1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What Dolly Rules Do You Set For Yourself?

Jan 23, 2011

1. 1. Everyone must be unique from each other. Names should not sound similar or start with the same letter if at all possible, hair colours/styles must be different and no one can have the same colour of eyes.

2. Must be this height to enter, and no babies allowed! 55cm and up only! (But... oh gosh... lately, I really want an Unoa L-Bi for some reason... nooo!)

3. All dollies must be treated with a suitable amount of respect: Do not touch faceups. Ever. Do not leave dolls in awkward/hazardous positions, and be sure to carry them in a safe manner. They should be covered with a cloth when it's very sunny out or I'm not around to enjoy them.

4. (Though this is technically the most important!) No one is allowed to be creepy. You can be grouchy, angsty, ethereal, seductive or completely out of it, but I don't tolerate getting creepy feelings from a doll. Every doll is prayed over and dedicated, whether they were secondhand or not. I had a terrible experience with a very bad doll long before I was ever into BJDs and it would be heartbreaking for it to happen again. I don't take chances. :vein

2. Do you do something that some might think is odd, or quirky, or whatever?
I like to make sure all my dolls are mostly boys that wear 18- 19th century clothes, and I make most of their personalities anti- social. I also get itchy thinking that If I put my doll's shoes in the box, that the sheets in there will get dirty (no matter how clean the shoes)

What is it, and why do you do it?

I don't know why I do this, preference perhaps?

Do you follow your rules, or have you broken them. If you've broken them, what did it for you?

I never break my rules!! Im kinda partially Ocd and I need them!!

3. Do you do something that some might think is odd, or quirky, or whatever?
yes

What is it, and why do you do it?

no doll items that are made with materials that come from animals
no curly wigs, I have curly hair and I hate it so I'm not going to put it on my dolls
no elf ears
no piercings
no taking money for dolls/doll-related items from savings (I separate a certain amount for dolls every now and then)
only buy a doll/doll-related item(s) if you have enough money saved up to pay it all at once/no layaway/no impluse buys/no buying on credit
do not buy anything that you won't use more than once
no more than one doll per year
no more than $150 per outfit (and for me to pay that much it needs to be pretty close to perfect)
only one boy
only one YoSD
only one MSD and it has to be a girl (not even sure that I'll ever own an MSD but this is the rule just in case)
all dolls must have at least two outfits, one pairs of eyes, one wig (2 preferably) and one pair of shoes.

for most of these rules it's a preference thing, sometimes convinience

Do you follow your rules, or have you broken them. If you've broken them, what did it for you?

yes I follow them, haven't broken any of the rules, and I'll probably keep it that way.

4. If I were to get a girl doll it would HAVE to be Perfect. It would have to match one of the few female characters I have. I'm not much a fan of girls....to prissy. I'm weird I know.

5. I guess my rule right now is not more the 5 dolls at home at a time. I don't know I just feel that this is my limit I need to set to give my dolls the time and attention they deserve. Also I like buying things for my dolls something that will rack up in costs should there be 10-30 dolls. Right now Amy is an only child until luts brings out another set of centaurs or Zuzu BICHON.

6. I'll probably come back with me, but the first one that popped up into my head was this: No repeat bodies. There's too much diversity out there for me to have two bodies that are carbon copies of one another. My first two dolls were both DOC's and I realized early on how much I HATED them having the same body, and for awhile I seriously considered swapping one of them out. Ultimately though I wound up hybriding one of them with Angelheim legs/hooves, so although at times it still irks me, they're different enough for me to deal with it. Never again though.

7. I have to distribute attention to all of them. I feel guilty if one of my dolls gets more attention so I take them off the shelf and fawn over them with my friends.
I can't take pictures unless it's for humor purposes or for actual good photos or I feel really weird.
I can't have a doll who needs to wear specific colors so I usually make sure their colors are natural.

8. My rule is not to buy anything I can make myself. I've broken it with a couple of things that I know I could possibly do once I get a sewing machine, but otherwise it really helps me not spend loads on clothes.

9. I am not allowed to order anymore dolls until I have the basics covered for all dolls that are currently home. This means every doll that's home must have a face-up, wig, eyes, and at least one outfit (shoes not totally necessary, but preferable) before I can buy another.

It's not as much a "rule" as it is something I adhere to because it makes sense to me, but it's kind of a rule since hubbs would never let me break it. ^_^

10. I will only buy SD or bigger.
*looks at her msd and the list that grows*

I JUST CANT HELP IT!! THEY ARE SOOOO CUTE!!

