1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What dolls have you bought as a direct result of DoA??

Aug 31, 2008

    1. Directly, in that I saw pictures of them on DoA and decided I had to buy them... one floating head I found on the marketplace. It was a limited faceup, and even looking at the company's website none of the official pictures do it any justice but when I saw the closeup owner pics in the sale thread I had to get it.
Indirectly, I have participated in one split and have joined a second, for dolls I fell in love with outside of DoA but didn't have the funds to purchase them without joining the split.

I also found a sculpt that is perfect for one of my original characters at a doll meet that I wouldn't even have known about if not for DoA (the meet not the doll). I haven't yet managed to buy this doll, but I am actively looking, and once I get her it will be as a direct result of seeing one in person at the meet. The company pictures and even owner pictures just don't look as appealing as the doll in real life did.

    2. For me, first it was Ariadoll Spring Fairy Narvy. I first saw the body I like as a Volks Kun hybrid in a photo threead here so I followed followed the threads back to Everpurple, then jumped for her when the Ariadoll closing deadline was announced here on DoA, just before the body mold sales to Switch. I still wonder what happened to the head molds though. Likely sitting under a bench in a workshop somewhere in a studio in Asia....

oddly, the decision to wait for an unmodded Unoss also came from the forum, after discussing the pros and cons with an owner that was kind enough to answer a lot of my questions.

      Both great decisions, BTW...

    3. If I haven't seen the doll in person, I always check the databases here to make sure the doll looks good in different styles, so nearly all of my doll purchases have been somewhat influenced by the forum.

There's been several dolls that I own that I've bought directly from loving someone's photo here on DOA; the most recent I can think of is an Amber boy. I was seriously unimpressed with the Amber sculpt when it came out, but once people started getting them and turning them into boys, I had to have one!
