What if our dolls had Jointed Fingers?

Feb 21, 2006

    1. I think they'd be in danger of breaking off all the time.

    2. Actually, I find the jointed hand is less likely to break than a fixed one- fingers will bend rather than snapping :)

    3. wow, so many joints...the hand wouldnt look prettier...but would definately move better =D

    4. I haven't gotten my Sard yet, but he is coming with jointed hands from Soom, and I think they look so cool! I can't wait to see them in action. Imagine all those amazing little finger joints! :D I feel like it will really complete him. If I like them, maybe I'll try getting a pair for Blisdon as well. :aheartbea

    5. I have seen them... i think on unidoll

    6. Yeah, that's right, Unidoll has some jointed finger too, but they were some kind of limited thing. Why don't all the doll companies make these??:...(

    7. If they made the jointed fingers more attractive, I'd consider. Other then that, I really do not like the way they look. Having them covered by gloves would be an exception for me. ^_^

    8. i don't like jointed fingers :horror: i think they're creepy.

    9. I would have thought so too, but seeing the ones in the gallery, I really want one now just for the new interesting poses you can do with them. I think it would be fun to have them really interact with toys or the environment for photoshoots, so I'm definately wanting my next doll to be a boy, just so I can get some of those jointed hands!

    10. As usual, I think the hands photographed by the manufacturer look un-natural, but in the hands of a doll collector, they are truly elegant!

Could these work for girls? Or are they simply too big? I really like the look!

    11. I don't like jointed fingers. The distraction from looking at multiple joints beats the fun of being able to have different hand gestures without actually changing hands.

I for one would prefer if normal hands were just easier to change. Except I can't stand the idea of magnets in wrists too, so until something better is invented, normal hands win ;)

    12. Didn't... I think Unidoll make hands with jointed fingers?

I don't know, I think they have good posability.. But I don't really like the look of them. They're quite ugly compared to the usual hands. > >

    13. oooh. That would be so awesome. It would make them that much more life like. I agree with effigy I would definetly want the beautiful hand details. But it would be a cool option. You get one set of still beautiful hands and one set of posing hands. I'd buy em.

    14. Well now that I've actually seen Soom and Unidoll's jointed hands, can't my opinion has changed. It's sacrificing too much aestheticism for poseability. The hands look skeletal and creepy. I'd only buy them if I could put gloves on them and even then they probably wouldn't be worn very often.

    15. I think the IDEA of the jointed hands is really cool, but the execution makes them aesthetically unpleasant to me. I don't have a better solution and really appreciate it when doll companies try new things, so I don't have anything bad to say. It just isn't my personal taste. I'm also very immature for my age and would have all my dolls pose with the two fingered salute. But that's just me. >.< I think more poseable hands would be terrific, something like a skin over balls or a 'gumby' material. I'm content with my girls the way they are, though.

    16. It sounds like a nice option but I'm concerned about all that intricate detail (imagine the stringing!).

    17. I was on the fence about poseability vs. aesthetics, but then I saw this
SDink's pix of Crobidoll Lance wearing beautifully blushed Soom hands -- and even though there *are* a lot of joints I just found them so expressive. I haven't seen any IRL though.

    18. Meh, I don't think Jointed hands really look all that nice, and I'm much in preference of unmoveable hands that look pretty ^^ However, if I had jointed hands, I'm sure I'd have fun posing them for specific poses, and they could make more real poses and such than what you'd be able to realistically buy hands of. But, more real poses with them would also have that less real, less pleasing, ball jointed look lol

    19. I'd be very, very happy indeed.

    20. I'm not liking the skeletal look of them. From what I hear, too, there's no real strength in the fingers, so you can pose, but can't actually grip anything like a solid hand can.