11. I don't like having tiny dolls or less mature sculpts, also I like to keep each pair of eyes in their own seperate container

12. I have quite a few rules for myself.

1. I'll make most of my boys outfits. - I've been buying so much clothes and have rarely picked up a needle and thread.
2. I only want SD size and larger. - I'm saving up for two MSDs that I want.
3. I'll only have boys. - I plan on saving up for a girl after I get the MSDs.
4. I'll only get one doll once a year. - I've already ordered my second doll a month after my first one.
5. No layaway. - So far, I've stuck to this rule.
6. Keep the curtains closed when I'm away. - I do this anyways because I don't like the idea of people being able to peer into my room and seeing how messy it is.
7. Never leave dolls in precarious locations or positions.
8. Change dolls clothes and clean them at least once a week.

I still have many more but that's because I can get very paranoid.

13. I wouldn't say that I have a "rules" as such but I do
assuredly have collecting guidelines which I (mostly)
have stuck with.

A - All my kids are in the 1/4 scale range (40cm - 55cm)

B - Pursue diversity. Ideally I'd like each to come from a different
company but I keep falling in love with Iplehouse girls and they
are one of the few companies with mature looking boys so now I
have 5 of their dolls (At least they are all different resins)

C - I have a few groupings of dolls that play and are photographed
together including 3, now, romantic couples.

D - When I buy a new doll I also buy clothing and wig for it so
I don't have nekkid dolls waiting to find clothing for.

E - I prefer dolls that don't seem angry or sulky.

F - When I name dolls I usually use the sculpt name or a name
starting with the same letter as the sculpt. Hence Shushu becomes
Shayla. Of course my Volks SDC Gretel is named Sophia but she
was a special case....

14. 1. No dolls bigger than 50 cm.
2. No dolls smaller than 10 cm.
Unless it is an animal bjd.
3. Only resin bjds.
Unless it is a 3d printed animal bjd.
4. Every doll wears only one set of eyes
If I change the eyes, I feel like the "soul" is gone. I can change eyes to find the perfect match, but once found, they stay in.
5. Every doll must have a name and at least a bit of character.
6. I prefer for all of my tinies to be part of the same story in the same universe.
7. No double sculpts.
Unless my friend would ever sell my doll's twin sister perhaps.
8. Everyone who has feet needs at least one pair of shoes.
9. If it wears a skirt, it wears undies.
10. Every doll needs a different color or shade of eyes.
12. Limit the amount of black haired dolls.
13. Every doll needs at least one default wig.
14. No more than....
I keep breaking this rule over and over again.
15. Outfits needs to be <100.

15. I have only one bjd, and she's a mature tiny. I plan to buy only mature tiny because I want my dolls to look good together. I do plan to eventually get a male MSD to go with two non- bjds that are close to that size. I don't like putting dolls that are different sizes together.

16. 1 Only boys, broke it, now have 2 girls, trying to sell one, just prefer boy dolls
2 No more msd dolls, keep buying them because they are cheaper, but prefer more realistic male bodies ; )
3 All must have the same style look and not look weird together
4 No 2 bodies or heads can be the same, unless they were twins, don't think I can afford to go down that path.
5 must look over 16 , no really immature looking dolls, like kids just doesn't work for my story.

Thats about it

17. I'm still waiting for my first, but seeing how I already have "rules" I'll post here (if that's ok with you guys ^^'):

#1 Rule: Don't contemplate buying any dolls not originally in my first doll's backstory.
#2 Rule: Don't twist his backstory around just to squeeze in a cute doll ´ㅁ´

18. My general rule is that if I can't easily pose them and have them sit by the computer with me then they don't stay. Which sucks because the bodies I just got for my two DZ hybrids breaks that rule hardcore. They are way too big and super floppy floppy. I adore them though and I just finished some killer cool customization on one of them. I'm going to try to see if I can find smaller bodies for the heads. (maybe even the original bodies) I just love them too much to fully get rid of them but the bodies are a nightmare for me...if only I could figure out a way to make them more manageable in the bodies they have.

19. I'm an impulsive buyer and would be in much worse financial shape if dolls didn't have such long turnaround times. I'm trying to pace myself though so I've set up a few self enforced rules.

1. No more dolls until I've gotten blushing done and clothes made for two of my dolls. No more than two blank dolls at a time.

2. No online shopping after 10 pm.

3. Don't buy craft stuff for dolls unless I have a plan in mind or it is amazingly cheap.

What doll rules do you have?

20. My only rule at the moment is no more dolls until I get a new sewing machine and camera. I feel like I'm missing too much by not having a camera, and I'd love to get into sewing again.

Of course the exception to that is one of my girls is currently just a head, if I find a body for her, she shall have it!
