1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What dolls have you bought as a direct result of DoA??

Aug 31, 2008

    1. None so far, but I just joined! Give me time!! lol

    2. KALIX!!! The gray skin with goth faceup and glitter...I LOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEE! Unfortunatly I found him to late and can't purchase him, excpet the ones I find in the marketplace that are either blank or custom. I guess the only other was a Nanuri '07 vamp head. I saw the faceup on him and I just needed him, put him on hold and that Friday bought him(he was in the marketplace so that was no biggie)

    3. Harin, for sure. From the website, all I could see was "Asian" when I looked at her, but I went through the database and saw that she was quite versatile. :3 So now I'm a proud owner of a Dreaming Harin, many thanks to Abel and ShaylaMyst for their help in that!

    4. Ditto! Same here!

But I've discovered the work of a fellow DoA'er and I would like her to take care of my girls. ^_^

    5. I would DEFINATELY say that I would have never taken an interest in Volks, had I not seen owner pictures here on DoA.

    6. If I didnt have DOA I wouldnt have found all the numerous BJD companies. I have my Delphine because of the News section. I found my AiL Alice because of owner pictures. My love of Volks Liz grew and I purchased her from the fabulous Jay here on the market place. Now I am on the search for Luna. I love being able to see owner pictures, not all dolls look the same in RL as they do on the website. It has saved me from buying dolls I would have ended up selling. Oh, I forgot one my soon to be Lestat from a Minimee Go :)

    7. I would have to say the most direct would have been my Angell-Studio Gus in WS. I had put up a thread asking for suggestions as I was looking for a doll to fit my little boy Prince and was having difficulties locating his sculpt. I had looked at Gus before but was never very attracted to him with his pinky or yellow resin. Someone suggested I give him a second glance however, and when I saw him in white resin wearing THE most perfect outfit for Prince I was absolutely smitten! Of course since then my Gus has had the hell modded out of his face, but I still think he is absolutely adorable and would never considered him otherwise!

On a less obvious note, my DoD Ivan was bought directly because of DoA as I bought him second hand and not from the website. However, I knew no matter what I HAD to have an Ivan so even if I hadn't found one on DoA I still would have eventually bit the bullet and ordered him new. And lastly, I somewhat consider my Little Monica Kliff a result from DoA since the company is still somewhat new on and not on alot of major doll lists that I check out, the only reason I found out about it was threw the announcement threads here. But once again, the character my Kliff is modeled after, I knew that character would have most definately made it home to me, so whether in Kliff form or not (thank goodness he is though! It's perfect!), it's not as though I now have an extra, unplanned doll.

    8. I just made payment on a Tender Too and Tender Bee A, I never liked these dolls on DOD, thought they looked horribly smug, and hated the DOD body but the newer bodies have come a long way and looking at a few on here I slowly fell in love. I am thrilled to bring them home.

On top of that I impulse bought a Shiwoo Elf MNF boy, he ended up being my birthday present from my partner, but I had never planned on him, the second I saw an untouched boy and the excellent price I HAD to have him though, and he is now one of my favourites and has me sold on minis (he was my first...10 dolls came before him)

    9. I haven't gotten her yet, because they are not taking orders, but I love the Supia dreaming Roda. I'm not sure if I would have seen her. I was leaning towards Limwa before seeing her here on DOA. The gallery definitely helps you see the dolls in a different way. I'm new, Love DOA!

    10. Pretty much all of the dolls after my first two. Without DoA I wouldn't know about most of the doll companies...which would be unfortunate because I wouldn't have my boys, but cheaper. So much cheaper, haha.

    11. After my first, I'm pretty sure almost every doll purchase will be a result of DoA.
Not only because of all the beautiful owner pictures, showing different sculpts in a new light but also like Tsukidoll said, if I never joined DoA I wouldn't have known about numerous BJD companies in the first place.

    12. Most, if not all. My process is usually seeing a doll I love, finding out which mold it is and then investigate (search for more owner pics, check out the company pics, etc.). It turns out I have a rather expensive taste, so many times I end up finding out that the mold I fell for is limited/ discontinued/ hard to get/ just plain expensive XD.
But yeah. I never bought a doll directly from the company, and I never decided to buy a doll solely from company pictures. I always have to see owner pics before buying- and they're usually the ones that really do it for me (I'm not a big fan of defaults).

    13. As soon as I came here & saw all the beautiful doll faces I wanted to paint one. I paint with acrylics on canvas so it wasn't too difficult but it is definately different painting on a smooth curved surface. Reminds me of years ago when I painted ceramics.

    14. Soom IO!! After seeing some beautiful owner pics of him [especially box-openings <3] I just had to go snag a head on the marketplace. ^-^

    15. -.- Everything I know is direct result of DOA *bows to DOA*

    16. shushu eeeeep and then maybe a few more msds *hehehe**_*

    17. All but my first one, who was from a friend. Then I liked what I saw on a GO she was in for a Minimee head, and then of course I had to find a body, and... So, yes, lots of homework on DOA, sorting out which body would fit a head I fell in love with on its own, trying to work out faceup styles, trying to find clothes and shoes so I could experiment with styles. Yay for owner pix who help you sort out what you're doing!

    18. My floating Ryushin head. I wasn't planning on buying a doll at all, actually, and I never thought I'd get him because he was an event head. Well, I got access to the marketplace and now I have his pretty little head at my house waiting for a body. :XD:
The marketplace and gallery in general just have a nasty tendency of feeding my addiction.

    19. I have bought all my dolls on DOA and have been wonderfully in love with my Mika Myu and dollfie dream....they are all very pretty dolls.

    20. Hrmm, not directly. Someone posted a pic of their doll on deviant art, and it was a blue fairy may. I went to the site and found Sarang, then found DOA. However, I did find Fairyland through DOA, and I have four FL dolls, so maybe? But no one's specific doll influenced me.

But really, as others have said, everything I know about BJDs... I learned it all here! Thanks all! O__O
