What doll size do you consider most "fun" ?

Sep 29, 2013

    1. I prefer SDs overall, but MSds are more "fun" because they're easier to display and take to events. For my big dolls I strive to be as perfect as possible when dressing them, but I have a more relaxed attitude toward the MSDs, and I can often find things from play doll lines that will fit them or work as props. Maybe not coincidentally, all my MSDs are happy, smiling 12 to 15 year old characters. I love tinies too, but once again I run into endless fretting about appropriate shoes, wigs, etc.

    2. Different sizes for different types of fun.

Little dolls (Realpuki, Lati White, PukiPuki and Banjis size) work great i dolls houses and fit the furniture and props well. plus can be carried around in a glasses-case.

Yo/LittleFee/Petites are also easy to pack/transport, and are about the smallest size I care to make clothes for.

Little Minis (Little Junior Ai/Minoruworld junior/ChibiUnoa size) are a lovely in0-between size and mak good younger sibs for slim/mature minis.

Slim/Mature minis are easy to find props and furnishings for.

Regular Minis make good younger sibs for SD sized kids (most of my SD size gang are children, however)

SD size are my favouorite size to make clothes for - small enough to no require huge amounts of fabric, bu big enough to be able to include a nice amount of detail without getting out a magnifier. Although it can be frustrating finding furnishings and accessories the right scale for children of this size, the majority of them are scaled for adults of this size.

My Lusion girl... possibly the least fun. I adore having a doll of this size and she's easy to sew for but she's heavy and so difficult to transport to meets and conventions etc. so she gets neglected in that regard.

    3. I only have an MSD currently, and I think she's a lot of fun. Someday, though, I'd like to get a chance to play with or even own a YoSD or two. They look like they'd be the most fun to me, since they're so cute and easy to carry. :)

    4. Since i started collecting two years ago i have bought dolls from the tiny size, through YOSD, Slim MSD, MSD, large MSD and now SD and think that large MSD is probably my favourite size and the one that i have most fun with. The very small ones whilst easy to display are more fiddly to play with, and pose for me. I don't take my BJD out of the house (bar garden), so portability is not an issue. I have a tiny on order as a handbag pal but think if i could only have one doll to enjoy and interact with, it would be a large MSD/small SD.

    5. That is such a difficult question...

I currently own a YOSD, an SD and have a tiny (15cm) on the way. To be honest I'm also very curious about the MSD size but I don't think I'll be adding one of those to my collection anytime soon.

I honestly couldn't say which of the sizes I like the most at the moment. My YOSD is awesome because she's so darn cute in her own way. I've been thinking of redoing her or turning her into a boy though. For some reason the bonding is going slow.

My SD is the newest and I was pretty darn impressed by her size. I find my YOSD more detailed and precious for some reason though, perhaps because she's smaller? I'm getting used to owning a more 'adult' BJD but bonding is on hold due to monetary issues.

And as a surprise gift for my birthday I have a tiny (15cm) on the way home. I'm not sure what to think about her size, she's even smaller than my YOSD. I was really thinking about getting one though so I guess I'll be able to tell more when she arrives.

    6. I think SD sizes are cool for collecting, which is what I'm into. I can turn them into large, detailed versions of my characters and that is pretty cool for me.

    7. SD size all the way. :sumomo:

    8. All of my dolls are fun, but I think I love the Yo-SD size the most. I have more of them than any other size at the moment. I find them easier to pose and more fun to carry around than my bigger dolls.

    9. I definitely love the Yo-SD size range but I'm currently waiting for my first MSD so we'll see what I think then!

    10. I think all of my dolls are pretty fun, and I have a YoSD, MSD, and 2 SDs. That said, I AM DYING TO GET A TINY DELF TO TAKE WITH ME EVERYWHERE. They're so adorable and so tiny and so portable!

    11. SD. They just somehow feel more...dynamic to me. Tinies pose easily and quickly--as do MSDs--and both are capable of wonderful expression, but for some reason neither feel as "alive" to me as SDs. They somehow have movement to them even when they're sitting still...? It's pretty hard to put into words. I guess the simplest way to say it is that they have more presence. Nothing's quite as striking.

    12. Definitely tinies!
I love my SD size with all my heart but they're just too hard to take out to public places.
Tinies are easier because you can hide them before anyone realizes what the heck you're doing. And they don't weigh anything, can be easily tucked in a handbag. I love taking my YOSD sizes out to parks and places.

    13. I hadn't thought about my dolls in terms of how "fun" they are, because I don't really play with them. I do have the most enjoyment with my YOSDs because I like to sit them next to me on my desk and they can keep me company while I'm on the computer or sewing. But as far as my favorite size and the doll I love the most, it's my SID Genesis (5SD Tumnus).

    14. I can't really see myself having anything larger than an MDS.

    15. I think SD :) easy to find clothes for em. But YoSDs are cuties >_<

    16. SD is my favorite size. They have more presence than MSD. And I'm not fond of tiny 'cause the most of them are sweety creatures and I do not like cute things very much.

    17. Hard to decide... I don't think I have favorite size. they all have cons and pros so ... I enjoy big, small medium... all kinds of.

    18. I think MSD are the most fun.
I have a couple of SD, and I love them too, but they just mostly stay in their boxes or just sit there where i can look at them. MSD are easier to handle for me, and I end up having more fun with them :)

    19. tiny sizes! ...they are portable! I'm usually keeping one in my bag! :)
..but I'm thinking on buying a yosd size.. not sure how portable they are though..

    20. I'm a sucker for 1/4 scale. I love all of my dolls, but my MSD-sized BJDs are the most fun for me. :thumbup
