What doll size do you consider most "fun" ?

Sep 29, 2013

    1. I'm just a 60cm kind of person, I guess! I have minis and am really fond of them as individuals; I have 70cms and am really fond of them as individuals, too. But when I reach for a doll just for the fun of handling one, or when I want to noodle around with some kind of clothing project, my default is always the ~60cm guys and gals. I like their weight, their balance, their proportions . . . and, as anna g said, they're just right for somebody with wonky eyesight!

    2. MSD! But I'm thinking of moving into the realm of the SD O.o

    3. As a newbie the bigger dolls seem a bit intimidating so the tinies work best for me...at least for the time being :)

    4. Well each one is different. I have one of each an SD,MSD and YOSD. I love MSD more, but that's maybe because my SD is an Chalco, who is hoof are sooo heavy.

    5. I have 1/3 dolls, but smaller sizes are fun and you can buy a lot more props for them! So I'm saving up money for a 27cm doll. ^^

    6. For me personally the most fun size is MSD, anything smaller is too easy to slip out of my hands and anything bigger is just too clumsy lol.

    7. only owning two "sizes" as of so far, i really enjoy the 26cm range as its interesting to see all of the neat items you can locate for them.

    8. I used to love SD sized dolls but recently I've been finding myself playing with my MSDs more. I've been also considering getting a Pukifee just because I like the idea of putting it in my purse so I can take it wherever I go. :3

    9. I think different sizes generally serve different purposes. For a simple 'grab and take pictures' MSDs are probably the most easily transported.

    10. I Love MSD and SD's. SD's are fun because they're like small people. And they can sometimes use human things (Coffee mugs, baby socks, and such). And if your into making clothes, they're the best because they aren't too small so that its difficult, but not too big that they cost you a ton in fabric. I like MSD's too because they are portable, and fun to take pictures of.

    11. I love all the sizes. I have a bunch of handmade off topics from 1/16 all the way to 2/3 and i love taking pictures of the huge ones with the tiny! I also love tiny for carrying around and using up all my scrap material but like the freedom and weight of the larger. I must say though that my 2/3 doll is so huge and hard to do anything with and is a pain every time i have to do anything with. She's the size of a child and it's just a little too much!

    12. I have a variety of sizes, from 6cm to 60cm! XD But right now, I'd have to say the doll I have the most fun with is my Dollfie Dream/Obitsu47 hybrid!
She's big enough to cuddle, small enough to squish in a back pack, super-duper light (which means I can carry her around all day and not get sore arms), poses like an absolute dream:aheartbea, and she can use most of my 1/4 and 1/3 scale props and clothes (cause she's an odd little in-between size).
And because she was less expensive than many of my other dolls, I'm not super worried about stains or other mishaps, so I really feel like I can just pick her up and have fun with her! :whee:

    13. For me, SD is the size I prefer best.

I have two MNFs and two 70cms, but the MNFs to me seem more like "toys." It gets old when people think they're barbies. The 70cms OTOH are so big and heavy to carry around for a long time. But I usually will grab one of my two (for now) SDs and go some grocery shop or some other place.

One time I took Chiyoko, my MNF scarred Shiwoo out with me and someone came up to me and was like, "Oh your lolita barbie is so... :o ." I laughed so hard when they walked away! How could they mistake a doll with blue hair to be a barbie? :|

    14. Honestly it depends on the company's bodies. I have some SD's that I love posing, and other's that I just prefer to keep on a shelf. But I do have to admit... those 26cm are very fun. (I'm new to them, and I love playing with them!)

    15. This is a very hard one to choose as different sizes and shapes have different benefits that are a lot of fun. I know for me I've finally decided dolls over 62cm are just a little too large for me....anything on or below that is just perfect as an arm-full or hand-full. Right on about 60cm makes the perfect size / weight for an armful.
I think if I really had to choose then tinies below 15cm, especially closer to 9-10cm, can be a LOT of fun as there are so many wonderful pre-existing dollhouse props and miniatures just made perfectly for this size group. Therefore the possibilities for these tinier tinies are practically endless. However, I am very partial to the 20-45 size group myself with most of my dolls fitting into this size group.
Interactions between dolls of different sizes can be a lot of fun too, making it very hard to choose one size over another. For example, here's my 40cm Dearmine Dear Lover girl holding one of my tiniest dolls, a tiny 9cm NatalliWhite bunny. One is fun to dress and play with as far as options for wigs, eyes and clothes go and the other is fun for the way she can play around with and fit perfectly with my collection of miniatures and both are fun in the way they can interact with each other :kitty1 I couldn't choose one as more fun than the other if I tried.

    16. I only have a YoSD and an SD right now, and the tiny is always my first pick (SD is too big for me I think...). I've always loved the MSD size, and I tend to think they would be the most fun. They aren't too small but they aren't too big. I do love my YSD though, I think she's adorable and so fun and easy to tote around.

    17. YOSD! My Littlefee Chloe poses in every way I want :)

    18. My favourite size is 1/3 but 1/4 are the most fun for me as I can transport them very easily. I recently went on a road trip to Eurpoe and I look Jeff with me, it was so great having him as company. :)

    19. I only just got my first doll, and it's a mature mini (29cm). So I can't tell you about experience with the hobby. (But since she is a fairy I think her size fits!) My plans for first bjd was actually a 70cm one xD but that was years ago and now it seems intimidating...
I don't plan on having that size anymore, but I still want to have a couple of 65cm because of the sculpts and other large sizes cause there is more room for detail, modding, sewing etc. However I keep wondering if I'd be okay with that size. It seems kinda like.. a small person.. I'm not sure how I'll feel when I have one. Space is an issue for me though, I don't have a lot.
I tend to take about 20 photos of the same pose in different angles, I'm having so much fun finding all of my doll's "faces".
Don't think I'll be the type of person that takes their doll out on strolls though...

    20. I think smaller sizes are definitely more 'fun' in the sense you're talking about. I personally enjoy setting up photoshots with larger dolls just as much as mucking around with smaller dolls, but if you really only enjoy spontaneous play, a smaller size would suit you better.
