What if our dolls had Jointed Fingers?

Feb 21, 2006

    1. I once thought I'd like the idea of jointed fingers, so I bought a pair that Unidoll sells. When I got them, I didn't like them so much anymore!

    2. If the hands could be changed I would rather go with optional hands that can hold, point be flat, fist stuff like that, but if they are going to make it hard for us, jointed would be ideal. Just well done not cheap to make a high profit margin.

    3. I actually met a woman who had a hybrid bjd boy and he actually had ball jointed fingers, each finger was able to be moved independently of the hand and other fingers. It was amazing to see.

    4. Maybe if the fingers were just as pretty as the ones there are now, without joints... then maybe. It just doesn't seem quite feasible to have jointed fingers though, and I don't think it'd be pretty at all.

    5. I think it would just be too fumbly. And it wouldnt look as cool and natural as if the hand was just one whole piece.
Besides I wouldnt give up my dollshe hands for anything! *huggles Al* ^^

    6. If buyers want them, the companies will make them.
Either they'll develop sophisticated coverings for the joints, or we'll just get used to seeing them...

    7. I would actually like some jointed fingers. Naomi is cute with her smooth litlte hands and all, but it wouldn't hurt to have joints in her fingers for a photo shot or something. Plus, it would be nice if she oculd hold her little bunny doll in more ways.

    8. Maybe as an option. I like non ball jointed hands quite a lot.
I can imagine some of them turning out to be quite ugly.
but i guess it wouldn't hurt to try it out?

    9. Honestly I'd be all for jointed fingers, because of the greater range of poses and flexibility for the dolls. However, the only downside is if it doesn't look very realistic and it's not a doll you choose to have wear gloves of any kind, it'd look out of place. ( Not unless they did armature-esque work with a bendable material over the hand to hide the joints and keep the realism or something similar )

For the most part I'd like to see both ideas used and kept - The usual hands that are made for the sake of aesthetics/realism, and jointed hands for poseability. ( Even cooler if you could decide when ordering jointed hands if you want the joints covered or uncovered, depending on the effect you're going for with your doll ) That way there's options, people can switch hands if they want or just stick to the ones they prefer. (:

    10. Jointed fingers? Sounds like a bit too much elastic if you ask me, having to restring the silly things, that's just a bit too much for me.

    11. I would love them! And i surely would buy those hands, you can do so much if the fingers would move to and makes the whole doll more real ^^

    12. I think it would be an awesome idea. ^^ They may not be as asthetically pleasing as the hands we have now, but it would be really fun to change the position of the fingers without having to buy new hands. [:

    13. I apologize if this has been pointed out already, but Dollsoom already sells jointed hands.

      http://www.dollsoom.com/shop/step1.php?number=2808

They are sold during a four-to-five day period every month.

EDIT: And of course, limbairedhiel has already pointed this out on the previous page.

    14. i have seen it before.. someone selling it over another community quite a period ago.

it was going for SGD$25(not sure if its a pair)

but in my opinion it dose not look nice on dolls, its weird that the hands suddenly has many jointed areas.

it won't look as beautiful as before.

edit: soom's are nicer looking. but thats only for mecha angels right?

    15. I love the idea of jointed fingers!! I guess the only thing for me is that the joints would have to stay tight so that I could pose them and they wouldn't get lose. But it would be fun to be able to move there fingers all the time

    16. I would love to have a doll with jointed fingers. Just think of how much more poses you could do. Yeah they may not be as pretty, but I still think it would be worth it. :)

    17. i have Unidolls Jointed hands..I think they are alot of fun! I need to wire them though.

    18. I saw some at DoD... all sold out..

    19. Actually, the hands you are referring to are Mecha Angel jointed hands, which would probably not look so good on other dolls, as Mecha Angels are 80cm tall so their hands are proportioned to their bodies.

However, Soom Super Gems have the option of coming with jointed hands also. But to my knowledge Super Gem jointed hands can't be bought on their own.

    20. I think it's kinda cool, and it's cool how the doll companies are listening to their shoppers and stuff... But personally, It just looks like too much.I like the current looks of dolls and I don't think they should make them even more jointed. @0@
