What if our dolls had Jointed Fingers?

Feb 21, 2006

    1. It would have to sacrifice the good looks of the hands... but it would end the need to have 50 bajillion sets of hands...

    2. That's probably the nicest pair I've seen, but it still doesn't do anything for me. Still too skeletal.

    3. Doesn't Soom <?> make jointed hands? I remember seeing pictures of dolls with them and a couple people asking if the hands were soom. I thought they were gorgeous the jointing was done neatly and only looked weird on the under side of fingers a bit.

    4. I really like the look of the jointed hands.
I like the unidoll ones. (soom not so much)

    5. Soom has joint fingers. But it cost $150+ for one hand set and is only available for their 70cm doll
I personally like joint fingers. I think it's cool to move your doll's hands around.
      XD

    6. not necessary. Just more parts that will wear out or break.:...(

    7. I love the Soom jointed hands so much at one point I seriously considered buying them separately just to have them laying around looking gorgeous.

    8. I'd like some skinny ones with longer bones to create a Jack Skellington
Or normal female ones to create my own Battle Angel :)
But I wouldn't create a "normal" doll character with these. I don't know why, maybe it's because I don't like marionettes...
      Laoky

    9. jointed hands are good for the skeleton look, which one of my boy would need :)

    10. It would be really neat to have jointed fingers, but I think the hands that most dolls have now are prettier. =) If I ever got the chance to purchase a pair that would fit my dolls, though, I'd probably seriously consider it.

    11. Are there jointed hands for girls? I think SOOM and Unidoll only makes them for guys but I see some pictures here and there of girl hands like the site several posts up.

    12. at first, i think that would be a neat idea. but as i start to think about it, i think more "no" than anything else. i think the beauty of the hands would be affected if they were done up with all those joints.

    13. I think if you were able to get rid of all the holes and stuff, it'll look less skeletal... kinda like obitsu's 1/6th shoulder joints... But meh, I think i'll pass until the bjd companies develope and get more used to making jointed doll hands and improve on them aesthetically.

    14. there is Jointed fingers now

    15. I personally really like it. Although I'm sure maintenance of those suckers would be a pain. But overall, I think I would really like having that option. For me, it just seems to make the doll come more alive because hands are very important for expression. That's just the way I see it anyway.

    16. Actually you can buy jointed hands at http://dollsoom.com/index.php from the 15th to the 19th of every month. :) However, I don't think they work for every company's models.

    17. I think the idea of jointed hands is awesome, but wouldn't want a pair for mine personally. That might change, but for now I don't really feel I need them, I'm fine with regular hands. But in a few months my friend is ordering Soom Sabik and she's getting him a pair of jointed hands, so I'll be able to play with his while I have him to do his faceup and when ever she brings him over.

    18. It'd be so cool to be able to move the fingers and have them point and hold things and stuff. but they would ruin the graceful lifelike look and beautiful lines of the hands that we've got now.

if they could do a skeleton like plastic joint that didn't need to be stringed and then covered it in a matte plastic or something like that so the joints wouldn't show and the hands still looked really pretty that would be perfect!

    19. I like the option most definitely. I would sacrifice the looks and the fact that it will be very fragile. I can always opt to digitally enhance the joints in the picture if need be.
