Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. What Dolly Rules Do You Set For Yourself?

Jan 23, 2011

    1. I try not to have too many dolly rules because I know I'll tend to break them easily xD
For example : I wanted no white skin doll, no pet doll, no unoa, no over 500 dollars BJD. I have a white skin DC Russell (which is totally a pet doll), a unoa sist on a boy body, and a Cerisedolls Ellana.
As for the rules, or "won't do" things that remained : there's a couple sculpts I don't want home, not because they are "ugly" in my opinion but because I've seen waaaaaay too many and just completely overdosed. For the purchase habits, I try not to buy any doll before the ones I have are "complete", in the way that they have enough clothes, I can see in them the characters they shell, and I'm just overall satisfied with them. I don't earn a lot of money and would rather spend it on the dolls I already have, otherwise it's just sooo frustrating to have a lot of in progress, unsatisfying dolls that you can't work on because you spent your money on yet another doll.
Also, no layaways ! If I don't have the money, I don't buy, specially since I don't have a regular income.

    2. My rules lately have been only use my gift money for dolls. I dont want a lot of dolls, so i should be able to get the ones i want without using the money i need to save for a house. I almost feel spoiled, but i think getting a doll like once a year (i only really want four dolls so i wont have to worry about that anymore) isnt that bad.

    3. So far one of my main rules is never buy a yo-sd. Mostly because of the size, I feel like if I just save a bit more for an MSD. Also a strict rule I have right now is never buy a doll more expensive than my grail (Dream of Doll Rain) which will probably end up being about $600-$650 with the face up and shipping included. Or any doll about $450 because if I save a little more I could get Rain. It really sets a doll price limit for myself because I have so many other hobbies and interests that I don't want to spend everything on this one right now, but maybe when I get a better job that'll change.

    4. It's not really a rule, but I tend not to pick sculpts owned by other people I know for my own dolls. WHICH MAKES IT REALLY DIFFICULT FOR ME HAHA because my choices become extremely limited and all. It's mostly just because I'm DEADLY afraid of being called out of being a copycat, even though I know that this isn't the case.

I'll get it over it... sooner or later. Sooner or later.

    5. I have one rule; you are allowed to buy max 2 dolls a year! <xD
Two days ago I promised myself to only buy clothes and finish off my existing guys before reaching out for more dolls. Oops. :sweat

    6. The one rule - The doll must fit in/be "approved" by my existing dolls
      .
There are a lot of sculpts I like and experience from the playline showed that getting dolls that fit in with the existing dolls, makes it easier to work with them than trying to cram a character into it. It also helps to avoid having too many dolls with too similar background and personality(Sorry offsprings of Alpha couple, you're too similar in personality to beta couple)

The one doll that managed to bend the rules currently operates out of four different shells that she considers her in-between cat-human form. Anymore dolls I get would likely be tied to her forms or that of her husband. I'm kinda hoping she would throw me a MSD form or approve me an anthro fox comrade.

The current crew is making it hard for me to get more dolls by countering every new sculpt I like simply by changing their wigs and clothes...(manly man, beautiful mature female/fake bishonen, young brooding male, young girl/cute fake boy.... My ladies, they crossdress to get more clothes.

I given up "arguing" with them, they know their hierarchy better than I do,

    7. All of my resin dolls are original characters. So my main "rule" is that the doll fit into one of the story lines I have. In the past I've bought a few dolls that I really liked, but they didn't fit into any story. Every one of them ended up being rehomed because they got no attention.

My most recent rule - don't buy another doll when you have one on a long, extended, pricey layaway! Oh, how close I came...... *_*

    8. Hmm thats an interesting question. I think i have some wierd rules of my own.
      1) Every doll of mine must have a story and a name
      2) I really treat them with respect and as if they were alive
      3) (this one is kinda wierd) Since i feel akward talking i feel like we are talking with my mind so i have these huge conversation with every doll.
      4) Everyone doll must have the style that fits their character
      5) Idont put labels in female and male clothes, they are just clothes for me and my dollies :D

    9. I have so many rules for myself! But I am constantly breaking/bending them nowadays.
      1) Equal number of boys & girls. This is really difficult since I have a hard time finding female sculpts I like, but a really easy time finding attractive male sculpts.
      2) Only SD-sized dolls. That was going fine until I met a Unoa Lusis in person; she was just too cute for me to handle. Now I'm thinking of bending this rule for this ONE and only sculpt. :love Also, no doll (in the main family) under 60cm. It's too small compared to 70cm and it would mess up the whole aesthetics of the group!
      3) Every doll MUST have a pair; either a sibling, twin, mate, best friend, etc. That way, the group maintains a certain unity I'm striving for.
      4) Ideally, my doll family ends after 7 dolls.. I find that a family of 7 is so nice, I hope I can simply stop when I reach that number! haha what am I thinking really!
      5) Only realistic-looking sculpts that match with each other!
