1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What dolls have you bought as a direct result of DoA??

Aug 31, 2008

    1. Oh, wow. Most of them, really, except for the very first one back in 2004, before I knew the old DoA yahoogroup existed. Since I joined DoA later in 2004, I've bought lots of dolls through the Marketplace. Even the dolls I've bought from the companies--or on Y!J or eBay--mostly caught my attention here first, via News threads or owner pictures. There have only been a few dolls that I bought without any DoA input at all, and those were from tiny or brand-new makers (DollTi and Aoi-Tuki, for instance). Without DoA, I certainly wouldn't have the BJD crew that I have and adore!

    2. I know that one of my grill dollies came completely to be because of DoA. I LOVE little fees because of you guys! Shame Shame! heh. I also found out about Daisy Daze hooves on here as well.

So thanks guys! For making me spent like 600 dollors lol!

    3. My incoming Long is because some wonderful people on here suggested him to me :)

    4. All of them, except my first boy who was a CP Moon (he has since been sold).

    5. Hmmm... As a direct result of DoA... Probably only one.

I mean, I've had a number of dolls from companies that I have seen or discussed on DoA, but I was also independently following the companies and looking for photos elsewhere. I've also purchased some from the DoA marketplace, but, again, I saw the dolls elsewhere and while the DoA marketplace was a convenient place to purchase them, I didn't reeeaaallly need to be on DoA to buy them.

However, I was recently browsing a picture references thread and saw a sculpt that I absolutely fell in love with. It was from a very, VERY small head-only company run by a couple of artists that I've never heard about before. I would've definitely NOT bought this doll if I wasn't browsing DoA and happened to stumble across her beautiful face. I think I've only seen.... 4 or 5 of her in total on DoA and flickr (after I found out the name). So this is probably the only one who really qualifies as a purchase directly because of DoA.

    6. Nothing for me yet. No other dolls have really caught my eye

    7. My Emerald King Chalco...
I didn't really care for the Chalco sculpt after looking at Soom's own pictures of him during the Monthly Doll release period, but after seeing a few owner pictures of the white resin Special Order version, I just had to add him to the crew. Even though I tend to avoid white resin dolls these days, I loved the look of the sculpt in that color. I'd never have seen one, though, if it weren't for DoA.

    8. Indirectly, most of them...since I see owner pics that help me decide if I want a certain sculpt or not, or find out what parts are compatible for hybrids.
Directly... 3 dolls, which I bought from the market place. Delf El and Lishe, and DZ Saka + separate bodies for Lishe and Saka. I bought Saka purely because I saw his head for sale in the marketplace and loved it on the spot XD

    9. I got my first boy doll because of DOA. I was already thinking about getting him because I wanted a boyfriend for my other doll, but I think seeing people on DOA enjoying their boy dolls so much is what finally convinced me to get one.

    10. Can't recall if I posted about him before but I bought this boy directly because of DOA...He was on the marketplace.

    11. I don't have any yet from DOA sadly :(

    12. I think Elly (DZ BB Kay) is with me because of DoA. I think I saw an announcement about the new sculpt and I fell head over heels in love!

Eiji (MD Yuri) is also a result of me being here. I only wanted to get Ryu from Migidoll and then I saw a lovely Yuri in the gallery and I decided to buy both. ^_^ (And then I found a Miho head on the MP. So much for 'I only want one'...)

    13. All o them! I started reading StephG's photo story in "Haute Doll", and had to know more. She directed me to Den of Angels, and the rest is history!

    14. The doll that I purchased directly because of DoA would be Cecil, my Luts Abadon Commander of the Blue DoA fullset. I saw the promotion through the DoA birthday celebration a few years back and just HAD to have him.

    15. I think I actually look through more doll photos on Flickr than I do here. XD Although I've seen quite a few pictures from the company threads that I follow that I might not have stumbled across elsewhere. That said, I don't think any of my doll purchases could be directly tied to participation here--but I can completely understand how that could happen. There's so much content here.

    16. My Soom Mega Gem kell made me fall in love with him on the MP. he's all I have atm but I've ordered a Loongsoul Fargas Werewolf fullset as a direct result of the news someone poste when he became available

    17. I started collecting dolls as a direct result of DOA but after that it was box openings and Flickr :)
seeing dolls at home helped me to understand what sculpts I loved and wanted :)

    18. Not a full doll but a body, the minifee one.

    19. I got my CP Chiwoo here in DoA from a member and that's one of the best choices I've ever made! I love my boy so much:aheartbea oh and thanks to DoA I was able to buy the perfect body match for my DOD Zen, my cutie pie now has a body that matches in proportion and skin colour. <333

    20. I haven't bought any as a result of DoA yet, but there's plenty I added to my wishlist like a Supia Rosy and Volks School B. :) I peruse pictures on Flickr more so than DoA and would say that Flickr is the primary motivation for quite a few of my dolly purchases.
