It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. What Dolly Rules Do You Set For Yourself?

Jan 23, 2011

    1. I said I wouldn't get anything over a 60cm. But my Dollmore Kyle Reese is my favorite dolly! xD

    2. The rules I set:
      1) equal number of girl and boys
And what happens? More girls than boys. Not my fault that guy characters are harder to create.
      2) wigs and eyes and dolls must be of the same style since the dolls come from the same world.
Yeah, still keeping this rule to quell my OCDnee. Working well till I saw a limited doll. And a clockwork doll, and a cute child doll, and another with lovely posing.
      3) wigs and eyes must be of natural colours
Oh, like real. I want crazy highlights, and insane combinations. Highly saturated colours for eyes, or overly pale ones and everything in between.
      4) dolls in one size, the guys in 1 type of body, the girls in 1 body type
Still keeping this, this rule is mostly due to my OCDness
      5) different eye colours/wig colours unless they are twins
why are my dolls mostly dark haired?
      6) neutral face sculpt or with very, very slight frown or smirk/smile.

    3. Now, this is not a rule I thought about...but I noticed that none of my dolls(of the same size) have similar eyes or wigs. I always to try to make them different, style wise.

    4. I really only have one rule, if you can call it that! Don't get changed, or dressed, in front of Alex.

I don't know why, but he's been with me for almost three weeks and I've not once changed without covering his head with something if he's sat out! I know he's not judging me, and I know he won't be disgusted because he's a doll, but it's some weird "rule" I have.

    5. I can't have more than one of the same thing, the only exception would be if I had dolls that were twins or otherwise closely related. I can't have more than one of the same doll, more than one of the same body, nobody can have the same eye color, and if they have the same hair color they have to have different hairstyles. I don't know why I'm like this, I just am. They eyes have a little wiggle room because there's so many different SHADES of the same color, and THAT's okay, like I have three dolls with green eyes (bright green, dark green, grey-green) and three with brown eyes (dark brown, greenish-brown, amber)

I guess it's just my little bit of OCD showing. -shrug-

    6. "I will not get more dolls."----> But it's a practice head, and it was less that 15$.
----->Look at how cute he is..... You love him too, right?
"Lousi is staying as a practice head"----> I bought him eyes.... I was thinking of geting him a body, too.
Yeah, rules go down the drain.
But the one ,not so unspoken anymore, I have kept. Only boys.

    7. 1. Nothing bigger than a Yo-sd
      2. Pay in full only, no layaway
      3. No asking for dolls for Christmas/any other holiday
      4. Wigs and eyes are the only things no custom-made...or yard-sale bought:)
      5. I must love it blank as well as with a face up!

    8. 1. Aesthetic cohesion with dolls I already have. It bothers me to no end if they don't look like they can coexist in the same fictional world.
      2. No non-essential dolls (to story). I have lots of characters, but I don't need dolls for all of them.
      3. No wigs, eyes, clothes, or shoes that are "just to try out." They must really feel in character to me before purchase. Less annoyance on my part if they don't work out this way.
      4. No layaway. That's dangerous and financial situations change from month to month.
      5. Do not purchase a doll unless you have the money to buy the wig, eyes, shoes, and at least one outfit as well.

That's all I have so far.

    9. 1. I'll have just one.
      - Pff, I knew it wouldn't last.

      2. NO KIDS
      - Haven't break it yet

      3. Every head have to have an own body
      - Haven't broke this either

      4. No wig/eye/shoe hoarding
      - Oops... long gone

      5. Equal amount of boys and girls
      - Ha. I tend to prefer boys.

      6. No grey
      - Don't have one but I really want one.

      7. No hyper ranting about their awesomeness to my not-bjd-fan friends.
      - Oops. Sorry guys

    10. Not really an odd rule, but I am not allowed to buy more than 5 dolls. Too many more than that and I would feel guilty about spending all that money and I think I just wouldn't have enough room for all the accessories and things like furniture that I would want to have for them. My first doll alone nearly takes up half of my work room with all of her things, I would hate to try to imagine how much room I would need to maintain a collection much larger than 5 dolls at one time. Plus all the time that goes into finding the right things for them; just finding wigs that I liked for Effie took months. I'm still struggling to find things for the Rischa I have on the way and I got really lucky with my Mecy because his last owner was really generous and gave me clothes and shoes for free. I picked a Resinsoul Mei as my second girl mainly because most of what I have for Effie will fit her perfectly and helps to cut down on my search for character appropriate accessories.

