Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. What if our dolls had Jointed Fingers?

Feb 21, 2006

    1. If they could be made to look really well, I would love them. I hate doll's unmoving hands. D: I think the hands my doll has right now are in a weird position.. xD

    2. I don't like the look of ball-jointed fingers very much, but I had the idea for coating the hands in silicone, like flesh, and making clickable fingers. know what I mean? But the again, i would love to get a doll with ball jointed fingers anyway. that could pave the way for a wicked stop-motion video of a guitar playing bjd with exact cords and stuff.... 8D

    3. BJ-fingers are the very first item in my personal wish list. I love so much how they look!
BlackKat, will you show your idea when it comes true? It would be very interesting!

    4. I love, and want a part of Soom jointed hands. I know some people don't like the sacrifice of aesthetic for that kind of articulation, but I find the Soom hand sculpt appealing enough that it overrides everything. Besides, some dolls look even more unnatural with hands stuck in one, albeit versatile, position.

    5. I wouldn't like the looks of the joints, unless they were hidden under the skin somehow. But that would be near impossible with resin, so I'd rather have real-looking hands in one posititon rather than those that look like a robot.

    6. Once it seemed to me that jointed hands were the holy grail of the jointed doll enthusiast, and would be forever unattainable. And now, I find that they already exist. I am entranced.

Though the joints in the hands can look unnatural, the rest of the joints on a BJD can too... it's just that joints in hands aren't as easy to cover up with clothing, as gloves are more rarely worn than, say, jeans.

I think well-designed joints can have an aesthetic appeal in their own right. I hope to have both male and female BJDs with jointed hands someday... :D

    7. That would be awesome! Expensive, but awesome.
I'd love jointed hands, but I really don't like how they look.

    8. My boyfriend wants a Spinel from Soom and they offer jointed fingers inconnais, take a looky! http://www.dollsoom.com/shop/step1.php?number=2830

They look so cool! so many possibilities *dreams* ^_^

    9. I really don't like the idea of jointed hands because they would look too bulky and unappealing to me, aesthetically. It's a good idea in theory but I'd rather have a nice pair of hands on one position then fake jointed hands.

    10. I really like the idea of jointed fingers, but I also really love joints on BJDs too. I won't lie, I've been eying those soom jointed hands. XD

    11. It seems like a really interesting idea. Especially if they could ever be made just as beautifully as the single pose hands. And if the joints were reliable. I don't own any bjds and can't speak for them, but I've had other poseable figures that, after a while, their joints would just get really loose. At that point it's impossible to make them look really good.

    12. I would love them. It would be great for Itachi to be able to grab anything and everything.

    13. I think it'd be a great option, but it'd also be very hard to hide the ball joints and the hand may appear like a skeleton, as in too much about the structure and mechanics and not enough about the aesthetics of a beautifully sculpted hand.

    14. For most of my dolls I don't think I'd like jointed hands, as fascinating as they are, but for the next doll I am going to get, I would totally snatch a pair of soom jointed hands because they are perfect for what I have in mind for him.

    15. I don't like jointed hands for dolls. Most of them simply don't look nice, imo. Just a matter of personal taste, I guess.

    16. I don't think jointed hands would work for any of my crew in particular, but I don't mind how they look. I love them on certain dolls.

    17. If the fingers could move, there would be no need to buy other ones and no need to change them when you want them to be a certain way :D

      I would adore that =w=

    18. My husband wants that doll too! Those hands are so cool. I want to get a pair for my boy (when I get him).
Jointed hands are such a good idea. Although they don't look the best in my opinion, but I'm willing to sacrifice beauty for all the pluses of having jointed hands for a doll.

    19. It'd be a dream come true. @_@ No more boiling hands/buying new ones, etc.. No more swapping them out excessively LoL
      It'd be really nice.

    20. I would definitely get the jointed hands from Soom, its the reason I am looking more at them for my boy than at any other site... I want those hands! :D
