1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

What if our dolls had Jointed Fingers?

Feb 21, 2006

    1. Actually my Super Gem's jointed hands are pretty much the same thing as Mecha Angel jointed hands.

You know what they say about a guy with big hands. (:

      - Mel

    2. That would be awesome, Very useful for people whom like to draw and maybe don't do so good at hands... like me. They would be more pose-able, And certain poses could be amde cuter or something.

    3. Huh, I didn't know that. Now I'm tempted to put off buying my Spinel with jointed hands and just get the Mecha Angel ones later, if they're close enough to being the same. :3

    4. They are actually the same hands. A lot of the height of a Sabik is in his legs and longer torso, as far as I can tell.

      - Mel

    5. it would be kinda handy to have
just so you could have more varity with the poses

    6. Well jeese, I wish I had known that before posting a contradiction. :sweat But it's an honest mistake, right? (Although I'm happy to have been proven wrong. A $600 bill for a Spinel is so much less daunting than an $800 one.)

    7. It's really hard to tell without seeing them up close, anyhow. (:

Although I'm not sure if I'm going to grab a Sabik or a Rex as those boys are way taller than I can handle. I'm already having enough trouble hauling my Lupin around, and he's only 65cm tall!

      - Mel

    8. If you're going to state things as fact and boldly state that so-and-so hands are incompatible with so-and-so bodies, then picture proof and supporting evidence is greatly appreciated. This is for the benefit of potential buyers, who would be discouraged from buying a product, and the companies themselves, who probably don't appreciate the quick dismissal of their products.

    9. Like I said, it was an honest mistake. Besides, notice I also stated that Soom sold jointed hands on another set of dolls. I would think a buyer would be more likely to buy the jointed hands with their Super Gem than buy Mecha Angel hands separately during the For Five Days event, as Super Gems are always available. Either way, if they chose to buy a Super Gem + the hands or just Mecha Angel hands separately, the company still benefits.

I wasn't dismissing the products of a company I love dearly (if you notice, Soom is one of the top names on my doll wish list) and that wasn't my intention. Someone else stated to me that they thought Mecha Angel hands wouldn't be compatible with other dolls due to the size difference between Mecha Angels and others, and I agreed with them, because it made sense to me. Again, honest mistake.

I'm sorry I didn't provide proof, but have you noticed how hard it actually is to find owner photos of Super Gems with jointed hands and Mecha Angels with them? Personally, I haven't seen any, and this thread was the first time I had heard of anyone even having one.

I don't appreciate the tone of your post (yes, text can have tone, if you feel like arguing that) over a simple mistake I made that someone very kindly corrected already. Not being very amiable, are you?

EDIT: I do admit I spoke without thinking deeply, but people do make mistakes, and a mistake that was already kindly corrected didn't exactly deserve the response you gave me. Sorry if I sound a little bitter, but your post really bristled me.

    10. Silverstein: I ordered Soom jointed hands for the Mecha Angel and when I receive my Soom jointed hands, then I will gladly take photo comparisons for the public. This is actually beneficial, since it is photographic evidence rather than assumptions. And it decreases the chance of backpedalling arguments.

As a person who is looking forward to his jointed hands, I don't appreciate the negative assumptions of someone who I don't believe has even seen these hands in person. Or maybe even these dolls in person? Or possibly does not even own a doll yet to confidently compare sizes and give their personal advice to benefit others? I admit: This is very irritating.

Also, some people, like myself, would rather own the jointed hands themselves [$150] and not buy an entire Super Gem doll [$600+] for the hands. I dont want any of their dolls right now. I only want the hands.

I'm not arguing with you nor will I argue with you. I appreciate facts and evidence rather than assumptions. Look back at my first post, where I stated facts.

I believe that the OP did not know jointed hands existed, but many members have already stated that they exist. Whether the Soom Mecha hands are only for 70cm dolls is not as important as the fact that jointed hands do indeed exist in this hobby.

Also, I apologize to the Mods for this clutter. This is my last public reply to Silverstein.

    11. I love your assumption that I am trying to be negative about an item I'm planning to buy for myself. I don't think you've read my entries very well, as I did state I was buying jointed hands for my own doll. I admit I did not outright say it, but I did make note of the relief of having the option to buy my jointed hands later rather than when I ordered the doll.

I know you're not going to reply to this, but I felt the need to state it for anyone else reading this. I'm getting redundant now but I'm going to say it again, people make mistakes. It's late here, I don't exactly have a clear mind right now, I fumbled and I am embarrassed for it, that doesn't mean I need nor deserve your scorn.

    12. ...I'm still hoping that someone would point me to some commercially available GIRL hands with jointed fingers... Or do they seriously not exist (commercially, not private sculpts)?

    13. This thread originally began in '06 and at that time, commercially available jointed hands were not around - some ArtDolls had them and so a resin counterpart wasn't too far fetched an idea. That's what is making the continuity in this thread a bit wacky - there were NOT jointed hands and now there ARE jointed hands. :)

It really would be best if a member were to only post information that is one hundred percent correct, but mistakes will be usually pointed out pretty quickly on a forum this size.

I'm slowly but surely outfitting all of my boys with jointed hands - both Soom and Unidoll. I think they are the most beautiful, creative and expressive thing to happen in the hobby for a long time!

    14. I think it'd be good to have a choice. I know you can buy different hands for different poses but that can get expensive (for hands) so this would be a good idea.

    15. you can buy jointed hands on the soom website but they are limited

    16. I know. I posted that before I figured that out. Still a noob in the BJD world... :)

    17. Agh... edited... as I just saw the above post about the Soom hands.

Those are gorgeous and so awesome! I want some jointed hands for sure.. ^___^

    18. I see them on soom, but are they on any other dolls? and are there bjh for smaller doll other then 60+?

also, some people think they look ugly, what do you think?

    19. Some do, and they're so neat! The showing joints may bother me a bit on anyone but a "doll" character though...