    11. No doll spending from November-February. That's Chirstmas/Birthday saving money time.

    12. "No more dolls until I finish building my computer." -- I've bought one since "officially" putting doll plans on hold (darnit Dollshe lol), two others before that when I was supposedly computer-saving, and probably more if I count initial "I really need a new computer and should halt the dolls for now" claims.

So many other "rules" I've broken while in the hobby... including "no floating heads" and "I don't like blank dolls" and "save for the doll first" (yay layaways XD )...

As to actual rules I'm keeping, hmm. I have this thing where I really don't want a doll coming home to no wig and eyes waiting for them if they aren't coming with what I want, and it used to be clothes too but I've let that slide for a while now. If I don't know what eyes or wig I want for the doll (which is sort of a rare circumstance, especially when it comes to wig), then the rule doesn't apply.

    13. All boy dolls... Never seen a girl sculpt appeal to me.

They must all work into my weird yaoi/mpreg fixation. That means "Hmm... he could totally be this one's uke >:) and now my tiny will have such a cute mommy!" XD

And lastly, buy the parts first if they're from a different company that the doll.

    14. 1.) No MSD bigger than my Bobobie Soul.
2.) Their eyes, faceup, accessories and wig make the character.
3.) They each have a name, and they will tell it to me.
4.) I have to ask before I make any modifications to them.
5.) They arent allowed to share shoes.
6.) Its up to me to figure out which animal represents them best.

    15. - No SD dolls
      - Number of dolls owned should be uneven (it arranges better :sweat)
      - None of the dolls will ever be sold
      - Don't buy expensive items if you can make them or something similar yourself

      - No girls >> that's the only one rule that didn't make it in the end :)

    16. -Everyone is in scale (the YOSDs look like small children, the MSDs are 10-12 yr olds, and they look those ages next to each other). Fantasy creatures are excluded from this rule, which is the only way I can explain my MSD girl with large boobs.

-No more slim YOSDs and MSDs. I have one in each size and they tend to stretch the "in scale" rule.

-No more gay boys (unless I sculpt them myself). Several of my boys are gay (or are that way when they are adults), and I feel like I'm leaving my straight characters out in the cold.

-No stereotypes. I like to think my characters are well-rounded and I like to dress them like they're normal people (excluding fantasy characters). Which is why my emo-ish looking boy has blond hair and is wearing a bright green shirt with his black clothes and is rarely photographed moping. And why Lee will never ever be photographed wearing a dress or kissing a boy.

-No fetish fuel. Definitely, no dolly smut. I'll only photograph their genitals if it involves a mod or a sales thread.

-No makeup on my boys. Just no.

-More girls. Seriously. One of my oldest characters hasn't gotten shelled because she is a girl (and expensive).

-Break all my rules. I know I will. ;)

    17. No allowed buying eyes over 30$ and no allowed buying wigs over 50$... otherwise i would be bankrupt

No boys >.< I have only seen 2 sculpts that apeal to me and they are Soom and therefore expensive

No kids. Chubby kid dolls don't apeal to me at ALL

No buying expensive things if i think i can make it myself

Only buy a doll if it fits into one of my pre-made doll designs

Never pay more than 400 for a doll ( well I broke that with my Cuprit but its worh it)

    18. I break the majority of my rules (like "don't get a 70cm doll" "don't get a celebrity doll" "don't get a limited doll" "one doll a year" among others)

But my current rules are at:

      1. Don't buy a doll without selling one you have (which is so hard! x_x)
      2. No more white skin dolls, especially paper-white. It's too hard to face-up.
      3. Never buy clothes until you have failed miserably at sewing it yourself.
      4. Stop buying eyeballs like candy.
      5. 50cm and above dolls are in the "realistic" crew. Below 50cm dolls are in the "stylized" crew. Somehow they're all teenagers except for the 1/6 dolls...

    19. For me it's just not mixing up the type of dolls.
So I'd never store my Pullips with my bjds nor take a photo with them together.
I like to have them seperated from each other.

    20. So I don't know if this is a rule or not, but I can't stand cute looking big boys (1/3 and bigger, occasionally 1/4 as well). I like my bigger boys to be mature looking, and somewhat realistic. NO BIG EYES! It's ok if they're pretty and femenin looking, but they can't be chubby and childish and cute! Of course, it's totally ok to be cute for smaller dolls!

I feel like I would never break this rule. I mean, if I can't stand looking at the pictures, I'd most likely never get the doll. If I do ever get one though, it must be because it's actually really pretty and I actually love it. In this case, I'd probably like just as much as my other dolls.
