1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What dolls have you bought as a direct result of DoA??

Aug 31, 2008

    1. Well.. I wasn't a member on DoA, when I bought my first doll.. And my otter from Doll Factory isn't a result of DoA influence either.. But the next doll I am going to buy, a MNF Miyu, is totally a result of seeing (too many?) owner pics.. ^^

    2. All three of my current dolls, and all three of the dolls I used to own but have since sold to get my current three. :]

I don't remember whose Unoa Lusis I first fell in love with, but it was Xi-Feng's Volks Yo-tenshi Kasumi, Ikikuna, and captainkyo's Volks SeiRei Yugiri, Beck, who I first fell in love with and inspired me to buy those molds.

    3. Just about everything. The only molds I bought without being influenced here were Dollshe boys that I discovered on eBay and a Leeke Tiny that I saw on someone's blog. I mostly just look at the new News threads and can decide from there pretty much if I want a particular doll.

    4. My DiM Persia!
After finding owner pictures on here and finding him on the marketplace...That was what led to me getting him ♥

    5. Surprisingly, DoA didn't influence my purchases all that much. I fell in love with Williams, SwD Lucas and School C on external Japanese websites after seeing repaints of them, and my SD Sara was an impulse buy I never regretted (which prompted me to get a SwD Nana as her twin). My yotenshi Yuh was adopted from a friend cos I adored her photos of Yuh on Flickr, and my Tony was also an impulse buy from here without me seeing many user photos beforehand. I think for me, Flickr, japanese websites, Y!J and LJ are bigger influences on my dolly choices than DoA, although I love to come here for news, help and info. :)

    6. i think the pics posted are extremely influential. i would not be aware of many of the dolls available without DOA as a database. i knew of a few "dolfies" as a result of hunting for dolls on ebay. that hunt led me to DOA.....and DOA led me to some of my doll choices. just learning of all the different companies, and sculpts out there has broadened my knowledge and desires.

that being said, i recently bought (not received yet), "tiny" Mina and CoCo from DOA's "tinybear". i don't know that i would have bought a "tiny" if not for the pics and information here. i thought, too much money for something so small, and i was not terribly interested in having a "baby" type doll.( as many tinies are) her dolls are very realistic looking, and i must say that CoCo is "most definitely"not a baby!

DOA also allows for small, independent, and individual companies and aritists to show and sell their work through the marketplace, that would otherwise not be readily available.

in summery,YES, DOA is absolutely influential!

    7. Every single one, except for the first one. I saw her on ebay and bought her. After she arrived, and I saw the company name on the box, I googled some stuff and found DOA.

    8. Pukis, definately Pukis

    9. There wasn't much out there when I first joined, but even so I combed all sources of info carefully to compare quality, price and character/look. I knew I wanted an elf for my first bjd, so I adopted first a Sharmin and then a ShinCho. Neither of them really had much to do with DOA (I mean the other way around), they were bought new from their respective companies via ebay.

Since then though, there have been many instances where I didn't care for the company/stock photos of a given doll, but DOA owner photos changed my mind, or I just happened to find something neat in the marketplace that needed a home!

    10. I haven't bought any of them yet, but DoAers are responsible for me loving alot of molds, but let's see: Soom Sard, CP Lu-Wen, DoT Homme Ducan, MiniFee Shiwoo, DZ Floy, CP El, and I'm sure there's more. Hiritai's (SP?) Hayden (MD Ryu) made me fall in love with the Ryu mold, but I first saw him on DA.

Darn you people and your pretty dollies. You'll be the end of me...Or my wallet. Whichever comes first.

    11. If not for DoA, I'd never have bought my Luts LuWen. The shop photos just aren't pretty (am I the only one who thinks so?). But seeing the user pictures on DoA, my heart leaped to my throat and I knew I'd found my perfect Galadhen.

    12. Exactly. I hate the pics on the site but Lu-Wen is beautiful. Same thing with El. I hate the site pics, but love the owner pics. :)

    13. I know! So do I! Those are two of CP's lovliest molds. What were the site photographers thinking?!

    14. oh, if it wasn't for DoA I may have never found out half of what I know, and probably might have never found IpleHouse and the beautiful tatiana :sweat

And the evil DoA is still at it! trying to lure me away from Tatiana with all these other beauties!

OH GOD YES! the Pukis! *_*:D addicting little wallet killers XD

    15. FensElgen - They are! Though, I'm suprised anybody wanted one in the first place when the pics on the site suck so much. I think a fiive-year old with a camera could take better shots than whoever took those. Lu-Wen looks like he has bug eyes and El just looks high!

Of course, I'm a bit angry about finding owner pics on DoA because now I have a bigger wishlist, and a soon to be smaller wallet. lol

    16. Within your means LOL. This hobby, I have rapidly discovered, forces you to exercise some self control... even though it makes doing so incredibly difficult! There will always be heads floating through DoA... this is what I tell myself

    17. Lessee. . .I joined DoA shortly after I spotted Camine. I'm pretty sure that I found Gigglegeek's site through this forum, which led me to my beloved Meoloo. So DoA had some kind of influence over him.

DoA had all the influence over my Zephyros, though, because I got him through the Marketplace. :)

    18. There have been a few...Dollzone Ray, Dollzone Xi-Aleister, both Unoas...DoA is an awesome resource for finding new and gorgeous dollies!

    19. Seeing the Delf Shines, as few as there are, on here really confirmed my love for the doll. I have yet to get one but I know that they will be the next doll i get once I have the funds.

Also if not for the Marketplace I never would have been able to buy a doll, Nabee boy, that I think is perfect for my character.

    20. Definately my Shine ^^
Shine was a bit bland for my liking when he came out. I really didn't like him. Then saw a few on DoA and it was 'want' from there. Looking at Jez next to me, I don't regret it at all. All the others... I liked them on the company's pages but DoA just fuelled my want more.
