1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What do you bring to BJD meet-ups?

Feb 27, 2012

    1. I haven't been to a meet yet, so this is a helpful thread - thanks! Something I'm curious about — how do you guys best transport your dolls? Do you carry them in their original boxes, or... ?

    2. What, in the most basic sense, do you bring to your meet-ups? (Or would, if you haven't gone to any?) Doll(s), camera, money. Everything else depends on the meet itself, as we tend to like to do a variety of things. If it's outdoors, I try to bring one of the dolly quilts, if it's maintenance, I have several "Really Useful Boxes" brand boxes that are sorted and full of the various supplies (painting, modding, ect). If it's a field trip, I'll add in a bag that comfortably fits my dolls and that I can carry easily.
Also bring as good an attitude as you can. :3

How do you best transport your dolls?
If I'm bringing a carrier (usually only to the DC-area trips) I'll go ahead and pack them ahead of time. If not, the little ones ride in my (purposely bought for this) purse or the large ones end up buckled into the (adult) car seat. Most trips for my dolls are 30 minutes across town (and yet we have the same Zip code XD ) or 90 minutes to the next biggest town where everyone else is.

If you have a large number of dolls, how do you choose who to bring?
I don't have a ton, but the largest of the lot weighs six pounds. It depends on the meet, requests, and who hasn't been out in a while.

Do you go to meet-ups to meet people or to buy/sell? Both? Other reasons?
I know or have gotten to know most of the people who show up. Mostly we go to hang out and be ourselves. It's more social than formal.

Do you go alone or do you carpool with people nearby? The few of us out our way try to combine together. We'll ride together best we can, and commonly (due to Central Virginia's vastness) end up with a 3 hour round trip or more. On many of the "field trips" (I've in the past tend to host the more distanced ones) I've been the person to give many of those going a ride.

Do you stay at a hotel near the meet if it's rather far away and/or goes late? A lot of us are close enough friends to crash at one another's place if needed, but we try not to restrict anyone from feeling bad about leaving. A lot of us have other priorities to get back to before we can sleep or right after we wake up.
