What emotion do you like your doll to have?

Apr 22, 2014

    1. Well my Nova is a luts Mia and when I first saw her online i thought she was going to be an old soul, mostly serious, but when I got my girl I found out she was very pouty and a little entitled, she's very sweet and all, she just knows what she wants and is a little annoyed when I'm a bit slow on the upkeep. It's actually not at all what I wanted or expected in a doll but she's absolutely adorable and I love it.

    2. I like dolls that appear either sad or filled with joy, though most of the dolls I own appear pretty neutral.:sweat

    3. In general terms, I like a soft smile that can change based on angle... maybe not so smile-y that the doll always looks happy, but one that could look content or pleased or wistful or devious depending on styling and angle and the faceup...

In terms of specifics, with my dolls...

Vince is cheerful so he should look it. Even if he's sometimes a demanding little brat who wants to be spoiled, he's also the cuddliest doll I've got, and it's his character to just see and dwell on the best side of things.

      Pete's more wry and sassy.

Billy... Billy turned out sweet when last I did his faceup, and I'm really pleased, because he really should look like a sweetheart.

    4. I think I mostly prefer dolls with a bit of a pout or sad face. I feel like I bond a bit better with the ones who can look sad or shy... something about them feels vulnerable to me I guess.

Having said that I do really love my Pongpong.... :D

    5. A serious and very glamorous emotion

    6. I tend to like slightly melancholic, contemplative expressions, where the doll looks lost in thought or faraway in their daydreams. And a slightly ambiguous mouth, a smile or frown so subtle that it can be read differently at different angles. I also like mischievous or slightly grumpy looking dolls with the eyebrows down. It's very cute, like watching a kitten try to be tough! :D

The key is that the expression should be vague enough to be slightly open to interpretation or looking different according to the angle and such, since the doll is obviously stuck with that one expression. I dislike very extreme expressions on dolls. Big grins, open mouth, anything with tongue puts me off right away.

    7. Hmmmm ...... I found out that my dolls do not smile or frown, and yet in some photos are visible emotion ...

    8. I have a terrible inclination towards sly-looking smirky men -.-; but I also love more peacefully smiling sculpts and the super-creepy widely grinning ones. It always depends on the character, of course, so I've got some more pouty or sad sculpts too... but yes.

    9. I have variety of emotions in my collection, and I like it that way. Angelo almost always looks serious or almost angry, Lily looks peaceful, Tessie looks contemplative, Lizzie-Mae looks cute or sassy, and I haven't really figured out my head yet or the doll yet to come. I don't think I could pick just one emotion, because I like to switch things up every once in a while, and it would get really old for me. Each of my dolls looks different to me, and they each have a different purpose for my collection.

    10. I think I prefer dolls with sweet and vaguely neutral expressions or with a hint of a smile. Though slight pouting is always cute.

    11. as angry as me

    12. When I see other people's pictures, I like seeing sad or melancholic looks but on my own, I like their expressions to fit their characters. One of mine looks most like himself when he looks angry so that's just how he looks while my other one is smirky.

    13. I like dolls that have a slight smile or smirk, and I really like dreaming or romantic sculpts. I also like dolls with intense stares, and dolls that can pull off moody glances.

    14. i like my doll to look peaceful.
my doll works his magic on my lens... he sometimes look bored, mischievous, sad, happy, indifferent...etc... dunno...
i can tell his mood changes even thought he got just one look.

    15. My favorite emotion is a happy face just because looking at them makes me happy too...not that my other dolls don't make me happy but you know...feelings are contagious XD however, I love all kinds of emotions that's why I have the grumpy look, the sad one, the "whatever" one and the sarcastic one! hehe

    16. Mostly fairly neutral. Gentle smiles and slight pouts that can show more than one emotion depending on the angle. One of mine can look both slightly sad and hopeful. I have a Puki Puki Pong on my wishlist, but I think the always excited child will be a fun character to have!

    17. I would say that I prefer happy over sad and, sometimes I like a pensive look on a doll. Pensive like expressions make dolls look as though they have a depth to their personality almost an intelligence and intensity. I guess its hard to explain really. I see this in dolls sometimes and I really gravitate to it. Its almost like if the doll were to be a person they would have a huge story to tell. LOL

    18. I always assumed that my first doll would be a happy/smiling doll, but I ended up buying a MNF Rheia instead. While she isn't grumpy or pouty, she isn't exactly what I would consider a happy doll. I would like to add a bubbly girl to my family eventually though!

    19. I definitely like neutral expressions. The right faceup can give a doll a small smile or pout to fit in with any picture after all! :)

    20. I want to have doll who can have so much looks at the same time, like it can looks mature and beautiful but cute too. The only emotion I would like to avoid is sad and angry cause I would be uncomfortable with doll who look angrily or weeping at me.
But maybe I consider it as faceplate for some short photostory :)
