1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What do you like to see?

Jan 5, 2020

    1. Unique, visually coherent character designs! I like it when everything about a doll's appearance- Eyes, hair, expression, faceup, clothing, accessories- comes together to give you an impression of who that doll is.

Also, purely quirky doll designs immediately interest me too. Any doll that does something with a sculpt that I haven't really seen before is immediately of interest to me.

Admittedly, backgrounds and setting don't matter so much to me. I guess I prefer simple backgrounds that enhance the doll itself.

    2. I very like photos with lots of doll props, unique face up. Scary dolls and gore face up is close to my heart, but I very like steam punk and biker type dolls too. Dioramas are fantastic. And posing can add nice touch to doll photos too.

    3. 1. Look of the doll. I like realistic sculpts, bodies and eyes. Eyes looking into a different direction make the doll look interesting on photos ^^ I like any haircolor and I prefer wigs made from synthetic fiber. I like any face-up as long as it's well-made and kinda human.
      2. Angle. Photos usually look better if not made directly from the front.
      3. Setting. A one-colored background looks good, a matching scene (e.g. diorama, outside) even better. There are many ways light can be used to look good. Only dim roomlight in the evening is not meant for photographing. Interacting with the background (e.g. leaning onto a wall) is great.
      4. Clothes. Detailed clothes look great but I don't think they're needed. Simple streetwear can look as cool als Rokkoko dresses.
      5. Use of camera in general. I love taking photos, so general things like focus, depth of field and composition are very important to me.

I think the story can also be charming. But I haven't experienced more story than what's written in doll profiles here on doa, so I can't tell for sure.
All in all, it's a synergy of the mentioned. If one part is not good, it doesn't make the photo bad automatically.

    4. Most of my dolls are cute little girls. That's what I look for in the dolls of others. I look at how they are dressed. I look at how their hair is done. I say to myself, "would I want that doll?" On at least two occasions, the answer was "yes" and I went out and purchased the doll for myself.

    5. I really like photos that look like fashion pictures, if that makes sense. Also photos where the doll's hands really go with the pose. I'm really drawn to Fairyland dolls because they have so many hand options available. Pictures with really nice eyes that look super focused are great too.

    6. 1. Photos that tell a story. Even if it's just something simple, like conveying the personality of the character.
      2. Just a beautiful doll in general. Extra points for a stunning outfit or wig I've never seen before.
      3. EYES! Simple portrait shots can draw me in if the eyes are gorgeous.
      4. Creative use of backdrops, dioramas, and miniature items. The longer I'm staring at a set piece going "where did that find that tiny thing?!" or "how did they make that!?" the better. I also love when people do outdoor shots that position their doll to look to scale with their environment.

    7. Most of my boys are mature looking and big, thus, I tend to look for similar owners to follow
      1. open to all styles, more attracted to strong characters
      2. uniqueness in styling
      3. photo skills
