1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What dolls have you bought as a direct result of DoA??

Aug 31, 2008

    1. Well, I guess I could say I bought my Sprite as a result of DoA, since I did look at the Sprites here before diving in headfirst to get it. :P Also my So Ui, he was love at first sight, I don't think I would've bought him if I hadn't seen an adorable one here that just captured my heart. :D

    2. All save one! I enjoy buying special dolls from the Marketplace; they may be "second-hand" but they are all very unique and unlike any of their sculpt. Neneko and Anemone were bought on the Marketplace as I adored their one of a kind face-ups. Quinton and the singing Piki I received in a trade for a body I bought through user Mrs. Collins but decided was way too chunky for the doll.

Then there are a few odd-balls. Bliss' body was bought through the MP, but her head was a trade via this site for a doll bought off the Junky Spot. She's half DoA-influenced. XD Theta and Sora were bought through a GO~

    3. Because of DOA I found out about Dollstown Dolls. Would never have known about them staying at most of my forums, except maybe one. But the databases as well as the news have lead to me not only deciding which ones to get for my group, but also what bodies other then DT can work if I am more open to colors other then NS.

    4. I wasn't sure at first, because I knew nothing about the hobby. But I've learned so much!

:> The doll I'm getting from someone here was coincidentally one that I had seriously considered getting at first.

    5. i generally prefer to be my doll's first time owner .. however, i finally got a volks yosd through DoA .. though that doesn't necessarily qualify as BECAUSE of. X3

    6. lots and lots of information that i need .... like resin match, diff. companies, diff. sizes of eyes, wigs and clothes., how to restring, how to put make-up etc.
so when i have a dolly i know how to take care of it..:D
      DoA is very helpful indeed...:)

    7. If it wasn't for being a member here....well my Puki...... I really would not go for something so tiny. To be honest tiny bjds are not really my style but I had to get the puki.....and I love her and want more pukis but one is enough and my other dolls still get all their love still

    8. Amen to that! Once I decided to downsize to dolls smaller than SD, I spent a couple of months just scouring DoA and the marketplace for the perfect sculpts to portray my special characters. Starting over from scratch gave me the advantage of knowing that the marketplace here is the best place for me to go to "first"! I love adopting the little orphans of the marketplace. They always seem to have a little something "extra" about them that I wind up keeping and incorporating into my character. I always do my own face-ups, but try to choose dolls where I can at least keep something...an ear mod, well done eyebrows, eyes they come with...something. Working around that stretches my artistic ability and adds extra dimention to an already well developed character. So yeah, all my dolls have been a direct result of DoA...absolutely!:)

    9. My little Leotie, a Bobobie March, was bought because I saw a cute box opening of her on this site and Kisa, my Roxydoll Lucy, was bought because I heard about the sale here. :3 I also bought my Orientdoll So Dong Sprinkle on this site through the marketplace and I'm waiting for a Puki Mary I bought on the marketplace. My Sapphira was bought because of the thread here. @___@;;
So that's all my dolls except three. XD

    10. My Yo-Sd Kun, cause I would have never known how to even go ABOUT getting a Yo-sd. Not to mention that I bought her off of the marketplace ;)

I lurve my lil baby dolly she's so adorable :aheartbea

    11. Most of my dolls purchases have been at least influenced by DOA, but I wouldn't have even known about Tinybear's Moona and Bracken, so I wouldn't have my Helena and Pony if not for DOA.

    12. It would have to be the Luts Lishe I just bought a few days ago.
A year ago I would have never even considered getting her but after spending time on this forum and looking at all the lovely photos I just fell in love.

I can also pretty much say that my next doll will be bought as well because of seeing pics on here.

    13. nothing...yet. for me, it's more like i have my eyes set on a doll, then i come here tolook at owners' pictures. it's weird coz sometimes, a doll may look pretty in factory pics but not as stunning (in my eyes anyway) in ordinary photos. besides, i want to see the face sculpt from other different angles, and most of the factory pics dun offer that.

so for me, i have not been tempted to buy any here. but looking at the pics either help me make up my mind of put me off.

    14. I don't know that I can say all of them, but definitely my two IOS heads.
I first saw IOS pictures in the gallery and I lovedd themmm

    15. There are a lot of dolls that I wouldn't have come to love had it not been for DoA. I bought my Bory because I looked at owner pics. I want to get a Kuuta and a Chiwoo because of this forum as well.

    16. Tsuyoshi Maki. His promotional pictures from Volks did not do *anything* for me... (I think it was the suit. All of my boys have what you'd call a distinctly 'casual' style...) As soon as I saw Maki floating around DoA, though, and saw owners pictures and different outfits, I promply replaced my Sch. C boy with him.
... And now he's pretty much the official house favorite. :sweat :aheartbea

    17. My first and only BJD so far (which is still on layaway though) was a direct result of the Marketplace. She is a MW Junior Minoru(but as a girl) and I fell in love with her. Not the mold or the doll in general, but with that one doll. It was really strange because I never even looked at the MW Juniors, but this one just overwhelmed me and a little voice inside my head would not be quiet until I bought her. I can't wait until she gets here:aheartbea

    18. Ditto-ing everyone else: ALL my dolls have been bought because of seeing 'em here. My first two dolls, Bobobie Sprites, looked really pretty goofy on the BBB website. It wasn't till I saw some owner photos here that I realised how cute the face sculpt was.

My third doll (which hasn't arrived yet) is a Ninodoll head, which was advertised here, and I will be ordering a DIM body, again because of an advert I read on the News forum here.

    19. I'd say almost all of mine? At least 2 were purchased on DoA's marketplace.

I believe I had more influence to purchase my lati yellows from Flickr groups and photos.

    20. My first two dolls. My Bobobie Tony and my SoulKid Harang. I never would have met them if it hadn't been for this board. ^_________^ Thank you DoA!!
