1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What dolls have you bought as a direct result of DoA??

Aug 31, 2008

    1. I wasn't a fan of Bianka or Souseiseki but after seeing both of them customized I see possiblities that can happen! I got a Bianka and am eventually goign to get a souseiseki head. DoA pictures of the dolls help with seeing them in a different light!

    2. I have done a lot of looking into BJD companies through the years and I really only liked Volks and CP dolls. Then after logging out from DoA last night, I saw the AOD ad. I'd seen AOD on the BJD companies list, but I was too lazy to look besides, I loved Volks and CP.
But curious, as red is my favorite color I clicked on it and snooped around...that's when I saw Basic Mini Rao. I instantly fell in love. I looked and found box opening pictures of a Rao and decided that that was who HAD to be my first BJD. I even said I'd never buy a mini:sweat

    3. My Elfdoll Adel. When I first saw the Elfdoll tinies, I thought, "I'll stick to 1/3 scale." But, a few gallery posts later, I found myself looking for the best distributor to get one.

    4. If it wasn't for DoA I probably would have never considered owning a BJD. I also wouldn't have found half the BJD companies mentioned on my own. So I guess me ordering a ResinSoul Long is a result of DoA :)

    5. My Ryo...but the others are from the bad influence of Haute Doll. Lol

    6. well heres the deal, i have four dolls i really like, and two of them are not limiteds so i figure i can wait on those, the other two are and one is for sale on iple house and the other is a doll someone here on doa is selling, i love them both but im really hoping the person on doa will work with me so i can get her doll, cuz shes gorgous and the only doll with teeth ive seen so far that i want to own!

soooo i realllllly hope i can come back in a few weeks or whatever and say my first doll is a direct result of doa

      cross your fingers >.<

    7. Aside from being made aware of new molds on DOA, I think that my Lu Wen was a direct result of DOA. I usually check for owner pictures before buying - just to make sure I can get the look I want out of a doll, but I tend to pick unpopular molds so usually I just buy and see! However, I didn't want to buy Lu Wen at all until I saw some nice owner pictures on DOA.

Also my Olivia boy; I saw her possibilities as a boy here on DOA but wouldn't have bought her otherwise.

    8. For me, I fell instantly inlove with Suiseiseki, but I when I first got her, I didnt like her at all. Her face up did not justify her at all.... But after I sold her and I saw her potential.. I was so kicking myself for selling her T-T So... after 6 months, Ive saved up and now shes back on her way again :D!!!!! Im so excited.

I think also, I was originally inlove with Volks Luna mold, but after I saw owner pictures... it was to die for... and I had to have her. I think really, alot of what DOA does is promote the potential of molds! And for that, Im so happy that DoA exist! :D Its really a great assest to us all and to have other people ALL across the WORLD share in this hobby--- truly its an amazing thing.

    9. Well, my incoming Bisou Ai Bonbon. I never would have even seen known about her in the first place were it not for DoA, but seeing photos of ocean-girl's little Bonbon really sealed the deal. :)
I just hope I can do the mold justice with a face-up. :sweat

    10. As a direct result of this forum I am about to order Mei from ResinSoul. In fact, I am SO head-over-heals for ResinSoul I started a group order to "justify" my inability to control myself... My wish list, which was already ridiculous, is now completely out of control because people have so many gorgeous dolls here...

    11. my entire Miho was bought from DoA, so I guess that's a pretty direct result :) I also plan on getting all the rest of his stuff right here.

Other than that... well I havent bought lots of dolls, but DoA is an excellent ressource for any buyer! Owner pics always helps alot. Im very glad this forum exists.

    12. ResinSoul Mei. I would never have found that company were it not for DoA

    13. My first doll WS AOD Liu Yin I first saw on the Doa Marketplace, also My NS Bobobie Sprite, My Orientdoll So Dong and My WS Bobobie Eric Girl. Everyone but my Lati Yellow Coco is a direct result of Doa and there are loads I've see that I want. This is a dangerous and wonderful board.

    14. All of 'em.

      Every single one.

    15. Probably a good amount of my dolls were because of DoA, I bought through GOs and splits where I normally might not have bought direct from the company myself.
and many others were bought second hand in market place.

Some are due to user pics here. Shinisiya did not catch my eye on the Volks site, but a doll belonging to a user here made me like them enough to buy one.

    16. Both of my current girls are a direct result of DoA. I hunted for a long time for the perfect Dollstown sculpt after seeing Artdoll56's girls...they just completely blew me away! And my dreaming El modded elf was found right here in the marketplace. The artistry of those mods were absolutely stunning and I didn't care one whit if that Luts BW head was yellowed or not! I modded it further to open up the eyes and it became my female El, Sacrisity.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't even consider buying a doll that I hadn't researched intensly right here on DoA. You get to see how they "really" look, for better or worse, and find out consumer opinions about the companies that are producing them from people who actually have the dolls in hand.

    17. I first saw Yugiri on Angelden.net, and i fell for him instantly.
but i found that website thru DoA, so i guess DoA helped with him.
Also i had help to get him thru doa aswell. <3

My mnf Ryeon i found directly on DoA.
The moment her news thread was posted, had to have her <3

    18. *looks at sig*

Everyone except Bean and Mellyanna. Although a Delf Kid Ani was the first bjd I fell in love with I didn't realise there was an elf version until I looked on DoA. I probably wouldn't have kept Melly without DoA and finding a different body for her in the Marketplace.

    19. I hold DOA responsible for most of my dolls! I "discovered" Volks in 2oo4, joined DOA on Yahoo, bought my first dolls (CP Elves El and Lishe with vamp heads) through a "shopper" 'cuz Luts hadn't started selling to the West, and my obsession just grew like crazy. I'm almost afraid to go to the News section nowadays. :sweat

    20. Digging up an older thread here........"What dolls have you bought as a direct result of DoA??"...........

Well, nearly all of them! with the exception of my Dollstown Estella, she was pre DoA!
When I discovered DoA, I couldn't believe it, I was in doll heaven!!.............It wasn't long before I found companies I'd never seen before, I was like a kid in a candy store! :fangirl:

So I have DoA to thank........."Thanks Guys"..........without you I would be floundering along, clueless to what was out there. I was able to research dolls and learn so much about how they were made ect.

I'd also like to say I think the doll companies would be "lost" without DoA.......can you imagine the amount of direct sales they have had because of this wonderful forum :D

Then there is the Marketplace here, where I found my Dollstown Yeondu and lots of other exciting dollie things............So yes, because of DoA I have a wonderful resin BJD family..........and it's still growing......;)

      xen :)
