I love. I ended up replacing them with a pair of Safrin acrylics, which I love the brightness of. :D

From pictures, I might like some urethane eyes, but I've never seen any in person to be sure, and I don't want to throw that much money at a maybe.

    3. Urethaaaaaaaaane. Hands down no contest period end of story. I am a complete sucker for Mystic eyes; they're so vibrant and lush and lovely and yum. Do love. Do so love. Also love Gumdrops for the same reason as Mystics. But just. Urethane. I thought glass was great until I got my first pair of Mystics, and then it was ALL over. Three of my boys have Mystics. One has Soom eyes, which are utterly perfect for him and I'll never change them, and one wears a nice pair of Ginarolo glass (I saw the exact Mystics I originally wanted on the MP but I decided to stick with the glass for now because they're darn purty and there's nothing wrong with them) and...Dave doesn't have eyes yet. XD But I'd love some Parrot Red Gumdrops for him, or maybe Red Stein Mystics. Yum yum yum. So pretty and shiny.

    4. I actually prefer acrylics. Safrin & Ersa Flora are two of my favorite companies, I've always been so pleased with the colors and quality.

Admittedly, I've never tried glass or urethane. Maybe someday, but for now, I'm perfectly happy with acrylics. :)

    5. I like glass. They look real, and I just like that.

    6. I love glass eyes, but I also love Safrindoll acrylics. I only have one pair of glass eyes I got free with a doll and they're great, but I prefer buying acrylics because they're cheaper and come in more colors and sizes. I have a pair of lilac eyes from Safrindoll and they're my favorite.

    7. If I was rich, all my dolls would have urethane eyes right now, and it is my goal to make sure they do get some someday, but I'm buying them slowly. I definitely prefer urethane to everything else I've tried.
But I don't mind using cheap glass eyes as temporary eyes. DD-Anne and Captured in Glass makes some pretty decent eyes considering the price.

    8. I love safrin doll eyes, i have them in almost all of my dolls.

    9. Urethane. Especially ED Milky eyes, the soft sparkly colors are just wonderful to look at in the light.

...At the same time there's this pair of round glass eyes that I absolutely adore. I put them into Connal, and even though the room was really dark they lit up with a glow like I've never seen before. I've had them for a few years now, but man, it was like I was seeing them for the first time. Unfortunately, I have no idea who they were made by. u_u

    10. I'm partial to Urethanes, myself... Mystic, EA and ED all make nice ones. When it comes to glass, it's hard to go far wrong with Silver (if you can get them-).

I'm also fond of a lot of Zoukeimura's colors, but I've gotten rather picky about those. I find that I prefer older Zouks to the more recent ones. The older eyes just seem to have more depth and detail than what they've been making lately.

    11. Dollflower eyes >_< but very hard to order
Love maco eyes too, price quality both great♥

    12. i like these urethane eyes im glad i came to this thread... but i find nice eyes everywhere i go looking for them. littlemonica has some really cute ones but i didnt feel like paying so much for them so i went got some pink and lavender eyes from mintoncard. they didn't look so hot when i first got them but in the sunlight they look great.but my doll isnt even here yet so we'll have to see if they still hold up or will i be buying more eyes.I too like glass over acrylic. some people are saying that acrylics look more real and i mean yeah kind of when you have a close up of someones eyes but in general you dont see every line and stitch in peoples iris's you only see color and how the light reflects in them

    13. My favourite eyes are probably Dollshe and Gumdrops. I love the amount of light gumdrops capture! They really shine even in the darkest eye wells. Dollshe don't catch light as well and are a lot more limited in colour selection, but the threading/texturing is my favourite and a little more detailed then Gumdrops! They are also more on demand. (:

    14. Some of my dolls have resin eyes made by Linny at Candykittensemporium on etsy. They are stunning and she custom makes them for you for a really reasonable price:)

    15. I don't have a favorite company, but my favorite eyes are glass. My favirite color is a pale hazel with a dark green outline. They look so pretty in the light.

    16. I love the glass eyes, because they look beautiful and have a big range of prices :)

    17. I like urethane eyes the best, but don't mind high quality glass eyes. Vings urethanes are probably my favorite right now. They're pretty and I am pro being able to get custom urethanes.

    18. I really like Safrindoll eyes because the colors are so vibrant even in dark photos but I also like glass eyes because they have positioning stems. (The ones I have are kinda hard to photograph but in the right light you can pick up subtle color which is nice.)

    19. High quality glass eyes are my favorite...but it really comes down to what is perfect for that particular doll. My most expensive doll happens to wear the least expensive acrylic eyes in my crew.:)

    20. I just got my start in the hobby, so I don't have a lot of experience with different types of eyes - kinda leads me to think I need to do more asking around at our doll-meets xD

My first BJD (MNF Seorin) came with a gorgeous pair of bright green eyes that his previous owner said were only $10, but she can't recall where she got them. I haven't been able to find anything like them. I know that they're glass, and my best guess is that they're a high-dome and 14mm. They've got subtle swirls in the iris that you can only see if you look really closely.

I've bought two pairs of 14mm glass eyes from the eBay store Pink Fantasy, one pair in grey and one in red. Haven't put the red ones in yet, but the grey ones look AWESOME in my Resinsoul Song.

I've seen a gorgeous pair of purple urethane eyes that I'd love to get for my Resinsoul Mei, buuuuut I cannot justify spending $45 on a pair of eyeballs...
