1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What dolls have you bought as a direct result of DoA??

Aug 31, 2008

    1. Hrrrrm, my first three I ended up with before I really got active and looking around this site. DoA is definitely responsible for my DOC and MNF Elf Shiwoo though; I saw a banner with Kirill and knew he'd be perfect for my Hotaru. Sarin I bought on DoA, so definitely direct haha. I also got a puki because of users pics, though it didn't work out for me and I sold him. I still enjoy seeing pics of them though.
DoA will probably be responsible for my SD boy when I finally decide on a sculpt and get not poor XD haha.

    2. My Yder and my f-10 are results of DoA. I liked Yder okay on Luts' site (even with the old, horrible pictures of him), but when I saw someone's WS Yder here when they were first released I saw that the mold had so much more potential and fell in love.

I didn't even know the f-10 sculpt existed until I found one for sale in the marketplace. I fell in love with his face and ended up bringing him home. xD'

    3. I got my first one, a DOD Ducan before I was on DOA.
But my second one, a Shiwoo...I'd never have thought to like that mold that much with the company pics only...I thought he was pretty on the Luts site but he never spoke to me...then I saw some owner pics and reconsidered, because suddenly he had developed this whole new character in my head, so I had to get him.

    4. Definitely Elfdoll Wu and Migidoll Miho, thanks DoA ^^

    5. I would say that my waiting list and wish list has definitely been influenced by DoA because I wouldn't have known about several of these companies without it. Also, DoA gave me a chance to see what the dolls look like in non-stock photos and see reviews by owners.

    6. I have to thank DoA 110% for Conrad, my K-Doll Kill_U 1st.

I did not fall in love with Kill_U 1st because of DoA; rather, it was thanks to a korean faceup artist's blog called Gate51 that featured a beautiful Kill_U 1st. I was so, so in love with her doll "Subaru" but I was sure that I would never get to own this sculpt because it was so rare. I found out that it was only released in Korea and there were only 10 or something in existence. o_o I decided to just admire him from afar.

Last year, I took a break from DoA and the bjd hobby for a few months because I was busy with other hobbies. And besides, at that time I had just received my first doll and so no longer felt urgency to go online to satisfy my bjd cravings.

Then one day, I checked DoA at random and found out K-Doll was rereleasing Kill_U 1st. In order to understand exactly how lucky this was... you see, I came to DoA and found this out on the second or third day of the ten-day order period.

Had I not come to DoA that week... I would be kicking myself hard enough to bleed right now. xD

This story makes Conrad all the more special to me. :aheartbea

    7. Johnny Depp minimee is a direct result of being on DoA.
And once he gets his faceup done, he'll be my second complete doll.

    8. There are two dolls I bought here, and as they aren't available from companies directly, I obviously wouldn't get them any other way.
Also I made a final decision to buy certain doll after home photos here. ))

    9. I've just purchased a Narae 2nd hand, and she was most definitely a result of the beautiful owner pics I've seen here. I've seen some lovely images in the Gallery and after that I just had to have one of my own.

And there have become other sculpts that I really came to like after seeing them on here, even though I have no plans to buy them currently.

    10. well for me my Haplo is an extreem case of DoA inspired doll,

I first saw Zagzagels (sorry wrong spelling probably) banner of het Dollshe Saint angel, fell totally in love and told myself "get over it!"

but I kept going back to the banner and eventually pm'd her to ask what kind off doll it was, turned out to be a Dollshe Saint.... I bought him a few months later :)

    11. The one doll that DoA pushed me over the edge to buy is a Elf Elly Peach (lots of Banjis on the forum, I liked the peach face better). I was interested in a tiny BJD, but there are so many to choose from. So I did a lot of homework here on DoA, and found a couple threads:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202782

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43552

Because of other member’s pics, I instantly fell in love with them. :aheartbea I ordered my Peach from Dollmore just recently, I can’t wait for her to get here.

    12. Actually 3 of my dolls were bought because of owner pictures on DoA.
      First was my Dollzone Mo.
Then I bought my Migidoll Ryu because of DoA and I just purchased a Minifee Miyu because all the owner pictures of her won me over.
I couldn't choose between the Ryeon and the Miyu so I looked at owner pictures and decided on the Miyu.

    13. Soom Corvi never would have been -considered-, let alone bought, without the owner pictures of him here. He truly has the most amazingly beautiful face, but it doesn't show very well in Soom's pictures. (His jaw seems much stronger, and the nose less beaky in person -- and in the owner pics.)

I never would have even known about DZ Isabel without DoA, let alone considered buying her. She would have been long gone before I even knew of her existence, and I really love that gal -- she has a charmingly haughty attitude about her. She's adorably imperious (as the smallest on the shelf).

Akando probably wouldn't have made it home. I was actually a little iffy about him even until he showed up on the doorstep, because financially, it was a slightly iffy period. Horrible as it may sound, I knew that if he showed up and I didn't love him as much as I expected to, he'd find a good home quickly for what I'd paid if things really hit the skids moneywise. That was a big factor with me since I'd never bought a doll from any company but Soom at the time.

Truth be told, even the Soom collection would likely be half or less what it is without DoA. I -never- would have had the nerve to buy a blank doll without the tutorials and tips listed here.

    14. My pukis would not be here if it was not for DoA's picture boards and meet up opportunities had not sloooowly converted me. I probably would not have my MNF Marcia, or my Resinsoul dolls An and Song without this place. I would have also dismissed Soom as a company that was just too plain expensive. Also, I would not dare have tried hybrid dolls, several of the dolls I have I really dispise the body, so it is great that I know I can mix and match.

    15. Every doll I own is a result of DoA in some way. My first doll was purchased second hand from a seller here on DoA. My second doll, had it not been for researching the seller here on DoA and finding that she was indeed reputable, would have likely not been purchased from Ebay. And finally, my third and fourth dolls would never have been purchased had it not been for all of the owner photos on the forums showing their beautiful sculpts.

In fact... I really don't know what I'd do without DoA! :D

    16. I recently commissioned PurgatoriX into placing an order for my FCS F-16. I wasn't really fond of most of the Volks head molds until I found the F-16 on DOA. After seeing Talya Firedancer & Kuwabara no Miko's lucien, I fell in love with the mold and had to have him. I also bought my U-noa Lusis after seeing her all over DOA because she was just so cute.

    17. So far, the Felix Brownies Zeppelin and Aurora, and Siamese Ringo. I have seen Puki's elsewhere as well as Pet Ari's.

I did purchase my Mac during the recent Pipos ordering event and that was because of the announcement here in the news section.

    18. Both of mine, and any future purchases (I have several in the works). I love DOA. It's the only forum I take part in. It's a wonderful resource for information (this is a complex hobby!).:? And getting to see the new sculpts, not to mention all the variations of the dolls... it absolutely opens one's eyes to the possibilities. Take PongPong. I hated the pics on the site, because I can't stand clowns.:ablah: Then I saw owner pics on the forum, and fell in love. :loveNow I won't be happy until Pongpong bounces his way here...:sweat

No wonder the doll companies stay connected with DOA. I would, too, if I were them.

    19. I fell in love with the VOlks Old F-29 head new number is F-17 when I saw a member who name escapes me Sorry boy named Jenova. He was a white skin and as much as I love with skin when a F-29 came up for sale with modded dreaming eyes I was like sold.

    20. I bought my Shiwoo after knowing about DoA
I was so dumbfounded after discovering DoA after trying so hard to get any kind of information about my Too and Bee-A off the DOD message board lol.
